Naturally, midnight to 2 am...

But since I have something called a "job" which requires me to wake up by 5:30 am, I aim for 9-10 pm... But usually can't fall asleep until 1-2 hours later, unless I am super exhausted from an awesome day.

3 a.m. or three days later. No joke. I have been trying to start a routine with healthy sleeping cycles but it is proving to be impossible. I do not want to go to sleeping pills. They make me into a zombie. Anyone got ideas/advice?
WOW O.O; 3 days of no sleep??? :eek: that's dangerous, Sister!!!

I don't want to scare you, but it could lead to developing psychiatric problems if it's not resolved :( as a doctor, I am genuinely concerned for insomniacs. It's a common sign/symptom of those who eventually developed schizophrenia...

I personally wouldn't advocate the use of sleeping pills (like Diazepam - popular brand being Valium, and other Barbiturates. They have a depressant effect, as well as the ability to predispose a patient/taker to become dependent on the drug). Sleeping pills are the last recourse.

You could start by making sure that your sleeping area is conducive for sleep: comfy (as in, pillows, mattress, and/comforters that suit you), cozy (the kind of lighting you like - dim or none, or a certain color that relaxes you), quiet or ambient (try the sound of waves, flowing water, shower, leaves through trees), and pleasant smelling/scentless. It depends on what you find soothing or relaxing. Don't take any kind of stimulant (coffee, string tea, energy drinks, food and drinks with high sugar content). Avoid having a tv or PC or telephone, or anything that sparks too much attention or interest in that sleeping area. And best of all, prayer :) leave all your concerns in HIS able hands (if something is bothering your thoughts, and being the main reason keeping you awake), or simply ask HIM to enable you to get the sleep you need daily :)

Aside des from the above suggestions, instead of sleeping pills, you could take something more natural, like Melatonin (a hormone naturally produced by our body to induce sleep) once daily before bedtime, or Chamomile Tea (a popular relaxing tea drink).

i hope my suggestions help :) GOD bless you, Dear Sister, and everyone battling with insomnia!!!

Now, as for my sleep schedule :rolleyes: Hmmm...

It depends on the activities for that day.

* When at work (as an ambulance/medical doctor):
- no cases after lunch -> sleep @ 2pm-5pm (Siesta)
- no cases after dinner -> sleep @ 9pm-7:30am
- with cases -> unpredictable sleep schedule (emergencies don't care about your sleep schedule!!!), or may mean I may not get any sleep at all XD depends on the number of cases, and what time they call up/arrive at our base.

* When at home
- busy with cleaning/laundry, or reading, or playing video games, or CC -> sleep @ around 1 or 2 or 3am 'til 7 or 8am
- busy with nothing -> sleep @ around 10 or 11pm 'til 5:30 or 7:30am
- exhausted from work -> sleep @ around 3 or 4pm 'til 5 or 6pm, then retire @ 1-2am
- spending time with Descyple -> up 'til 3am or 7am :p the 12-hour difference we have is totally whacked!!! XD sometimes, he's the one who loses sleep over me :rolleyes: I get all lightheaded and dizzy and borderline maniacal when I'm up for almost 24 hours, but it's all worth it!!! ;):eek:

On weekdays, I go to bed anytime between 11:30 pm - 12:30 am and I wake up by 7:00 am. If it is a holiday, then I sleep by 2:00 am and wake up by 10:00 am. I don't know what is a weekend because I work all 7 days.

Sleeping is one thing I am very good at. I once slept for 36 hours at a stretch. My hostel-mates thought I had committed suicide because I didn't show up in class for two days.
