My pet's name is Wallace. He's a turtle...which made me kind of nervous at first, because my first turtle killed himself and I was a little traumatized by his sudden death. Just came home from school one day, went to feed him some turtle food, and...found him...wedged between a rock and the wall of his tank. His head was hanging into the water, and I tried to get him to move, you know, denial and all over what had obviously happened while I was off at school. He didn't move, but I thought, maybe he's just sleeping, yeah, I'll just pick him up and give him a little shake...

As it turned out, dead turtles are surprisingly floppy. His little limp legs swung side to side and I screamed and dropped the little guy and my mom put him in a Payless shoe box and drove him to the landfill...

So naturally, I was a bit wary of having a turtle as a pet ever again, but I'm pleased to say it's been going quite well, and Wallace seems pretty happy, don't you think? I mean, this is not the face of a reptile that's going to off himself the minute I turn my back.

He seems happy enough.

Cats are winning (YES!)
Are we voting? Oooh!

In that case I´d vote for dogs. I consider them more loyal friends. Sorry!

(Just my opinion, which counts only for me.)

BINGO AND SKEETER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They're over 7 years old now, but poor Bingo looks like his best days are behind him. :( I'm not sure he can see very well anymore.
They looked engaged. Are they?

Oncefallen, do you have ferrets? Or is that Stilly? I thought it was one of the mods...
In my home are 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a ferret. I just haven't gotten around to posting pics of the rest of the zoo.

Mommy has one "galápagos", around 15 years. She likes to walk all over her house and we´re quite sure she is "she".

Sometimes, when I get my shower unaware, she jumps in from nowhere and got too close to my feet and gets me nervous...

I don´t want a bite.

That's because deep down, humans have a weird desire to be treated badly-ignored, abused, and guilt tripped...but by cute furry critters that can't help being jerks, rather than other humans.

I'm actually having a rare moment of missing my cats. Huh.

I love my cats because they don't constantly need my attention. In fact Jazz the black cat will let me pet him for a while then move to the other side of the couch or the bed, he says, enough woman!

I'm down to one small fish in the 20 gallon I have. I might get more fish sometime in the future. It'll just all depend. :)

Then there's Toby. You can't tell from this picture, but he is huge. The last time I weighed him over a month ago, he was 17 pounds, and he's only a year old. He is very dense, both in body...and mind. He's not the brightest but he is a doll.
i understand. I love my cats, but I seriously think they both suffer from mental issues based on some of their actions/choices.

I'm not sure... neither one of them is wearing a ring. :p

Only one! :O What kind is it?

It was a riot! We've got some funny peeps on cc.
I think it's a rosy barb? It looks kinda like a goldfish, except it has a black spot on it.

here's my four-legged family:

1) this is miss mya, who was seriously the best dog EVAR. she was a rescue akita, and was the most amazing pal during a time in my life that i especially needed a playful friend and companion, protection, and most of all, unconditional love.

i miss her every single day.

2) below is the infamous chloe. she is sweet, playful, mildly co-dependent, and extremely sensitive. if i tear up at all for any reason --even laughter, she'll wake up from a dead sleep and be right in my face, seeing what's going on. it's sort of eerie. she also gets prime real estate on my bed, because she is just that adorable.

oh, this picture is a couple years old, when she was a teenager. it's still one of my faves though.

3) this is charlotte, my missouri fox trotter mare. she's very haughty, vain, and loves to put on a good show for a crowd--also she's also extremely good friends with a decrepit old palomino pony named chester.

she also seems to be under the impression that if i don't arrive bearing gifts, i shouldn't even bother showing up. dames!!!

4) and finally, this is max. he's my young gelding, also a missouri fox trotter. he's got a very puppy-dog personality, playful and loves to kick around the big bouncy balls we have in the field. he's also a bit of an escape artist and can open every top loading latch on every gate/door he's been in, oh, and happiest in a field, surrounded by his favorite "girls".

he's also the first thing i hear when i drive up, and is the happiest to see me. : )
