A candy bar sounds good! I'd kinda like one!

But...then you'd be stealing 2, which is worse than stealing one. I don't want to have any influence on causing a greater sin!

Seems that just asking you to shoplift is sinful!

With the wages of all sins being death, I'm thinking this isn't such a good idea!
Perhaps not a good idea but it is a very amusing idea. What ever wrong results God can charge it to my account.

The bad that has resulted is that I'm really wanting a snickers now...

Whoops! Sorry 'bout that.

Now if you were really wanting a bar of good dark chocolate, that would be a good thing. The higher the cocoa content, the less room there is for sugar. 85% cocoa is about right.

I still think sins are un equal. stealing a candy bar is nothing. do you really think asking forgiveness for killing 3 people would be just as easy. i think its crossing a line we may not come back from.

It's silly to think that theft and murder are equally bad.

It's silly to think that the murder of 1 person and the murder of millions is equally bad.

You're right to believe that some sins have more magnitude than others.

Regardless, we ought to strive to stay away from all sins!

Okay, Test. I'm willing to be wrong.

Peter, I don't think it's quite as simple as all that. I believe it's totally possible to be in love, not just lust, if you have sex before marriage. Does that mean I think it's a godly practice? No. It's awakening love outside the marriage covenant. And it's not just sex. I believe sexual activity of any kind should be kept for marriage (I'm not including kissing here).

That's the point.

When you start saying to yourself, "Well, at least I'm not murdering someone," you open the door for more "allowances."

i agree its not right to justify one thinking its not as bad as another. but the point i was making is some can carry you further from the Lord than others and i think thats what that proverbs passage was talking about.

There are degrees of sin but sin is sin. God sees all the same, no matter how light we think of it. We break one commandment, we break them all. And the proper word is "murder", not "kill". One kills in self-defence or war. Murder is premeditated with malicious intent. that is how it was supposed to read from the Ancient Hebrew, anyhow. One life taken is just as precious as a thousand or million; Jesus said He would have given Himself for even one, so how can we make differentiation if He did not?

That's true but a sin unchecked could be a coveted one or become habitual, making it harder to let go in the future because we thought it not serious.

I'd like to add that a couple that has a closed sexual relationship before marriage are still in sin whenever they have sex before marriage.

That doesn't really make sense. If there are degrees of sin - and there are - then God isn't going to simply see them all the same.

We'd be more accurate to say God hates(strong word) all sin but finds some sins particularly loathsome/repulsive.

My analogy is this: Garbage dumpsters are all disgusting. I spend as little time around them as possible. Yet, as disgusting as they all are, they're not all equally disgusting/repulsive.

There's not a sin that God likes. He hates all sin. Yet, some sins are more repulsive and offensive to Him than others.

If it were not so, then there wouldn't be an unpardonable sin(Matt 12, Luke 12). There wouldn't be "greater sins"(John 19:11). There wouldn't be sins that are "even more detestable"(Ezekiel 8:6).

On our part, we should avoid all sins. All sins are garbage dumpsters.
