I hope your eye is ok and I'm sorry that happened to you, Kim. Were you crouched down when it happened? I'm just wondering if someone was dumb enough to be carrying a box at head level without being able to see what was in front of them. Also, I am sure worker's comp would go into effect here so you might not need to worry about medical costs.
Thanks so much for your sympathies and concerns! Unfortunately, what happened would not be seen as the store's fault. Everywhere you go, merchandise gets shipped in stacks that are always too high (even our boss, who is 6 feet tall, has to get a step stool to reach the top, and I'm only about 5 feet tall.)
I was reaching for a box but didn't see another box stacked on top of it that was filled with much heavier glass items. WHAM!!! The second box fell and hit me right in the face, pushing my glasses into my face very hard. Ever since it happened (about 13 hours ago), I've had large "floating" pieces going across my left eye, and that eye has now become a bit sore.
While I'm sure they won't consider this as applicable for workman's comp (and if I tried to claim it as such it would probably be more hassle than it's worth), if I can get it classified as a medical issue, I might be able to get insurance to pay for part of the visit. I have regular insurance (praise the Lord), but don't yet qualify for the company's vision plan.
Thank you all so much for your help, concerns, and maybe I can even ask for a few prayers. I'll keep you posted as I find out more today.
