I don't understand y peple type lik dis.

I don't understand why girls take a million pictures of themselves then post it online claiming they were "bored"

I don't understand why i'm 30 years old and still sleep with a camel!

Most importantly i don't understand why Virginia seems to be the only state without a drive through subway!!
I'm pretty sure you can put Ohio on the list of "States that don't have Subways with drive-thru's" too. I didn't even think of the concept of a Subway having a drive-thru until you mentioned it. XD

My kitten, Toby, is such a bum.

I'm teaching him not to touch food/drink that I put on the end table beside my chair. I'll snap my fingers and point at him, and he'll back off. But then he'll stare at it. And then reach his paw out. And I tell him "No" again and then he licks his paw, as if that's what he was planning on doing all along.

Sooo, earlier this week I took my truck to a transmission shop because I thought the transfer case was going bad. The guy never called me to give me an estimate or to tell me what the problem was. This morning I called him to find out what was up and he tells me that I can pick the truck up that the problem was actually in the rear differential and he doesn't work on axles.

I expected to pay a nominal fee for his time diagnosing the problem, but sure wasn't expecting a $450 bill. He removed the transfer case, disassembled it just to find nothing wrong, then reassembled it and reinstalled it. He wasn't present when I picked the truck up so I couldn't argue with him about the bill, that'll have to wait til Monday but if he doesn't refund a sizeable chunk of my money I'll probably have to take him to court. The transfer case and differential are separated by about nine feet of drive shaft his diagnosis error shouldn't run up a bill.

The real thrill is that the differential repair could run almost $1,800.......the truck is barely worth that much but I sure can't afford to replace it. I hate feeling like I work my tail off 40+ hours a week and perpetually end up in the hole financially.
Are you driving a Dodge?
The guy shouldn't done any work at all without consulting you first. A real mechanic would have known the rear end was bad by just driving it. It will whine & maybe jerk a little bit when the gears are worn out. Low oil from leaky axle seals is the usual culprit. A wore out axle bearing will make it leak.

The mechanic probably didn't do anything to the truck in the 1st place. Have the x-fer case looked at by another mechanic before taking him to court. Just looking at the outside should show whether it was taken apart or not.

Life isn't fair, oncefell, but thank God, He is. One time, way back when I was 20, I was driving from Montana to washington in my younger 'high-flying' years and I drove about 80MPH all the way home, made a 12 hour trip in a little over 8 hours if I remember correctly :D Anyway, when I got home, I found out my rear end (differential) was bone dry as to what the rattle noise was. I guess, the truck ('78 burnt orange Datsun pick-up) was one 'God' decision away from freezing up as I drove it and a differential locking up on you while going 80MPH I'm guessing can't be good .

So, yeah, the shop was expensive, it was rebuilt in 1990 for $2000 .

I don't know why I mention all that but life is like that 'hole financially,' I know that well in my buy and sell business, sometimes my 5K investment yields a 10K return, or, more, and, sometimes, it yields a whole lot less, even negative return, and, I have to work 2-3 months, too, so it's like a crazy thing to think about except I don't think about it, I just give it to God and have faith that there is a good reason for it and that reason is His :) The Lord leads :)

I would just like to emphasize the importance of correct- ah, heck, not even correct, just present- punctuation.

...even though I can't punctuate properly myself.

My work with developmentally disabled adults occasionally takes me to a ranch where developmentally disabled kids have horse riding lessons and such. The gentleman I support has a volunteer job doing light janitorial stuff or cleaning out the stables, which he loves.

On our way there, we stopped by Trader Joe's to buy some carrots for horse treats. When we got there, they told us that the horses were given too many treats yesterday, and that they couldn't have any today. Not a problem - - I just put the carrots in the fridge until Monday.

Except it WAS a problem. Benny, one of the horses, saw me with the carrots and got excited. After I came out of the kitchen area without the carrots, he just glared at me. I help get my program participant started on the stall cleaning and look back....Benny is still glaring. I move a wheelbarrow full of manure.....Benny is still glaring. We say our goodbyes as I help my participant sign out on the log....Benny is still glaring.

Back in the car, I wondered if Benny had any deer friends in Colorado.

I think about the times of my life that I was most blessed and it was when I was helping others, I one time helped a disabled singles person my age get to church and back and we went to church Sunday morning, night, and, tuesday night and wednesday night, so, I was in church a lot at this 1996-97 year and a half time and I worked nada in this time, just was blessed to really work on my relationship with God and have him 'Love' me and show me how He worked in a great way in this time, including a missions trip with my church to Charlotte, North Carolina, and, how God just works in our life when we develop our days and want our life developed around His ways for our life. Since then, though not perfect, that time was a re-start of to my living for my Saviour and understanding who He really was and is and will always be. He will be 'for me.' And, for you :) ALL who come to Him when He calls will be heard as you hear Him and go His way, which one day will ALL be totally worth it in this life we all 'suffer' in as His, because we will be going to Him home. :)

We have officially moved from judgmental deer to judgmental horses. Well done, sir.

So, my church is having a lock-in for the youth tonight (age range looks to be about 8ish to 19), and naturally I was tabbed as a responsible adult chaperone. I suppose, technically, I probably fit the bill - single and experienced with middle schoolers is the right kind of guy to tab for all night duty. I'm exhausted from work, but everyone else is exhausted from work and dealing with their families.

It's actually pretty good - for as energetic as the kids are, they're all very well behaved and respectful...we really have some fantastic parents in our congregation. I just don't know if I've got the juice to make it through the night, you know? These kiddos just don't seem to have an off switch.

So, I brought the tablet my school issued me, and I'll be spending a good chunk of the night here, even after most of my countrymen have turned in for the night. Perhaps Streams will temporarily become the "Shour's random musings in the delirium of forced insomnia" thread.

I should just write a historical and theoretical paper on a major musical work. When I was in grad schools, I used to spit out those 25-35 pagers in a 48 hour span with no sleep. Of course, that was also almost a decade ago...

A great way to pass the time, my friend! How 'bout Amy Beach's Gaelic Symphony? I have the score in a box...somewhere.

I don't understand why people always complain about politics (Norwegians complain about the present government and the US folks complain about whoever is the current president. Always.). Why so much dissatisfaction and anger? I don't agree with everything that is done either, but I certainly don't think I'd do any better. Maybe I should get rid of facebook .... 50% of what is posted there is complaints anyway :p

The past 24 hours have been very healing for me. God has enabled me to release a lot to Him, particularly stressful things. Peace and joy are returning to my life as they have not in a very long time, and I have found myself laughing far more than I have as well.

God created some of us to have a great deal of drive, passion and..well..fire. :) For a long time I have felt as though I should apologize for that. He has helped me to see that HE created me that way for purposes of His own and, while I need to bring those things in submission to Him more than I have, He fully intends to use them for good.

The decisions I am making for my life are going to make the next two years a bit difficult, but I am up to the challenge. I like challenge. I feel dead without it. So, I'm going to hold onto God's hand and step out into some very large waves. It's going to be an awesome ride. I feel it. :)

Actually the culprit in this case is 404,000 miles. I replaced the axle bearings about 50,000 ago. The axles on my truck are probably the only thing that doesn't leak. :p I was highly confident that it was the t-case myself because I could feel the vibration in the t-case shifter. I wouldn't have expected a rear axle vibration to transfer through the drive shaft so well.

It is quite obvious that he did remove and open the t-case, there's no other way to come up with a spotless t-case with new gasket sealer at all the access points when everything else around it is coated in grease and grime.

If I end up having to take him to court it should be an open and closed case.......the work order that he wrote up after I dropped the truck off does not have my signature.

It sure is a sad day when animals become judgemental of humans...
So I take it you never took into account the millions of years Cats have been silently judging us? heeheehee
