Thanks for sharing chandler...good to hear you are a better person now. I was probably coming super strong to that guy but its not an.excuse for his bad behavior.
Yep, he should have been honest with you just as I should have been for sure.

this poem by robert service probably describes a lot of those men, i guess i'm one of them. i'm 75,with prostate cancer, and i'm in shenzhen china. wherever we are there will certainly be a hill or a mountain and we want to see what's on the other side. if the land is as flat as kansas you will probably find us looking at maps and thinking about the sights, smells and people we haven't met on the other side of the lines on a map. it might be roads and it might be the equator or international date line. i guess we aren't the kind of men who really fit relationships unless the woman always has her bags packed too

The Men Who Don't Fit In

There's a race of men that don't fit in,
A race that can't stay still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin,
And they roam the world at will.
They range the field and they rove the flood,
And they climb the mountain's crest;
Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood,
And they don't know how to rest.
If they just went straight they might go far;
They are strong and brave and true;
But they're always tired of the things that are,
And they want the strange and new.
They say: "Could I find my proper groove,
What a deep mark I would make!"
So they chop and change, and each fresh move
Is only a fresh mistake.

And each forgets, as he strips and runs
With a brilliant, fitful pace,
It's the steady, quiet, plodding ones
Who win in the lifelong race.
And each forgets that his youth has fled,
Forgets that his prime is past,
Till he stands one day, with a hope that's dead,
In the glare of the truth at last.

He has failed, he has failed; he has missed his chance;
He has just done things by half.
Life's been a jolly good joke on him,
And now is the time to laugh.
Ha, ha! He is one of the Legion Lost;
He was never meant to win;
He's a rolling stone, and it's bred in the bone;
He's a man who won't fit in.

Beautiful poem. If only those kind of men realize that by appreciating one true love then they can stop wandering and find a home in the person they truly love.

Guys why do you do that? Walk away all of a sudden when things are going smoothly?
Sometimes walking away is the more noble or courageous thing to do. To each their own reasons (or excuses).

Maybe there is something you are doing that makes them go all Roadrunner on you?

I'm guessing for the same reasons women do it.
Yes, most conditions have representation in both sexes.

there are times I wish I had done that.

Because we're stupid.

Never put a man before the Lord. Christ first...always...for He will never leave you or forsake you. Man will let you down.

Ephesians 5
[SUP]21 [/SUP][Husbands and Wives] Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

[SUP]22 [/SUP]Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. [SUP]23 [/SUP]For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. [SUP]24 [/SUP]Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

[SUP]25 [/SUP]Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her [SUP]26 [/SUP]to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, [SUP]27[/SUP]and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

If I may, let me say for all of us stupid men to all of you wonderful women, "I'm sorry for ever hurting you."

Some people don’t like to say goodbye.
Some people think it will hurt you if they say good bye, and so they just disappear.
Some people prefer that others just let them be, as if they were wild animals. That others just let them come and go as they need. Some people are just different.

Maybe we should be glad for those who disappear. Maybe we should be glad that they are different. Maybe we should be glad that we are always here for when they want to return. Maybe they have a different task in life. Maybe their journey is more than they can bear. Maybe life became too rough.

I could go on, but I think we all can come up with reasons why a person just disappears. Some are positive, some are acceptable, some are unacceptable. We need to have understanding and compassion concerning their position. They might be wrong, or as is very possible you might be wrong, or it may be that nobody is wrong. Different people deal with things in different ways.

Jonah 4:9-11
[SUP]9 [/SUP]And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death. [SUP]10 [/SUP]Then said the Lord, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night: [SUP]11 [/SUP]and should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?

Matthew 7:12
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

So, how would you want others to treat you or talk about you, if you disappeared without a word?

I’ll answer this question in respect to myself right now:
If I ever disappear without a word, then please understand that I had a very good reason and you probably won’t ever know this reason. Please show me mercy and don’t talk bad about me; and if I ever return please show me mercy and accept me back with open arms.
If I ever disappear without a word, then please don’t blame yourself, I love you regardless of who you are or what you have done. Please understand that I am different, and please accept me the way I am.

There are many reasons why men or women run. A lot of it depends on the man's age or level of aggregate life experience.

Some make the calculation that they are better off without women. Perhaps women ran out on them, so they decided that it is better to break another heart than to have their heart broken.

It sounds like the OP had to deal with it. Relationships are silly.

Mark 1:35-38
[SUP]35 [/SUP]And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. [SUP]36 [/SUP]And Simon and they that were with him followed after him. [SUP]37 [/SUP]And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee. [SUP]38 [/SUP]And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.

i've had guys disappear, and we were just friends. FRIENDS! i wasn't expecting anything to happen. so i never really understood that. i was told by a woman who is like a sister to me that more than likely said guy started liking someone, so he's spending all time and energy on that person. i prefer people be brutally honest with me, so of course the next question was "why not just tell me? i would understand." but then meh. i move on. can't let life pause for that lol
you didn't threaten to hit them with a flip flop did you?

I wish I knew. Supposedly all Fitzgeralds are related with the name originating in Ireland.

Now for the fun part…;)

We share two common ancestors that I know of, the nearest in time is Noah the son of Lamech. The other is Adam, man #1.;)
