Positive.
Count calories
Eat less
Move more
Sweets are a treat, not a staple.

Negative
Count every nuance of sugar, carb, etc.
Drink and eat at these specific micro times.
Any other tip that creates the equivalent of a city's code of ordinances with points, and sub points, and overwhelms.
Basically turning eating well into something only Barney Fife would enjoy enforcing.

Yes the Barney Fife diet!

I've heard of it before, I'm pretty sure. I haven't seen it anywhere locally. But that's what Amazon is for.... :)
Check the baking aisle near the spices

The good part is you didnt tell me to just add cheese, lol!
I wouldn't go there.......if I did you'd just have one more post to this thread

But my sister's fiance eats 0 veggies. I don't judge but having two very different diets in the house makes it hard to cook the way I like things. I'll find a way, though! I'm doing this! :)

Tell Zach if he doesn't like what you made he has two choices......eat around the veggies, or cook for himself.

I. WISH. We already just tolerate each other, lol. Better not completely get on his bad side. XD I might just have to cook small dishes for myself and say forget about it. :p It's either that or prepare better to where we can divide things up in advance...

This is too complicated. I like your idea. If I get yelled at by someone I'll tell 'em you said for me to say it. :p lolol

worst dieting tip comes from all those people who say I need to exercise too!

I mean, like....c'mon here! Let's not get crazy...

It works though... really well.

You even get to eat crappy food in moderation with exercise. It's magic.

Not promoting Weight Watchers at all, but I just recently saw this ad (below) and thought they did a fantastic job of highlighting the idea of eating your feelings.

Good tip I've come across: Eat consciously

^^^ (Hellooo's video)

I can totally relate to this!!! I had to smile at the lady on the treadmill who was eating a corn dog. I've eaten plenty of times while on the elliptical trainer, often because I'm in a hurry and grabbing dinner in between work and dashing off somewhere else.

My worst offense was eating a bag of Lay's potato chips (one of my favorites) during a "workout."

One of my bosses was telling me that during the holidays, his greatest exertion of energy was making rounds from the living room to the kitchen while carrying a plate, and sitting for hours at a time in between. I was like, "Well, they say it's important to rest between laps!"

I know of one guy who worked out every day and ate junk food. Someone said if he didn't eat all that junk he wouldn't have to work so hard to stay in shape. He said he was working out so much so he COULD eat junk food and still be in shape.

Oh well, whatever works for him I guess...

our son and (almost) sil have silly discussions about whose gym is better.

our son tells his friend, any gym that has bagel day and pizza day is a lousy gym!

This pizza gym does not by any chance forbid grunting while working out does it?

If so, then I understand why someone wouldn't want to go there. It's a great place though if you're just starting out, or if you don't want to lift weights (which is good because they don't have squat racks any more).

Different strokes for different folks. I'd rather go somewhere and have people look at me funny as the guy who's 50 lbs (wait, no 40) overweight for the kind of weights he throws around. I'm healthy, and I know I'm losing weight every so slowly - I'm only going for a half a pound of week of weight loss, or I can't throw heavy weights around as much as I'd like to because dieting makes me weak. Some people really don't like being judged at the gym and need a different environment.

Or you chose option C and get some used equipment off of Craigslist. Sometimes you can even score a rack and some olympic weights for not a lot of money. If you're in an apartment, find a friend/relative/random garage that will let you set up your stuff there and go to town.

Or option D, and you buy new equipment.

All four are much better options than option F - which is doing nothing.

You can just walk in the mall or outside also you can rent or buy excessive videos, or find a fitness channel on Hulu. I've done all 3 and I have had the judge experience at gyms, it stinks.

I didn't mention them by name.

I thought for sure when I said they got rid of the squat racks and they forbid grunting everybody would know the chain I was talking about.

I want to go. Once. To set off the lunk alarm.

I have friends who like going there though because it's one of the cheapest gym memberships around, and because they don't tolerate patrons laughing at other patrons.

I had no idea there was a franchise that's combined a restaurant with a gym...

Throw in Chinese food and I'm sold!!!

I bought a cheap motor less treadmill I like to walk on. Lately my sleep schedule has been thrown off, so I've been too tired to walk on it (slowly fixing that. I'm getting that under control, and I'll be back to normal soon

They use bright colors and have massage chairs in some locations, if that helps make the decision.

As long as they also provide someone to push the buttons on those massage chairs... I mean... I wouldn't want to over-exert myself or anything.

Just choosing my bagel and actually getting myself into the chair would be enough of a workout.
