I'm surrounded by people who are pretty certain that they could live my life far better than I'm doing it. Every single decision I make is under scrutiny and open for ridicule and judgment by a few select members of my family.

I know this happens to people a lot- families are often cruel to each other, I am not the first person to experience this from the people I was raised by/with.

That doesn't make it hurt any less.

I feel selfish, in a way, because I know everyone has their own struggles and pain, and yet here I am somehow expecting my family to show a little kindness just because of my current situation. Just because they're my family. I somehow thought that because of their own pasts, they might be compassionate, rather than angry and demeaning.

This is the type of thing I've just walked out on...
but you can't divorce your family.

And maybe some of them are right about me; maybe they see something I don't. I'm not unwilling to listen...but it's awfully hard to hear any truth when it's buried in insults.

Youngest of 6 here. I have an older sister who I love dearly but who has to tell me how she would do things if she was me. There's always someone who wouldn't do this, but would do that, there's always someone who's kids were/are perfect, who's home is immaculately clean, who's Husband would never get away with this or that, who would love to tell you how to spend your money, how to raise your kids, how to worship God, how to do it there way. It's really quite annoying especially when there is an underlying insult attached.

Unless you are a Saint who's never said or done the wrong thing you should MYOB! or just listen and support, if someone asks you for your advice give you sincere thought, not some mumbo jumbo how everything that you do is made of glitter and rainbow unicorns.

I am so sorry you have to deal with that. Unless you and your children are in some sort of danger you should be able to think for yourself without others harsh judgement.

may or may not have shared that I put in for a promotion last week or so. I really think it would be better in the short term for someone from their dept to get it, but long term, I may be a better choice.
The supervisor from that dept talked to me, explaining what I already knew - that she, being a transfer from our dept herself, needs one who is familiar with her dept's procedures, so she is in emergency mode, opting for the quick fix, blah blah blah.
Not really upset. Just glad I went for it. The main benefit of this job over others is the flexibility, which isn't as important now that my kids are older.
Of course, if trying to buy a place, it may behoove me to stay put over getting
a new job, even if it's better paying.

ugh! grown up problems

Cracked opened a jar of swirly pasta, a couple cans of tomato sauce and mushrooms and put 'em together. TADAAA!!! Made myself a snack! lol I think I deserve a golden star for not burning down the house. Well, one day of a nobody missing work won't shift Earth's entire history. So, I'm sitting here, eating, watching a movie and wondering about things.

I just fell over. I was trying to be all smooth and take off my boots without having to sit down. So I was in the middle of the living room, standing on one leg. I think I would have been fine if I hadn't gotten cramps in both my calves at the same time. Anyway, I crashed onto the floor, which I could tell my downstairs neighbor appreciated by the way she started thumping on her ceiling with what I'm guessing was a broom handle. Or maybe a Swiffer.

I don't really get why she was mad, it's not like I normally crash around my apartment at 2:30 in the morning. Plus, I'm certain that if she knew why I fell over in the first place, she'd have had nothing but the deepest sympathy- or maybe I'm delusional. But really, there's plenty of women out there who have gotten stuck in their knee-high boots before...and nearly died in the process of trying to remove them...yes?

What I don't understand is why I'm still awake.
this made me laugh.

several years ago i was taking off a pair of heels via the bent knee, reaching backward and pulling it off my foot. it was right before i'd been diagnosed with pretty bad anemia and i got lightheaded right at that moment and totally fell over like a tree.

it was a lovely, humbling moment. wearing a shortish skirt, surrounded by a bunch of co-workers.

luckily no one sang "i see london, i see france...".

Awww, we have ads now. I suppose it had to happen sooner or later.
i don't understand why everyone doesn't have ABP and ghostery. i don't see ads AT ALL. not on youtube, not here, not really anywhere...

(pssst...if you're using firefox, Adblock is a GREAT option.)
yes. adblock plus (ABP) and ghostery work well with chrome and firefox, which are my two main browsers.

you will only see the format changes (narrowing column) but no actual ads, so i can only tell where the ads probably are.

it makes for a much more pleasant browsing experience.

p.s. in other news, my stupid microwave broke. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Wow. The sad thing is, I didn't even notice the ads until you mentioned it. My brain just kind of automatically went "Text is in a smaller space now, only need to look at that part, that's the only important part." Yes I've been accused of being unobservant before.

Ads? Ugh. Why can't they be positioned between posts, instead of crammed alongside posts?

I agree, there might be a better place to put the ads; they could probably stand to be tweaked.
But in general, if they help to finance the site, I'm for em.

You know...I've thought of doing Almond milk for coffee again. The creamer that I use for my coffee has titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide has no place in my food or drinks. -_- So I'm thinking of getting almond milk, steaming it, and buying some naturally flavored and sweetened syrups. So I'm wondering if any of you knew the best way to go about this?

i can probably give you about 5 delicious options for non dairy creamer, but the easiest and probably the tastiest (in my opinion) is using dried coconut milk powder. plus the coconut milk offers a bit of sweetness on its own.

i get mine at the health food store from the bulk bin and while it's not cheap, it makes better coconut milk than anything you can get from a can. in fact the only thing better is making your own, which is another option but requires a few steps and a bit of time.

it's still cheaper than buying those crummy packaged artificially nasty coffee creamers.

then if you want more flavor, go with the monin syrups. i use them all the time in my protein shakes. i've got several sugar free ones, and they're sweetened with erythitol, which is a naturally derived sugar free sweetener.

The most common uses of titanium dioxide are commercial and industrial. It is a component of just about every paint product you will ever purchase. I was shocked to read on Wiki that it is used in food products as a colorant (coffee creamer to make it white).

Yeah, I knew that. The same thing that goes in paint should not go in food. I don't care what color my food is as long as it tastes good.

See, and people wonder why I think the FDA is conspiring against us.

Yeah, coconut does have a bit of sweetness. I've looked into making my own almond flour (not that hard), almond milk (pretty hard), along with coconut milk and flour (ain't nobody got time for that!! I WISH I did, and I wish it weren't so messy). It'd be a heck of a lot cheaper, though....it's a trade-off and I might have to look into it.

Monin syrups? Okay. :) I'll look into them!

Also I'm so glad you didn't mention any soy alternatives, because I forgot to mention I like to watch my soy intake. Soy isn't the greatest for you, whether it's organic and non-GMO or not. It's kind of the junk food that's claimed to be a healthy food...not a fan.

people who don't know what they're doing or talking about shouldn't be giving advice to people who actually need help.
