There are certainly some things you should never say, in your own best interest, even if they are very true, like criticizing a wife's cooking, and telling her she really does look fat in that dress.
That is a very stupid thing to do and an assurence she'll never put effort in it anymore.
We used to have aprons with:
Burned or not done?
Shut up and eat it!

In both instances, an opinion is stated on a relative situation and not necessarily a statement of truth. Some people can't handle the truth. However, I certainly agree that there may be some things that are best left unspoken.

I guess Dutch men complained too much. The Dutch cuisine is lousy and you have to eat it all, whatever it is, so now mostly the men cook here and the non complaining eat this:

Let's try the Dutch cuisine.

You'll never hear anyone from another country say: I love this food!
A war criminal from Croatia who was in a prison in Holland said our food was inhumane torture.

You will never hear me turn down a unique cookbook!

A wonderful friend of mine who knows I collect cookbooks gave me one as a gift. It was published in Great Britain. This particular book had page after page of bland looking foods, most which were taupe or beige in color and looked very unappetizing. And many of the recipes called for ingredients I've never even heard of! (And why does almost every food in England have cloves in it?? ewww!!) :p

Anyhow, I did find a hummus recipe in the book but I had to modify it. It turned out delicious. I may try a few of the dessert recipes as soon as I figure out what the heck dark muscovado, black treacle and caster sugar are...

Pardon my contention, but oliebollen, dubbel zout and 'dutch' chocolate are all quite palatable. As is Heineken. :)

i know, snacks and drinks don't quite qualify as 'cuisine' but I'm just trying to cheer you up m8!

is/are Bitterballen Dutch? I had it somewhere traveling through northern Europe and I loved it!
(I'm staying away from the french fires with mayo though)

"Here. Please, take all my money! I want you to have it."

"It's cool. Really, you don't have to pay me. I just work here because I like the people and think it's fun."

"I want to go with your idea/do it your way/only consider you, because I really don't want to be selfish anymore."

"I found my soul mate, but she doesn't like me." ^_~

You will never hear a man say" Im lost . Im going to pull over and ask for directions..."
Hmm... I will ask for directions. Before I start a trip I make very certain I know where I'm going, but I have needed directions before.

And since the topic of chocolate comes up, dutch chocolate is awesome. Dutch, swiss, mexican, german chocolate, they all taste different and they are all great. However there are a few chocolate bars from other countries that are not good. Carlos V, I'm looking at you.

"Man, this milk chocolate is the best chocolate I've ever tried!" Nope, you'll never hear me say that.
