I'm sure there are ladies here who would love to find the right guy too, but this can't happen until you get to know each other. Matches have formed here but it started out casual and as it progressed a likeness formed. Some good advise already given, stay involved with the posts and have fun. I understand your point well, if I was looking, I'd stay involved in the Forums and pray for the best. I wouldn't rush anything, if something is there, let it blossom.

We have a subforum called Family. It's intended for married people. Not sure why they'd suggest you go there to meet someone as a single.
For people to see the Real you takes time. It's not going to happen quickly. And it has to happen with people willing to take the time.
Most on this site assume they know me, only a few have ever taken the time to actually get to know me beyond my forum posts. And usually find I'm different than expected. So it happens to everyone, not just you.
It's true the singles forum here is not really here to meet a spouse, but it can happen. I met my gf on here, and neither of us were looking to find anyone, it just happened on its own.
But if you go prowling around with that intent it likely won't yield results, or not quickly.
The topics of subforums here aren't held to as tightly as they once were. The busiest two subforums are BDF (the most active, but also lots of arguing and ego) and the Singles. It's been that way a long time on this site. I think that's how Singles become a more generic subforum. People who didn't want to debate the bible could either come here or go to much slower subforums.

I know my posts are often long, but even though I try to read them through a minimum of 3 times before I post, I still almost always have typos. This is because I write everything out as I'm thinking it, then try to go back and edit -- and I often delete or add things incorrectly during my editing (I leave a word in or don't take one out.) When I reread it, my brain processes it as saying what was in my head (reading over the typos,) so I constantly miss my own mistakes. In other words, even those of us who write a lot still struggle, so don't let that stop you!
It's so funny to me how life shifts over the years. I have no coordination or athletic ability and was always one of the last kids to be picked for a team at recess. Back then, being good at sports was the criteria. In my own time, I was writing up a storm, but none of that counted on that particular playing field.
Now days, everyone is online, and so the playing field has changed to being how well one can use written words. Like anything else, there will be some criticisms -- some well-meaning, genuinely interested in helping you improve, but other times, as with anything else in life, it might be more mean-spirited.
Please don't let that stop you from trying. None of us get any better without practice, and many people just need a little time and encouragement to develop their skills.
A long time ago we had a young member (in his 20's) who said he worked as an engineer and that his brain only thought in numbers and formulas. He said he often wanted to contribute his thoughts to the discussions in the threads, but with the way he processed information, he didn't know how to translate his thoughts into words. I would have loved to have traded with him! Everything revolves so heavily around technology these days; I would love to be able to think in technical terms rather than just words.
But we all have our areas of strength and other areas that are more of a challenge for us.
If you feel you struggle with writing, keep sharing and practicing! Don't be discouraged -- we have many members here who might not choose writing as their primary means of communication, and some aren't even native English speakers, but we can all generally still be able to tell what they're trying to say, so please -- just keep right on trying.
