Some people might dislike or not agree with this post, and that's fine. I mean, I'm not trying to coerce you or anything.
...but you know what really sucks? When you think about your family, friends, or someone you know, see regularly or care about.... The reality is that we all will enviably die, and there's only two ultimate results for what we chose to do while we were living.
One is that we come to Jesus, and get adopted into The Father God's family both while alive on Earth and in the afterlife.
The other is that we live for ourselves, others, cultures, philosophies, academics, or whatever it may be that draws us away from God, takes His place, and ultimately leads us to eternal death rather than eternal life. We tend to call that Hell, both while alive and in the afterlife.
...so, what's the sucky part and reason I brought up those you know and love? For those of us who choose Jesus and His family, even though we die, we will live and be together again forever (eternity & heaven). Those who chose other than Jesus; however, no matter how dear to us, will die in their sins and be eternally lost...we'll never see or be with them again...and even if we do see them, like the story of Lazurus and the rich man, they'll be in eternal death and the flames of Hell. No more chances. No way to fix or change that.
In movies, when the protagonist sees his/her loved ones die and gets a chance to go back and change time and 'fate', he/she does so frantically and relentlessly out of a mixture of love, urgency, the fear of the reality of losing them, etc...
What about us in real life with the reality of both spiritual and physical life and death for eternity? Are we saved, and if so... Isn't there anyone else you want to save? Isn't there someone you would frantically fight against time and 'fate' for?
