I could if I wasn't so attached to my posessions, I believe a requirement to join is that you give up all your worldly posessions.
I don't know of any around here and I have no idea what woofing is. I could house sit, Steve paid me to watch his farm for a month while he went to south America, and that was after 1 day of volunteering to help a guy run for the CHP in Guelph.

The only thing I failed at while watching his place was keeping the pasture in tact, it was a mess and full of tire tracks when he got back, but we needed the tractor lights to clean up the saw dust at night when we finished cutting fire wood.

um no you just volunteer you dont have to give up your wordly possessions whatever that might be. You ARE allowed to bring whatever you need with you.

Lots of writers house sit because they prefer to write somewhere without distractions and dont need to pay rent, a lot of the time all theyd need to do is mow the lawn, feed some pets and make sure the windows and gates closed at night, and they will often provide food in a stocked pantry/fridge but you can order whatever in and use their kitchen. You dont need to leave the house even.

Up to you, its your life. Im not your mother.

Writers in residences offer places if you already in the process of writing a book. Your rent is paid for.

If Anne Frank can write her diary in a secret annexe with no fear and never knowing it will ever be published you can too. Writers that have a gift write as thats just what they do. The rest is up to God. Thats probably how the Bible got published. Tell the truth.

I was wondering if anyone here ever read Judy Blume's book
Are you there God? Its me Margaret

Its been made into a movie. I cant remember much of it but I do know Judy Blumes Books had been banned in the US.

Others I remember, Deenie, Blubber, Tales from the 4th grade nothing, Superfudge. They were about tweens/teens issues/real life. I dont tend to read a lot of YA..too much angst lol

Im not sure I like fudge it seems very sticky to me. Detective Lanolin was trying to be careful about her teeth

Here said Tourist try my sticky date pudding. I found the recipe on CC. I recommend all sticky dates to those who dont have any.

He was always trying to get her to taste things. I am Canadian put up his hand and said he'd tested all the desserts in the land over many years and this year he was actually going to be one of the judges in the Great big Amish bake off contest.

I come from the land of Maple syrup, I know all about sticky.

I have picked up another Danielle Steel its called sisters about four sisters, all wealthy americans each one different of course and tragic thing happens to their mum, usually in first chapter and they all have to meet again to resolve whatver that trauma is, it could possibly be they lose a family fortune Im predicting. There will probably be at least one lawyer character in it.

The other one is a book called The last Chinese Chef about an american childless widow food writer who finds out her deceased husband has had other children without her knowing and she has to settle a paternity claim in China. Im predicting that she'll fall in love with chinese food and hot chef and then make him a celeb.
Her deceased husband was a lawyer of course.

what is it with lawyers.

Well halfway through Sisters. Yes tragedy and disability at the same time. And one of the sisters is a lawyer, specialising in divorce. That is why she wont marry her boyfriend, who is also a lawyer.

The relationship seems problematic at best.

In Shakespeare's book Henry VI Part II in act IV he wrote, "The first thing we do is, let's kill all of the lawyers".

Based on that I would say that this relationship is on shaky ground.

In the books and movie of Bridget Jones, Darcy (played by Colin Firth) was a human rights lawyer. Supposedly lawyers, barristers and attorneys are all decent people who also happen to be stinkin rich, which makes them attractive to women or something. But their jobs are very boring.

I recall a high school friend, got married 3 times, then after the last husband cheated on her decided she would study to be a divorce lawyer. She was having a hustle on the side selling tupperware.

Legally Blonde also featured lawyers. Supposedly blondes cant be lawyers? They would want justice for all handbag dogs, according to the movie.

People seem to highly rate Harvard for churning out lawyers and MBA business people. Is it as great as people say? From what I heard of Harvard is that when people graduate from there they start taking over the US, changing laws to suit them and merging and taking over businesses to enlarge their own territory. Whether for the good of all or purely out of self-interest who can say?

In the end of the Danielle Steel novel the lawyers dont end up marrying each other but just living together. So they don't have the trouble of 'in-laws' but the other sisters find dates and marry.

I think it will be the last Danielle Steel I read. The writing is atrocious. She repeats herself constantly and needs a good editor.

I often wondered if the kind of profession makes you automatically a 'good catch' in terms of Romance. Romance novels depict certain kinds of men as marriage material for the female protagonists. It seems they all have to earn at least $20 k a year or have a trust fund inheritance or be royal to be in certain priveliged 'perfect' marriage set. But note that a lot of romance novels are pure fantasy.
