I'm kinda really afraid to actually read any posts here except the first one. Is it as much of a train wreck as I suspect?
No. Us evil feminist women infiltrated it before it happened.

I'll just throw this out there...

I really like being a stay-at-home wife and mom, and I like that my husband cares more about how our kids are raised than he does about having fancy stuff, and I like what I do around here.

Just because *I* like it, doesn't mean every other woman has to.

...backing away slowly now...

I'm pretty sure its the other way around... women since forever, have been primerly stay at home moms. The key word is "primerly."

I recall families living in factories... according what I remember being taught in History 101. Sure, but I think its still amazing for women to be primerly focused on thier childrens well-being. The keyword is "primerly." I also think scripture shows a picture of a good wife in proverbs 31... which mainly supports the idea of a stay at home mom. Also...
1 Timothy 5:14

14 So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their households, and give the adversary no occasion for slander.
Perhaps I should have clarified that I meant stay at home vs work at home. These women worked for the most part regardless of the location. Many were farmers, seamstresses, maids, cooks, or other jobs, not necessarily professions.

i guess this is one reason that women have to take the mans place. This is 2 yrs of payments
THAT?...is ridiculous. Why is he not paying more? $6 a day for a child is clearly not enough to eat on...and i'm basing off the assumption you have one child. He is scum.

I loved being SAHM, too! And that's great that you have that opportunity.

It just isn't the only valid parenting choice—which you have pointed out as well. =)

If a family is made up of both dad and mum and they have a child, I believe one of the parents should stay home to raise the child in their early years and the other should work (it's important to spend a lot of time with your child when they're young). When the child goes off to school, there would be no problem with both parents working, as long as one has shorter hours than the other (to accommodate their children).

Too many children barely know their parents because they're working all the time and looked after almost always by child care centres or babysitters and nannies. That's not fair on children. They should know their parents, and well. If you don't have time for children, don't have them. Simple.

I personally would like to have the option to be a keeper at home, but I have no problem with working either. If I ever get married and have children I definitely want to be the one to teach them and raise them up. If I get married and have no children... who knows maybe I'll finally open myself a bakery :p

gotcha. I wasn't sure if that was government aid or child support from the father. Still $35 a week is ridiculous. I admire you as a mother.

That comes out to 19 cents per day, actually. :(

I'm not saying that mum should stay at home to look after the child, although that would be ideal in the very early years (regarding the special mother and child bond). The fact is that some dads are better with their children than mums. It doesn't make either parent any less special, they just have different roles and strengths.
