Found out today that I have Rosacea. That explains the rash on my cheeks, face cheeks, not the other one's.

yeah my skin is pretty sensitive. when i go a little crazy on the exfoliation, i can tend towards rosacea. : (

if you have a slight case (like i did), you can usually change to more mild skin care and it will clear up.

my derm gave me a medication that i never needed to take - i just had to drop the quas-regular peels and OD'ing on the clarisonic.

I think I have rosacea too on my chin just under my mouth. It always gets dry and reddish but I don't feel anything. I just put a dab of lotion on it in the morning and its good for the day. I probably drink too much diet soda. :/

Uuuuggh....Mocha wouldn't come in when I walked him. He gave me SO MUCH GRIEF. I couldn't tie him up anywhere so I could get Dad for 10 minutes. I told my sister, "Go get Dad." I didn't have my phone on me. The neighbor across the street yelled at me because Mocha was barking so much. I eventually got to where I could tie him up to the car handle and I was able to get Dad, and Dad got him in under 30 seconds.

I'm angry beyond belief right now. I would have saved myself a lot of grief if my sister had done what I said and if I had my phone on me. I don't get angry and yell often. But this was one of those times.

I'm not sure what causes it. This summer I started getting this rash. My skin doesn't normally do thAt. I'm going to try this gel she prescribed and hopefully that will help.

perhaps this is too obvious of a question (and i am missing the obvious answer) but why don't you put a leash on him and lead him inside? maybe you need to keep a leash on him all the time when he goes outside, since he seems to disregard your efforts to persuade him to do anything he doesn't want. he's not that big, at 45#.

if you want to let him walk around on his own, all you need to do is fold up the leash and wrap/knot it so that it doesn't drag on the ground until you're ready to bring him in.

worst case scenario (or in a hurry) get a treat and keep it in your hand (he'll smell it) call him, and give him the treat inside.

you know, dogs learn very quickly with a little basic training. dogs like huskies (smart and strong-willed) have an even greater need to have a good foundation of training. i would really encourage you to either take a class with him, or work with him one on one. you'll find that he'll be much better behaved the rest of the time, too.

the older, and more infirm a dog (or any animal, really) the more important it is to be able to work with them cooperatively. my dog mya had some horrible issues with her hips and i was able to avoid having her undergo the risk of anesthesia for some of her treatments because i could get her to stay very still and calm. animals that are hard to manage are the first ones to be anesthetized, muzzled, restrained and the like, all of which puts stress on the body (not to mention, anesthesia is expensive).

not all is avoidable, but much can be if you can work together. animals can do a lot more than we expect when there's there's a clear path of communication and trust.

just a thought. : )

Mocha WAS on a leash. That's the issue. Unless you're talking about one of those outside leashes that you tie to a stake in the ground. Maybe I should keep a treat with me when he goes out. But I tried just gently tugging his leash and saying, "C'mon, time to go in." And he would give me SO MUCH grief. But what makes me mad is when I was absolutely stuck, I asked my sister to get Dad and she did not.

I probably need to re-learn how to take care of a dog I've taken care of for 12 years because I've been taking care of him wrong. But really...I can't handle much more of this.

Aww you're probably just being too nice with him because you don't want to hurt him. I can understand that.

no, i wasn't talking about staking him to the ground. i didn't imagine that you had a leash on him. i'm so sorry evs. he's probably being extra difficult, too--cranky from the surgery. and that's hard.

it will get easier, and you WILL get through this. *hugs* and love you, sweets. let me know if there's anything i can do to help. : )
