Sooo, earlier this week I took my truck to a transmission shop because I thought the transfer case was going bad. The guy never called me to give me an estimate or to tell me what the problem was. This morning I called him to find out what was up and he tells me that I can pick the truck up that the problem was actually in the rear differential and he doesn't work on axles.
I expected to pay a nominal fee for his time diagnosing the problem, but sure wasn't expecting a $450 bill. He removed the transfer case, disassembled it just to find nothing wrong, then reassembled it and reinstalled it. He wasn't present when I picked the truck up so I couldn't argue with him about the bill, that'll have to wait til Monday but if he doesn't refund a sizeable chunk of my money I'll probably have to take him to court. The transfer case and differential are separated by about nine feet of drive shaft his diagnosis error shouldn't run up a bill.
The real thrill is that the differential repair could run almost $1,800.......the truck is barely worth that much but I sure can't afford to replace it. I hate feeling like I work my tail off 40+ hours a week and perpetually end up in the hole financially.
Life isn't fair, oncefell, but thank God, He is. One time, way back when I was 20, I was driving from Montana to washington in my younger 'high-flying' years and I drove about 80MPH all the way home, made a 12 hour trip in a little over 8 hours if I remember correctly
Anyway, when I got home, I found out my rear end (differential) was bone dry as to what the rattle noise was. I guess, the truck ('78 burnt orange Datsun pick-up) was one 'God' decision away from freezing up as I drove it and a differential locking up on you while going 80MPH I'm guessing can't be good .
So, yeah, the shop was expensive, it was rebuilt in 1990 for $2000 .
I don't know why I mention all that but life is like that 'hole financially,' I know that well in my buy and sell business, sometimes my 5K investment yields a 10K return, or, more, and, sometimes, it yields a whole lot less, even negative return, and, I have to work 2-3 months, too, so it's like a crazy thing to think about except I don't think about it, I just give it to God and have faith that there is a good reason for it and that reason is His
The Lord leads
