Nothing like a Miata. Giant wind-up toy car that's simply missing the big key in the back..
Truly spoken as one who has never driven one.
Just saw this post!

Don't worry Shour, I was saying this in jest. People used to say the same thing about my beloved PT Cruiser (that it was a giant wind-up car that was missing its key.) I loved that car, even though it made horribly wide turns and I had to let her go because the underneath was rusting out. I would have gladly gotten another but they'd stopped making them by then.

My car said, "Touring Edition" on the back but one of my co-workers said that since it looked like an old gangster car, what it really should have said was, "Drive-By Edition", which I thought was pretty funny.

My Dad was actually looking at a Miata several years ago but knew it was too small for their needs (aka, several bags of golf clubs) and wound up with a different kind of convertible instead.

I just posted this on the 'Speak Your Mind' thread but thought it appropriate here as well. :)

I'd take any Ferrari over the Veyron :p. That Cobra is beautiful though, as usual!
Cobra is a classic. Love that car but they are so expensive in SA. Even a Jeep is expensive to drive here in sunny SA :(

Ferrari is also one of my favourites but there is something about the Veyron and price wise I think it is far more expensive than some Ferraris. (I said money is not an option  )

i think the Mazda 3's look very nice. their interior's are really comfortable too, and they are overall very sharp cars.
i prefer the hatchbacks though.

i have a WRX wagon. i looked at the mazda3 wagons when i got my car, because they are comparable in size etc, and every time i see one i think how much more visually appealing they are, but even the mazdaspeed 3 is slower and far less capable handling curves and sudden turns/stops than my car, and they are not AWD like mine, and from my own and others experience i think the Subaru is more reliable overall, though it was about 10k more to spend, and the mazda3 gets better mpg, i love my car and have no regrets. i'm really thankful God put me in a position to afford it at the time i did - i couldn't afford it right now, but it's all paid off and has been stellar as far as reliability. ugly to look at, but 'decent' on fuel considering it's capability, fantastic to drive and wonderfully low maintenance.

the velosters are silly IMO. i laugh at them when i see them. they put a lot of design $$ into looking "cool" and fast, but they are slow and do not have much space inside. i've heard a lot of good things about the scions, but never looked into them because i wanted the extra room and utility of a hatchback / small wagon.

the scions seem like a teenager car to me - probably because of their low cost and how many people buy turbo kits for them and rag them out. i respect that they are good cars for how relatively little they cost, but i like the Mazdas look better. if i hadn't cared about acceleration and handling as much, or lived where i had to deal with snow & ice & steep hills in the winter, i would probably be driving this:

mazda.jpg

but i love a car that can fit a new refrigerator in the back if it needs to, but can also accelerate like a mustang GT, handle like a BMW z4, and that just laughs giddily when it sees snow on the road. so i drive (a slightly modified version of) this:

I prefer hatchbacks too but I think the mazda3 sedan looks nicer than the new shoe-shape of the h/b version even though it's more popular. That's awesome that you got a hold of the WRX! If my budget was more forgiving I'd definitely be looking at Subaru or Mitsubishi.

Yeah the Velo is a turtle even with the turbo, lol. But on the plus side you could tell people that you drive the same car as Rhys Millen in the Global Rallycross
:p. Aside from the stigma though, I think Scion has good qualities all around since it's basically a Toyota in reliability. But its just asking to be modded as opposed to Mazda which looks best with the stock body. So that might mean the Scion gets more glances from traffic cops. :(

What does that even MEAN? I've wrecked my Miata, and did nothing of the sort.

Truly spoken as one who has never driven one.

Technically, that's true of ANY vehicle carrying combustible fluids. So...uh, yeah. Just like EVERY OTHER CAR ON THE ROAD. On the other hand...if you're making a joke about the Ford Pinto...I don't even know how that relates here. I suppose we could talk about elephants for a while, and then someone could make a vague reference to a raccoon for some odd reason, since...they're both mammals, I guess.

*is so confused*
Are you trying to defend your GIRL car, Shor?

just kidding!! :D Its a cool car, man.

Mazda 3:

Scion tC:

Hyundai Veloster:

Ok here's my 2 cents..

The most personality award goes to the Veloster, but it probably has too little interior room. Out of the three I would pick the Mazda 3 because 1) its a good-looking car for being a sedan, and 2) because I never really liked the design of the Scion TC. It just looks boxy to me.

Now, if I was looking for a car in the general range of these three I would get an Infinity G35 coupe.. which is most likely what my next car will be if/when I can afford another one..

God has been very generous to me :)

i don't even covet other cars; i really really love what i have!
if i see something more versatile, i think "this car gets better mileage, handles much better, is faster"
if i see something faster i think "but it is only faster in a straight line" or "yes but i have a back seat, and i can haul 50 bags of mulch"
she's only ugly on the outside, and we know that's not what matters
;)

we are probably going to get my wife one of these in a year or two:
XV-Crosstrek.jpg

and if they would just sell these in America, with a manual gearbox and ~350hp, this will probably be my next car:
p5yUpp2dkaaVp6U.jpg

i used to like the Audi A3 wagons, and Mercedes makes a neat little hatchback now (GLA45), and BMW has an x-drive wagon about the same size, but they aren't manual and that much $$$ for a car, i would be afraid to ever scratch it or get it dirty - what use is a car you are afraid to use? even if i won the lttery i would probably have something very much like what i have.

thank God for making us satisfied - i am already blessed beyond what i deserve, auto-wise.
it is true what the commercials say - "love" is what makes a subaru, a subaru.

those are slick -- basically a Nissan 350 / 360 Z with luxury options.

powerful RWD + foul weather = nightmare, though. do they make them in AWD?

since i had a son, i don't even consider 2-door cars anymore :p

When i was young i used to own a 74 Holden Torana, and i used to do all the work myself, there was nothing i could not do myself, even the brakes.

Today i have a 2004 Mazda Tribute, great car but seriously, i cannot even replace the spark plugs, and where the oil filter is located i have no idea??

These days if you can figure out how to do maintenance on a modern vehicle, i suggest you go and take a job as a scientist with the air force and help them figure out how crashed alien spacecraft work, because you have that ability!!!!!

Don't see many of those! One of the rare road cars that actually looks good with an oversized spoiler. :p

As for the ones posted, the Scion tC looks more my type.
I drive a Ford Focus, which I really like. Sporty, simple, clean and good mileage.

But my fave has always been a 70's Vette. Love them, pure awesomeness.
And I've always had a soft spot for '70 Road Runners too. Wish I kept the one I had when I was a kid. Oh well...
