I hate tacos. Every time I have them I have horrid acid reflux issues. Dinner was at 6 or 7 pm. It's now 1 am and I'm STILL HAVING ISSUES. I swear my esophagus will burn through itself by the end of the night. And no, I don't have any antacids in my house or this issue would have been resolved a long time ago.
Chewing gum? That's the only thing that helps me with that.

IF you only have this problem when you eat Tacos.......why do you eat Tacos? As well, if this is the only food that causes your acid reflux, then it is easily treated/avoided.

However, if other foods can trigger your acid reflux, then this is a serious issue you should not hesitate to address, for untreated acid reflux can cause other more serious medical issues. The most simple way to avoid the agony of acid reflux is to purchase and take daily 20MG Omeprazole. The WalMart brand is just as effective as the Name Brand pills and costs much less. You can purchase a 30 day supply for about $20.00.

I have been on Prescription Omeprazole for about 25 years.....It's simply something I have to live with and treat daily.

If you have acid reflux more than twice a week, you really should see a Doctor. This issue is far more harmful to women than men for some reason as I have been told by the VA Doctors who I routinely see. Don't simply suffer through, for you are correct in believing that you could be doing serious damage to your esophagus, and your stomach as well.

Please make the effort to address the issue. God bless

Man, do I feel old.

There is a lovely CC member who is a bit younger than me who posted in another forum that they have never heard of the band Pearl Jam... I was in college the year Pearl Jam came out with one of its most famous albums (back when CD's were popular instead of downloads) and my college suite mate was so obsessed with them that she went to go stand in line at Target starting at something like 10 PM in order to be one of the first people to buy their album at the midnight release.
I have felt old for years. I listen to older styles of music, stuff from way before my time. I also listen to modern stuff, but people never seem to hear that when they walk past my office at church - they only notice when they hear old gospel.

Well I can't necessarily avoid it because it's made quite often in my house. And I already avoid dairy (that's actually the biggest trigger for it), gluten, and most pork (bacon being the exception). If I were living on my own things would be much different.

But Lynx, maybe the reason you feel old is because... Nevermind.

No matter how old you get, I know I'll always be older.

So I guess I can't say anything. :D

I hate to be a naysayer, but even though prilosec may work, its a drug with possible side effects. I'd try Tums first since its simply a calcium supplement, but it naturally neutralizes acid.

I wanna say Mom would use prilosec and she would have issues with it from time to time. Yup, what's going on with me is genetic. I have bad ankles and acid reflux from her, and diabetes runs through both sides of my family. It's for sure not fun. Tums sound like the better alternative for now, but I might have to get things further checked out if it doesn't stop. I'd hate to do that.

Okay, so I've been a little bit worried lately, needing things for my little ones, and being VERY short on money to do anything but pay the bills with. I have a whole list of things we need before baby comes, and things we need since my daughter is growing out of everything she has.
I have been very blessed though, with a mostly quiet home, and very good neighbors. I had a neighbor give me 5 cloth diapers, at no cost. I can't say how relieved I am, to even have half of one thing on my list taken care of. I'm trying hard, to trust that God will provide the rest as well.

Contact local churches or charities. A church down the street from me has a "baby closet" where local mothers can shop for free or for trade. There may be something like that in your area.

Or talk to someone in your church who has a two or three year old. Even if they don't still have the baby clothes, they'll probably know where to go.

Y'know, as fast as babies grow out of clothes there really oughta be more community closets for baby clothes. It wouldn't be too expensive for a whole community to maintain it, and it sure would cut down on the amount of clothes being bought and (usually) thrown out. And it would cut out a lot of a new parent's worries.

...............................................

That's what causes problems is "take it when you need it..........." It is not designed for that purpose......it is to be taken daily. Takes time to reach full effect, and also assists in the repair of any damage to the esophagus.

See a Doctor first? Sure............but Tums/Rolaids/Pepto are not designed to address the issues of serious acid reflux.

Anyway...........whatever one wants I suppose.........but if you find yourself sitting/laying there believing you are about to die from a heart attack, and end up being rushed to the ER just to be given something for acid reflux, well, that's a WAKE UP bell that won't UNRING........... :)

I have acid reflux, have had it for years. If it's just a temporary thing then I guess she should avoid spicy food or take tums or one of the other things. I know people who will take prilosec when needed and seems to work for them. I take protonics everyday or I have bad reflux no matter what I eat. Yes I've had upper GI done a few times and was considered for surgery to fix it but the opening is small ao they didn't want to risk it.

If you have acid reflux it's best to know and take medication because the acid can damage your esophagus. Not trying to scare you. The testing for it isn't major or painful.

Can lead to a hiatal hernia which can lead to other more serious issues as well............often suffered acid reflux really isn't something to be ignored or just treated on a temporary basis........as I have been instructed by Doctor on more than one occasion, and she wasn't always so kind in telling me off either........... :)
