if you going all out for the western look, why not wear chaps, shirt, scarf and cowboy hat as well.
Would say a good portion of us will wear western shirts and hats. Especially when ya want to take your wife or sweetheart out to do some 2 steppin 3 steppin or a waltz, just looking to spin her around the dance floor. Chaps are not really needed unless you ride range and work with and around livestock. Forget the Spanish word that chaps comes from but means leather pants.

Made of leather to protect your legs out here in the west we have a lot of open range but there are always things like cactus, scrub brush, rock formations, and host of other things your legs could be rubbed by or even puncture your leg. So chaps served as a way to protect our legs from nature. Not to mention when you are riding like up in the mountains is nice to have chaps so when that tree limb that can serve as a switch comes flying back it don't hurt as much when it hits your chaps hurts a little more when it snaps back and hits your legs protected alone by your jeans.

Since they are leather they are handy for keeping your legs dry when the sky opens up decides to down pour on you. A slicker a waterproof duster along with some chaps keeps you dry when it is raining. Which if you are miles and hours away from home or shelter then having clothing that will keep ya dry as possible is always nice. Also come in handy when riding in a pen cause the horse might brush ya up against the metal pen walls which will also have bolts and such sticking out.

Bandannas or kerchiefs are handy when riding cause out here in the west we are semi arid so it gets hot and gets dusty. So can use one to wet and keep the back of your neck cool cause like where I am in Colorado the higher altitude means the sun can just bake you. So unless you are out and about in nature really is no need for chaps and kerchiefs.

Although a kerchief does come in handy when cleaning up after livestock cause it covering your nose can be nice to spare ya the smell..........LOL So really no need to wear those thigs unless actually out riding range or in rough terrain riding or working to protect yourself from nature and the elements and other dangers. So that stuff is good for protective clothing but not needed so much if you are just out and about shopping or hanging with friends.

oh ok
but who really shops these days?
you can order things online
so you dont need to go out - and if you do, why not wear track pants or leggings that are more comfortable. Some people wear pjs. Ive seen it.

Also friends shouldnt care what you wear...they'll accept you in whatever clothes you got on...not judge you for what you have or dont have. Maybe friends even give you clothes. But I dont think friends ought to insist you wear the exact same thing they do. (this is jeans culture...you have to wear the exact same item, even when its uncomfortable?! )

apparently baggy jeans came about because of prison culture where in prison nobody is allowed to wear belts.
the ripped jeans was out of grunge and punk culture and people just imitated it.
I dont think people can really tell the diff between a pair of ripped jeans that someone chucked out in garbage and one you buy new thats $200 ...looks the same!

also in Japan, some Japanese are so enamoured of jeans and t shirts they become collectors items. They will scour vintage flea markets for jeans made 100 years ago.

Brooke Shields used her body to sell Calvin Klein jeans and then made her own line of jeans called 'Brookes'

in nz, there was a jeans brand called 'Jags'.
the indigo dye used is now synthetically produced by chemicals in Germany. Leading to collapse of indigo growers.

most jeans are now made in countries where the labour is cheaper.

...just some useless information I learned about jeans!

Probably the key here is, wear what you feel comfortable wearing.
I dont think its right for me to comment on what a man chooses to wear if he likes wearing a certain item of clothing then he will wear it. Im not his dresser.
I think the same goes for women we are not really dolls to dress up once we are able to dress ourselves. But a lot of women dont seem to have that agency, or the ability to say 'Im going to wear what fits me and what I like to wear' rather than what other people think a woman should wear. (or what a man thinks a woman ought to wear)

I guess its well meaning, but unless another person is paying for the outfit, giving you the clothes off their back or its actually a uniform, one size is NOT going to fit all.

Theres so many wardrobe malfunctions that women need to put up with, especially since our bodies dont always stay the same size, unlike mens. So the whole 'lets wear each others clothes as if we are twins' is not going to work. I mean some people think its ok to share each others toothbrushes but Im really not that kind of person.

Just to add...in scripture, God tells us not to worry about what we wear. The body is more than clothes.

I never really worried on that score as I always had clothes to wear...its just the anxiety over clothes that other people have that is projected on to others that is kind of weird. The whole pink shirt thing I mean what is that. was it the colour was too 'girly' for a boy to wear? Since when did colour come to mean a gender.
girls who wear blue arent seen as too boyish.

apparently in North Korea jeans are decadent western clothing

but now they made in China (which is not considered 'west' even though its actually west of Korea) so, they cant be can they?

I havent lived in North Korea, but surely they cant all afford to dress all the same. They just have to have the same haircut as their leader apparently.

when I used to work for a photo library that also did paparazzi shots, they would ask their workers if they knew at a glance what fashion or label someone was wearing so they could keyword it into their photos.
also, seemed like a faux pas for a woman to dress in exactly the same dress as someone else was wearing on the red carpet. But its totally ok for a man to wear exactly the same outfit as another man. they are not allowed to express their indivuality (pink shirt bullying ) so, men might as well just live in North Korea? Heaven know what would happen if a woman actually ruled that nation. Would they then make rules about what you could or could not wear?

anyway what some magazines would do is take photos, line all the women up side by side (like mug shot profiles, but just more glamourous) and give them ratings out of ten like a beauty pageant. I dont know why they did this. Nothing about the movie or whatver they appeared in, it was how good the dress looked on the wearer. but the woman/model could actually have been anyone, what got the bucks was the dress designer.

other magazines would have photos of women wearing random outfits and putting them in two columns. Do and Dont do.

shame and humiliation for you if you were rated 2 out of 10 or in the dont column!

I wear my pj's out in public everyday but then I also sleep in my jeans every night.....LOL Sometimes I think I take the motto it is better to be prepared and not need something, than to need something and not be prepared, to a far extent.....LOL

Started when I was a child of 5 years. Our house had caught on fire in a back room and spread while we were sleeping. When my ma had awoke there was just enough time for all of us to get out of bed and run outside. Standing there in just my underwear and nothing on made me feel so vulnerable and just helpless. So as a kid just started sleeping in my jeans and a shirt and socks on, so all I would have to do is just grab my shoes. Just never wanted to feel so vulnerable and naked and helpless ever again.

When I was married and it would come out that I sleep in my jeans to female friends of my ex they would go wide eyed and not ask but have the look of the question on their face. She would answer he does take them off for getting frisky but puts them back on immediately after. Yes, so romantic so back off girls and stay away cause this one is mine and I will fight you.............LOL

We had a guy at a church I used to attend that bought womens jeans from an op shop and wore them all the time. They were denim but had a leather appearance. They had a tight fit and him being very slim just looked bad. Really bad. I think he was totally unaware that they were womens jeans, or maybe he was I dont know.

slim tight jeans dont look good on most people IMHO
I dont know how the op shop people can actually tell which jeans are womens and which are mens if they got no label when they sorting on those racks

I just wouldnt buy pants from an op shop. Dresses ok but pants.... no. Especially tight ones. You dont know if people wore underwear with them or not. And you cant tell with jeans if they are new, they would most likely all be old and worn in op shops.

If more men wore lavalavas they would be a lot more comfortable IMHO

Did anyone think to mention to him?

What is a lavalava? Sounds volcanic?
I think a fancy name for a skirt or kilt.

In my culture we wear these types of materials which just wraps around the lower part of your body. Similar to kilts but comfier lol our men wear these and can be used as dress attire at church as well.

I dont know whether anybody did. I didnt think it was appropriate for me to, plus I found him creepy.
I know what you mean. Sometimes, creepy people do creepy things on purpose. Just to get you to engage them - then they strike.

yeah this particular man liked women and would often not respect personal boundaries and stand practically on your feet. We all kind of took off lol.
