Thanks! Yeah, my dad is one of those men. We make fun of each other about it incessantly. Sometimes I'll put on the gay accent to throw him off a bit. Oh the fun we have.

Your post shows your age.. you want every one to follow an old model than no longer applys in this day and age.
There is an old model - which is still the best model - which applies to every age (because it is unchanging) - and that model is the Lord Jesus Christ.

...the term Real man just sounds like some old dude chopping wood.
Perhaps, but he is an old dude who:

~ is honest.
~ has integrity.
~ knows right from wrong.
~ knows that he knows right from wrong.
~ knows who he is, and what he stands for - in great detail.
~ has a solid steady foundation, with his feet planted deeply in it.
~ is not consumed with worldly things and the worldly way of doing things.
~ does not waver in his beliefs or morals for the sake of convenience or worldly profit.

In other words, he is a Real Man. :D

I like what you had to say too, GRA! Thanks for the good words. I'm trying my best with God's help to be a righteous man. It is a difficult for me, but God is leading me for sure. I would have so much less without Him, and I know that I would be a more wicked man without Him.

Thank you, God, for saving me from my own wickedness.

Oncefallen said a meaningful mouthful.

I just felt like that needed saying...

It was the way I was raised.

In my lifetime, I have seen the disturbing changes --- Real Men are a dying breed...

I'm sorry Oncefallen. I did not mean to steal or kill your thread. I was just basically saying that I tend to agree with what you were saying... :)

EDIT: ...and was defending it with my remarks. :D

Some threads should be short as there are some values that are worth being agreed upon.

Timbo2computers: i am a youngin' to and i have to say that i would like to have a 'real man' as a husband in my future. Not a man who only can weep and sit down whatching TV. Not someone who cares so much about his clothes and hair as most of the men are doing right now. But a man i can trust and i can look up to, feel safe with. A 'real man'!

I think Jesus was a perfect model of a man without fear. quote]

That is not true! Jesus was a man who has feared extremely hard in the night before he died on the cross. He has feeled much more fear then we will ever be able to and then we will ever have to deal with. But he didn't let the fear get in his way. He walked true the extremely fear and has been looking up to his father to get support. And if that wasn't enough fear and pain to deal with, he has been left alone with his fear. No people to get help from, no Father to get help from. Only Jesus Christ and the fear. And Jesus Christ won, and became our only way to the Lord, to heaven. Our Saviour!

:D WELL, I ASKED THIS SAME QUESTION A WHILE BACK. BUT IF YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR YOU WILL SEE A REAL MAN, ONCEFALLEN:):D . I ALSO THINK THERE ARE MANY HERE ON CC TOO. YES THERE IS THE BREAKDOWN IN SOCIETY, BUT SHOULDN'T BE SO IN OUR LIVES AS BELIEVERS. SCHOOLS ESPECIALLY PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS ARE A BIG FACTOR OF THIS. THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF CLUBS TO JOIN, BUT DON'T TALK ABOUT JESUS, LIKE YOU SEE THE GARBAGE CAN AT THE DOOR, DON'T FORGET TO DROP YOUR BIBLES IN IT. I DO LOVE THE WORDS THAT SAY, HUSBANDS LOVE YOUR WIFES EVEN AS CHRIST AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR HER. IT SAYS A LOT, PROTECTOR ETC. THESE DAYS HAVE EMPLOYED MANY AT THE FEAR FACTORY, WHERE DREAD OF TOMORROW ROB'S TODAY'S BRIGHT FUTURE OF THE AMERICAN DREAM, OR A BELIEVERS HOPE OF THE FULL LIFE. THE VERSE THAT SAYS, THOUGH THE CITY BURNS DOWN AROUND ME, I SHALL NOT BE MOVED. STRONGE STEADY WITH PEACE, LOOKING UNTO THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD. :D:D:):cool:

A couple of things got me thinking today, one was a post Jullianna made here last night, the other was a video someone had played in chat that was on a similar subject.

The thought came to mind that the number of real men is diminishing rapidly in our society today. So many of the younger generation it seems end up growing up to being overgrown boys instead of men and even among my own generation there are a huge number of men who although they show male maturity, in some way they have been emasculated. I look at how society has changed over the years and to me it is no small wonder that this has happened, in many ways normal male behavior has become demonized even in the church. We go to church and hear about a meek and mild Jesus and see artwork that depicts him as a shepherd carrying a lamb, and completely miss His masculinity.

Let's take a look at His life and see what we're missing. It sure wasn't a wimp that stood up to the religious leaders of the day and called them out for what they were, an brood of vipers. It wasn't an emasculated man that drove the corrupt money changers out of the temple courts with a whip. No "girlie man" (loved that one Gov. Schwarzenneger) would have willingly suffered the pain and torment of scourging and crucifixion to save others when He could have simply disappeared. No one but a complete man could have inspired countless other men to go to their own deaths because of their faith in Him.

It's time for men once again to step up to the plate and be REAL men and quit whining about everything that isn't right in their lives. A real man doesn't objectify women by consuming porn. A real man doesn't belittle those around himself so he can stand out. A real man has compassion for the weak and hurting. A real man closes his mouth instead of lashing out in anger. A real man doesn't compromise his values because they aren't popular. A real man treats a woman like a lady, not an accessory. I could fill a page with the traits of a real man, but I think you get the point.

Want a Godly wife? Only a real man is going to catch her eye.

Well said "Oncefallen" :)

I could talk to those boys about anything and they would open up because they knew I what was being said was done so in confidence and that I would not judge them. In fact, I could ask those boys for anything and they would do it without hesitation, not because they feared me but because they respected me.
Could you elaborate on this? Not because they feared me, but because they respected me. I know it's off the topic, but I need to know about this because I'm courting someone. I had to get her father's permission, so it's that kind of family. And her father and her and her mother all think that she needs to have someone willing to keep her in line when she's married. Like as in punish her if necessary. I know how left field this is. And I have a hard time embarrassing it because it seems like when a woman is married, then she shouldn't be treated like a child any more. That's part of growing up. Living with whatever consequences naturally happen. Plus, how would it be equal for me to not have the same accountability? I see a definite problem with their beliefs.
