Regarding Disney movies...I actually havent seen all of them and never been to disneyland but they do have some catchy songs, even if they are improbable.

Let it go.

Apparently PLTravers hated what Disney did to Mary Poppins. But Mary Poppins was single!

Aladdin was pretty good. But what actually happened is Princess Jasmine actually didnt end up marrying Aladdin until the third straight to video installment. Rather, it was more about Genie being free.

Ironic for someone who has a pic of an anime as their profile.
I'm with Mel on this one.

Disney movies can't take all of the fall.

I know other kinds of anime are also very popular right now but no matter what kind of entertainment you watch, it always features characters who have unattainable characteristics (looks, charm, abilities, etc.), all under a guise that makes us THINK we can attain someone like that -- and sets us all up for unrealistic expectations.

I was watching some documentaries in which it was said that many people in Japan are not getting married because the person they are looking for in real life is based on their favorite anime characters.

I remember years ago there was a young man here writing about how he had fallen in love with his favorite female anime character, and why couldn't he just find a girl like her?

Well love... I hate to break it to you but... Just like a Disney prince or princess, She. Ain't. Real.

Forgive me for being harsh, but it seems like you’re just being very hard on yourself and relationships in general at the moment. This may be a result of very hard and unfair things happening, which I won’t judge.

All I can say is God doesn’t promise everyone will have a spouse. What He does promise is if you find a spouse it’s a good thing. And He wants to give us good things. If it’s in His plan, then that’s awesome. But I think we gotta focus on Him and His kingdom first.

Aren't you the young lady who posted songs on CC? If so you are talented, cute and I wonder why you almost sound forlorn. Since we can't go to physical church right now, there are many YT and FB groups starting up with all sorts of formats. That's how my son met his wife and many others I know. You certainly seem like you would be a hit (in a good sense.lol).
Prayers really work, if you believe in them. 'All things are possible with God' and it's not such a stretch to think the right guy will come along for you. I pray God gives you the desires of your heart, as He says He will:)(y).
Ok pardon me, I am going to edit this comment. I'm trying to remember whose avatar yours reminds me of:).

Why don't you start one featuring the things you're interested in. Make it an adventure and do it with prayers. One lady at church is in her 50's w/grown kids and met her husband on FB in a group chat, and he moved to SoCal from another state.

Not really. Disney is all about discovering you're a princess, or becoming one, when the prince, who is made just for you, comes along and makes your entire life better forever.
Not sure that quite describes most anime.
This is incorrect - Disney is not all about discovering you’re a princess etc, lets look at:
- Moana - she wasn’t even a princess, she wanted to know her roots and where her people came from.
- Mulan - again, an ordinary woman who set out to honour her father as he couldn’t take part in war due to his old age.
- Frozen - did Elsa get her prince? I don’t think so lol.
- Tangled - poor girl just wanted to know what it was like outside of her tower.

((Thanks to my nieces and nephews is how I know all about Disney 😂)).

The List goes on. But that wasn’t my point. Kim pretty much said it in her post, also I said it’s ironic for him/her to trash Disney movies when he/she has a anime picture (cartoon) as their profile.

Disney = mostly fictional, animated movies.
Anime = mostly if not all fictional, animated movies/tv programmes.

Personally I think it's a bunch of crap and some people watched way too many Disney movies growing up. Do you honestly believe in real life, the nerdiest kid in school would get the hot cheerleader? Hell no. I think people like me are probably just better off alone. Don't get me wrong, I kinda want to believe there is someone out there who would actually care about me, but after 26 years with no friends or relationships, it seems like hope is lost. Am I just hopeless or am I right?
well, I actually prayed for my soulmate 8 years ago, and all I got was a group of narcissist the whole time. It has been quite a journey, and here I am 8 years still single, at my age time is running out. #perplexed

I have been binging on Netflix the past ten days, watching romantic comedies and drawn to watch in particular age gap movies, him older, her younger, go figure.

So 4 don't fit the mold, while the rest do. Not much of an argument.
Also animated fiction is not really relevant. His point was the Content, not the delivery method. So I see no irony at all.

Perhaps because soulmates are a pagan concept, not a biblical one.

That four is just a small portion of Disney movies that aren’t all about what you think or say that they are about - There’s a lot more than just the four that I mentioned.

Again, I never mentioned anything about his content, just pointed out the irony of him bashing on Disney animated films vs his Anime pic. Simple.

https://www.beliefnet.com/inspiration/articles/what-does-the-bible-say-about-soul-mates.aspx yes, I thought so too, until I researched the topic. The man receives her with joy, and the reader is told that from this moment a man will leave his parents to "cling" to a woman, the two becoming one flesh
The idea of a soul mate is two people being created for the purpose of one another. So that would suggest Jonathan and David were created for one another romantically, according to this article. Even in the subtitles of the article it talks about romantic love, then they go on to talk about two men being soul mates. Seems like a legit source...
The Deut scripture isn't literal. Saying 'as' makes it a comparison, not a literal statement.
Nor does SoS suggest any spiritual connection intended by God.

Nothing contextually convincing in that article.

Your view of soul mates may differ from God's. Maybe reconsider your definition of a soul mate.

There are many couple I can think of at both the churches I attend, that would say they are married to their soul-mate. Two people equally-yoked with the same perspective and dedication, I would consider soulmates.
