1 Corinthians 7:25-33
25 Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.

26 I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.

27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.

28 But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.

29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

30 And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;

31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:

33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.

Revelation 14:1-5

1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Revelation 17:1-6
1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:

2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

5 And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth.

6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

Revelation 18:1-8

1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.

7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

Revelation 19:1-16
1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

3 And again they said, Alleluia And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.

5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.
I see no mention in here about the summons of the Master as the year started

Ooooo...kay! First we have multiple people insinuating the OP is prideful and boasting about being a virgin, and now Lanolin speculates it might be a play to find a mate. That's real nice.

Some of y'all are totally clueless.

Let me paint this picture for you, and maybe you'll understand where this thread is coming from. Where I live I can understand the thread real well - mind you, I am not happy about it, in fact I would much rather be totally innocent and lost in this thread - but with what people talk about all around me all the time on the job, I can well understand this thread.

Just about every day at w*rk somebody is talking about sex. I have learned so much I would rather not know. One woman complains that her husband is lazy in the bedroom. Another was talking about sex as exercise, because she wants to lose weight, and mentioned she has sex every night... but she is always on bottom, so she doesn't get much exercise. (As a side comment she mentioned she has a large backside. Another woman commented that she shouldn't worry about it, because the other woman had a large backside too.) And there's the person that makes it very plain when she's enduring her menstrual cycle because she complains loudly and repeatedly that her uterus is falling out.

It has reached the point that you start getting an inferiority complex about it. And that's not just me speculating... it's so pronounced that there are songs about it. Ever heard this one?
"Everybody in the world
Has more sex than me
Do you get that feeling?
Everybody in the world
Has more sex than me"
I'm not EVEN going to post the youtube link. Google the lyrics if you're curious. It's a well known song.

If you have never had sex you are seen as not a real adult yet. It is assumed you are a failure of a human being who doubtless lives in his mother's basement and will never be a real man. Every time somebody brings up the fact you are a virgin, there is the almost ritual speculation that you might be a homosexual.

And this is in southwest Tennessee, one of the more parochial parts of a conservative southeast USA. You don't want to know what it's like in a big city in a predominately liberal part of the nation.

So yeah, I can understand a thread that is basically saying "I'm still a virgin, I feel like the whole world thinks I'm stupid... is there anybody else like me out there?" I can understand that real well. Unfortunately. :cautious:

So everybody who is calling the OP a braggart or idly wondering if the OP is trying to find a mate... back off, eh? You don't have any idea what you're talking about. Come live in the USA for a while, especially in a big city. It's tougher than you think.
I don't understand the point you are making.

It seems to me that you are bothered by being a virgin. Why not just get married then? Unlike others who want to get married but don't because they haven't found anyone suitable. You have chosen to stay single.

So if that is your choice, why complain? I don't understand.

Going_Nowhere seems to be saying, he isn't bothered by being a virgin, and will stay a recluse and a virgin for the rest of his life, and he is OK with that.

But wanting others to announce that they are virgins? What's up with that? It's a private matter.

And besides, it really isn't important.

What's important as Cinder pointed out, is that you are not addicted to porn, or fornicating or committing adultery.

If someone started a thread with the topic: "I'm single and celibate. Anyone else?" I would also find it weird. Because isn't it natural that single Christians would be abstaining?

If someone accused that person of boasting, I could not blame them.

It's not that you are to never talk about it. But it must be done in the right context.

I don't understand the point you are making.
I took it as "in the modern climate Christians who are virgins later in life still need to hear the crazy worldly opinions and discussions about sex regularly... sometimes it can be frustrating so if someone posts a thread about it maybe listen to them them before you start imputing motives"

....

then some shared experiences

maybe I misunderstood but that is how it appeared to me....

nothing like what you thought😅

Hmm? No, not at all. I am not a bit bothered by being a virgin. I'm just bothered by all the talk about sex that goes on all the time around me.

On the other hand, it sure does make me glad I'm single. If, perish the thought, I were married to one of those women who talk about what happens in the bedroom all the time, it would drive me nuts. Hearing all that talk makes me soooooo glad I'm single.

It's the most important thing in life
The most important thing in life is salvation. Seek first the kingdom of heaven.

You hate your complexion that God gave you. Will you hate your children for their complexion too?

Hating your own race is not cool. This will be a turn off for any potential partner.

So its clear you are not ready yet. But seek God first. That is the real important thing in life.

If you're looking to your sexual history for value or comfort.... That is a problem....

If you are 24 and have been kept from actual fornication.... that is a blessing...

Nothing to hate...

Why do you think your skin tone makes it worse?
What do u mean sexual history? There is no such thing as being a virgin a blessing its actually a curse and 24 hour pain only other virgins will understand being black makes it worse for many reasons if you live in the black community it's all about sex in school outside if u look at adult stars and any rapper even tho I dislike rap music. its 90 percent black and mostly all about sex it makes it very difficult for me to be outcasted on top of that there is a physical stature black men have to live up to dont have tht either

Well....
You say

"There is no such thing as being a virgin a blessing its actually a curse"

God would disagree with this.

The racially charged stuff you say seems very biased ... even other Christians in this thread who don't share your skin tone have to face these same trials, and if you think others skin tones makes living as an adult Christian, virgin, easier on them I disagree and have seen no evidence of that.

I believe you when you say the people you have around you make you feel like an outcast with your stance on saving yourself till marriage....

Being a virgin is not the curse here, but seemingly those around you...

If someone said this to me 30 years ago, I would truly be amazed! With millennials these day's not so much. And that's a good thing. Kids these day's are'nt as sexual as my day. Having a "girl friend" or "boy friend" was a status. millennials are much more practical these day's. I'll bet that there are 100
times more virgins these day's, male and female. I do think It is much harder for women than
men though. I'm just saying, opportunity wise...

You're right.....
if you were married to someone like that, you wouldn't be very happy.
Women talking like that don't honor/respect their husbands or the marriage covenant.......
if that's how they talk behind their backs.... I'd cringe to hear how they talk to / treat their husbands face to face

I believe you are sadly mistaken if you think that the millennial generation isn't as sexual as our generation was. In reality they are by far more sexualized than we were to the point that many of them perceive performing oral sex to be no more a big deal than those in the 80's thought of a kiss. My wife used to work in a middle school and routinely came across students talking among themselves about the latest party they were at how all they guys were getting BJ's.

Wow! kid's having orgy's in middle school. That's a first for me. Never seen or heard of such. You don't think that these boy's that can't wipe their butts may have been telling stories that were a little far fetched? Lol I'm sure you've experienced that before ...

I think it more accurrate to say that the concept of sex has gone from "free love" to "what's love got to do with it?" In other words, you don't need to formalize a relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend to have sex (or sexual contact) it's just a recreational activity. I personally remember one day ( a while ago as I haven't subbed for the past 10 years or so) substitute teaching in middle school when the kids asked me what I thought about the idea of "friends with benefits". I think my response was something about selfishly exploiting each other.

Kids are traditionally between 12 and 14 years old in middle school... yeah, I can easily believe they are fooling around by then. A lot of parents just don't care enough to stop them, and some parents are even "progressive" enough to encourage them in this.

Where do you live that they don't? I might want to move over there.

I've got a 14 yr old daughter. And I assure you that it is not. Where do you people live? I'm sorry for you!
