@ Ugly - When did you first realize in your heart & mind that you needed God & truly asked him into your heart?
I was raised in a 'churchy' family. So we were 'Christians' and i went to church as a kid, this went on and off as i grew up. I didn't know what a Christian really was except 'moral' people... whatever that was. And believing in God.
But at 14 my dads work friend invited me to his churches youth group. I got there early as the praise band was just setting up and whatnot. I was sitting on the main isle and some people greeted me. One guy sat behind me and started talking to me about God and Jesus. He asked if i wanted to pray to accept Jesus, to which i said 'sure' hahaha. He got up and walked away after that. We probably talked for 10-15 minutes. The weird thing is, none of the 20 or so people who walked past us, just a few feet away, saw me talking to anyone. No one recognized the description of the man i was talking to and i've never seen him again.

Did you mean The Pianist? If so, then I love that movie -- it moved me and broke my heart the way that Schindler's List did. I haven't seen the Piano, so if you meant that one, then I would pick the Gerard Depardieu version of Les Miserables.
My all time favorite movie...its so hard to pick, I love so many films. For now, I'll say it's The Wiz.
I meant the Holly Hunter movie, so, 'The Piano.' LOL, I never heard of 'The Pianist.' They both got high marks from critics, helloooo, why did you like 'The Pianist' so much. The Wiz, huh? Your all-time favorite? Didn't hear you answer the 'why' part of that question though :)

What best advice would you give someone who is single now, having come from a marriage? :)

Green - I'd say concentrate on the good parts of being single. There are lots of good parts. If you aren't content now, the likelihood of you being content as a married person is even slimmer. Contentment comes from the inside, not so much from circumstances.

gracey: did you take art in college?

I did not go to college. Mommyhood was calling. :) I have gone to several conferences for entertainers and face/body artists though, and learned valuable painting techniques.
Good answer. If you are not content with yourself, you won't be content with someone else.

These verses are of this word 'content' personified for our lives ,of how we can understand how to be content and not want for things, not desire wanton things that will only, in the end, not be noble, not be pure.....not be from Him :(

I could never do stand-up comedy or anything like that...because people would be looking at me. Yeah...I try to stay kind of invisible, in my day to day life. Standing on a stage all by myself would sort of be counter-productive to that.

I was born in CO, and then lived in Minnesota for a few years when I was...3-6 ish. Back to CO til I did my stupid get-married-at-17-trick when I lived in NC for about 6 months. I've lived in various parts of CO since I came back from NC. So...I've pretty much been here my whole life :)
mizcris, you strike me as an outgoing sort, who can make a lot of people laught, the Lord leads, use your gift of 'funny' well then.
Funny though, isn't it--or, not so funny, depending on how you see it--that ugly says he was going to ask you the same stand-up type question. :)
I must be on the wrong threads, because I've never heard you say anything but funny, witty, stuff, Lord-led stuff, a great giving of breath to so many on c.c. And, then itoreHis echoed my thoughts and I bet there are a zillion more, well, ok, maybe, not a zillion, literally, since it's not a number but a billion more would say the same thing if they saw your posts :)

Interesting question. I think that my relationship with God can't really get "better",but that perhaps I could grow to understand His will more,or the nature of Him...thus making my life,not "better" but allowing possibly me more peace & rest in His perfect design for it. Draw near to God & He will draw near to you. My relationship with God has never been one of "feeling" Him. I always wished it were. When I was a little child...when I was in my teens...when I was a young adult,many times I wondered why I didn't seem to feel or sense God like so many other of my christian friends & family. No matter how much I studied the word,or prayed. So my walk & trust in Him has really always been by faith that He is who He says He is. Even to this day,I rarely "feel" like I understand Him or know what He wants from me. I know what the bible says,and yet it doesn't always feel as personal as I hear other's tell me it is for them. I don't question Jesus,or my salvation...I just question my own flaws on knowing what I believe God has asked of me to say or do..or even not to do at times. (does any of that make sense?) ...and now you ask me for a poem...something that I can't formulate or even attempt to make a rough draft of in my mind,simply because that's not how I write. God's plans known for us...hmmm.......

Before I was a speck He knew me

Thanks for asking GreenNnice. Everyday is a blessing and a gift. Today, I would like to give God thanks for giving me strength and good health to do all the necessary things that needed to be done especially in school. :)

That's great, 4leafleafleafleaf, it's always perfect when we just surrender all to Him, in times of need and no need. Try to remember to give thanks to God when you really don't need to give thanks and in times when you really feel like appreciation to God for something is necessary.

This is Scripture too, from 1 Thessalonians 5 , telling us how often and at what time we are to be in relationship with Jesus in our life, His Spirit living in us :)

Rejoice always, 17pray continually, 18give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.


And, people like to read books about God's will for their lives, they can throw away the books and quit asking the questions when they start to live life in this way, for their life will no longer be the same, it will be 'abundant.' :)

QUESTION FROM GREEN TO JULIEANNIE: sweet thing you said to everyone in the streams of consciousness thread, the Lord leads, you follow Him, milady, and, we all have been, for many moons now, both entertained and encouraged and, not to forget, blessed, by you ala His gifts aptly given :)

Why do you like The Blacklist? Do you like it better than 'Person Of Interest?' Why ?

Person of Interest didn't hold my attention like Blacklist and is far more predictable. I detest predictability in entertainment. The Blacklist is far enough out there to be realistic. If there is one thing I have learned in law enforcement it is that the truth is far stranger than fiction. :) You can't make some of that stuff up. :) I also like that it stresses the technician mentality alphabet soup agencies have to constantly guard against. Gotta keep digging deeper...always.

What's your all-time favorite show of this Bones, CSIs (Vegas, Miami, NY), NCIS, NCIS: Los Angels, Numbers, Cold Case, Law and Order, etc. tv episodes genre? Why ?

I like Brennan's character on Bones very much. My brain works a lot like that, but I also have a very odd sense of humor. It helps deal with my work.

Jethro of NCIS is the coolest. LOVE his character. Reminds me very much of a guy who was senior detective on our department when I first started in LE. He gave everyone the impression of being a good ole country boy, but VERY little got past him. :) After an armed bank robbery the FBI tag team interrogated a guy for several hours and came out with very little. Our guy took a couple of cups of coffee in with him and came out half an hour later with a full confession.

The episodes I like best in each of the above shows are the episodes that give us a glimpse of why their personalities are what they are. I like seeing the person behind the mask in real life and in fiction. :D

I don't really watch many of the other shows you mentioned. I don't watch much tv, so a show has to be exceptional to get my attention.

I do want to say that I cannot watch Law & Order SVU because they have had too many shows on re: crimes against children. Those episodes trigger too many work situations that would keep me up at night if I let them. A little TOO MUCH reality for me. PTSD is very real for a whole lotta cops.

By the way, at your age, it's pretty common to have some disagreements with your mom :) I'm going to ask you two questions: Are you teaching any Sunday school classes at your church? (Everyone should know, that Karla does not bring up Christ points to often on c.c. singles forum but when she ventures to bible discussion forum, she can really speak her mind well , and, it's beautiful-said thought straight from Him, who does tell us, you all should know, that YOU have 'the mind of Christ.' None of us have the mind of God, and, no one knows His thoughts, Jesus didn't even know, but, He tells us that we can still have the mind of Jesus Christ, which is great knowledget to behold and know, no ? :) (1 Cor. 2)

rache: everything going OK? You sure did look 'scarlet' with that lipstick picture of you you had on here a while ago. Keep yourself grounded in His love, remembering His blood covers you wherever you go and going places looking so beautiful will have you with many a guys after you .Pray, and choose the guy God brings that speaks your 'language' which is His for you :)

searching4HisTruth: hi, brother. what kind of things are you going in life now? What is your favorite thing that's ever happend to you in a church service? What happened as a result of that happening? Anything change?

pikamischu: Where are you? Have you written that superheroes e-book yet ? Are you keeping your relationship with Jesus faith-strong.

jilly: do you have any more good thread ideas ? When was the last time on c.c., or, in real life, you led someone to Jesus?
Have you been on any mission trips with your church ? Where and what did you learn from it?

Ed, the "<" key means "is less than" in mathematics (as in, 3<4), and "three" is "3", so it's a heart (is less than three = <3 = a heart). That's why I made it red, hoping it would be more obvious. The winking smiley face is made using the semi colon and the end parenthesis keys, so "semi colon end parenthesis" means ;). I had tried to put more space between the two (like is less than_______three, minus the underscore), but the computer bunched them back up automatically.

So far nobody has mentioned it, so perhaps either everyone got it, or nobody got it and everyone either didn't care, didn't see, or was waiting for someone else to ask :D.







Oh, and the last bit is a monkey eating a banana while fixing a motorcycle, of course.

I'm confused. I just tried to create the emoticons that you described plus some extra and they all came out exactly as I typed them. No computer mess up.

Good question, Astrid. How about this: You put something in the special room and it immediately becomes clean. Or even, it gets clean after you leave and press a button; that's good enough for me . Also, Green and I each asked you awhile back in this thread, but how are you enjoying Scotland? You mentioned that you've never been called a "lass". If not "lass", what do they call the young females over there?

I love being in Scotland :D The job is lousy, but the castles, churches, towers, ruins, lochs, mountians, cliffs and beaches are wonderful :D as are the people in the churches I have been to so far :)

I don't really know what they say, I'm normally called by my name. I should ask someone on Sunday :p
