I go by Ben, but my full name is Benjamin. It is a Hebrew name, usually used for the youngest child and the Hebrew meaning of Benjamin is "Son of the right hand." I gained an appreciation for my name after reading this long ago...

An often neglected curiosity is the disproportionally important role of the tribe of Benjamin in the development of Israel, or even the very pattern of redemption displayed by the Bible:The city of Jerusalem was originally assigned to Benjamin (Judges 1:21). The tribe of Benjamin was decimated after the atrocities committed in Gibeah (Judges 19-21) but still, a generation later Israel's first king was from the surviving remnant of Benjamin (1 Samuel 9:1). Mordecai, whose adopted daughter Esther helped to avoid Israel's annihilation, was a Benjaminite (Esther 2:5). And the apostle Paul, who authored half the New Testament, was from the tribe of Benjamin as well (Philippians 3:5).

I gave my children spiritual names while they were in utero. My oldest son, "Strength" - my younger son, "Love" - and my daughter "Joy". Their given birth names similar: "Leader" - "Descended of God" - "New Wine". It's uncanny how they all three developed into those very characteristics. :)

Mine is Sydney, and it says :

"The meaning of Sydney has more than one different etymologies. It has same or different meanings in other countries and languages. The different meanings of the name Sydney are:

  • English meaning: Wide island; Contraction of St. Denys

I'm not sure of the exact translation but I'm pretty sure my name in any language means, "Trouble"... :p:cool:;)

Abing, the Van Damme avatars are a nice flashback!! It makes me want to start yelling, "Kumite!" or "Matte!" (Bloodsport.)

On the other hand... Have you seen him lately? I just saw a trailer for his most recent film and I admit I was a little shocked. Poor guy. He could run his own one-man poster campaign: "Don't Do Drugs... Because This Is What It Looks Like Later On."

If I told you that I would have to change it :p.

But, mine means something like 'God is gracious' or 'gift from God.' It also means 'tired one' on Tuesdays , but I digress.
