you know, I think tattoos are pretty awesome, I am only seventeen, I want to get one when I'm older and I especially like tribal tattoos, when I will take one? I think when I get into the army and had my first deployment, but I also could be before that. by the way God made me like tattoos, the reason why it is said that you shouldn't take inscriptions on your body in the bible, is because people used them with dark powers. And it was a sign you were a priest from an ungodly idle...

yep - both ungodly
-firsty were u born with holes in ur ears and illistrations on ur body?
-no
-y?
-God obviously didnt want them there - if he wanted them there, their firstly would be a good example in the bible, and secondally he would have amde u born with them.

Your body is not you own

you dont own ur body

has God himself given you permishion to graffiet ur body or punch holes in it?
-no

therefore ungodly:)
I disagree, If someone has a God related tattoo, that could be a chance to minister to people. People would ask what your tattoos mean and then you can educate them on Your beliefs. I have a tattoo and that's exactly what i do. But I'm just stating my opinion. :)

"You shall not make any gashes in your flesh for the dead or tattoo any marks upon you" - Leviticus 19:28
In this passage God is speaking to his covenant people Israel. He is specifically telling them to stay far from the religious practices of the surrounding people groups. The prohibited religious practices in these verses include eating bloody meat, fortune telling, certain hair cuts related to the priests of false cults, cutting or marking the body for dead relatives, cultic prostitution and consulting psychics. All these practices would lead God

I think some piercings and tattoos look good on other people but tattoos should be well-drawn and be purposeful. Personally, I wouldn't get either because I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to physical pain and I don't think they'd suite me.

I have my ears pierced (one on each side) and one tattoo on my ankle. It's my twin's middle name (Faith) and she has mine (Joy). It's special to us, and I have never regretted it. Actually I usually forget it's there.

I'm a bit...iffy on tattoos though, even though I have one. I think it depends what you get and where you get it. I've seen young Christian girls get a Bible verse reference on their upper side (on the rib area), and so when they show people they basically have to lift their shirts up to their bra to show it. I don't think that's a very good witness.

I'v got 2 piercings on each ear. I think that piercings and tattoos are not really Godly because afterall our body is a temple of the most high God and i wouldnt wana vandalise it in any way. but then again, God doesnt look at whats on the outside but is more concerned about what is on the inside (our hearts). :)
Sorry, but that's totally hypocritical. Either they're wrong, and you should have none at all, or they're ok. Its not really valid to say 'piercings are wrong, except in your ears'. A piercing is a piercing, regardless of where it is. If you think its 'vandalism' in one spot, it should be 'vandalism' in all spots.

Nothing wrong with piercings but not sure about tattoos. It doesn't say anything in the Bible that what I know of tattoos being a sin but I personally wouldn't get them just because of the fact when you get older the tattoos start sagging with your wrinkles and look ugly. I currently have 2 ear lobe piercings on each ear and want to get a cartilage piercing on one of my ears on my birthday which is a few days away :) and MAYBE when I'm an adult a small stud nose piercing but I'm still deciding on that. :p

Piercings are not Godly? If you take a look at the book of Ezekiel, chapter 16, God is talking about Israel and it states... "I adorned you with jewelry: I put bracelets on your arms and a necklace around your neck, and I put a ring on your nose, earrings on your ears and a beautiful crown on your head."

Sounds pretty Godly to me.

We interrupt this broadcast for an important announcement ..

Christ was "pierced" for our transgressions .. Guess what ? Under the blood your Just fine!

Now- ask yourself .. WHO do I listen to here? God or
Man?

God Says
"WHO" is judging you? and "WHO" do you believe ?
you are "MY" child , and in "Me" you are approved!!

Man says - you are blemished and not approved

God is "not a man" that He should lie ..

Your signed off on , bought with a price, and stamped with His approval.
He said it , now believe it .

You are signed , sealed and will be delivered directly to Him..
Not any man..

It is written - IT IS FINISHED !

You know my grandfather now past was a great man, but he divided opinion amongst those who knew him right to the grave, one of his favourite sayings was:-

I am not always right, but I am never wrong

I always took it for good humour but there are some people who practice that view, and I was one of them when I was a teenager, were never as mature as we think we are, you girls need to step back and consider how this pointless bickering reads to everyone else, it's not what they expect to find when they come here, and not something they'll come back for, it ruins it for everyone.
If I didn't read this, I would have enter into the bickering myself XD

I'd like to point out that some people argue that Jesus might have had a tattoo. ( don't question or argue with me about it, I don't know all the facts, I've just heard about it) but I have a tattoo :) it's on my wrist and is says VICTORY. It means "victory through Christ". I think tattoos are fine as long as they mean something. I don't think God is going to reject you or anything for them, because I know for a fact that god still loves me:) I had 4 piercings: tongue ring, smiley, and two on the top of my ear. I took three out because there were uncomfortable and I now only have one on my ear :) but same thing goes : yes, I damaged gods temple, yet he's not going to hate me for it:) so as long as there's grace, we're safe ;)

I understand that you are a very conservative person about those things Kathleen, but this is supposed tobe a loving sit. Please dont contradict your signature of 'my words are said in love' by calling some one an alien. Simply say that glasses are used as well as contacrs. If you have your signature what it is, stick to it and only say things out of love.

I personally don't think piercings are a sin, as in some cases its part of culture and tradition, however regarding tattoo's I was always told by my parents that it is "The mark of the Devil" (not saying you're devilish for having one of course) and that it's wrong as a Christian to have one, but tattoo's and marking of the body can also be part of culture and tradition.
I wouldn't get one because I get one because I know I would hate it on my skin.
But anyway I think it's a matter of choice really, God gave us free will, the choice to follow his teachings or to reject them, so it's completely up to people what they do.

"You shall not make any gashes in your flesh for the dead or tattoo any marks upon you" - Leviticus 19:28

"You are the children of the Lord your God: you are not to make cuts on your bodies or take off the hair on your brows in honour of the dead" deuteronomy 14:17

For the people who thinks that the first book is only for the Jewish it says in the second book "For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." Mattew 5:18

I am free to do all things; but not all things are wise. I am free to do all things; but I will not let myself come under the power of any. 1 Cointhians 6:12

Or are you not conscious that your body is a house for the Holy Spirit which is in you, and which has been given to you by God? and you are not the owners of yourselves; For a payment has been made for you: let God be honoured in your body.1 Corinthians 6:19,20

By the age of 18 i wanted to do a piercing and a tatoo and The Holy Spirit clearly told me that it was ungodly . i woud recomend everybody who want to live in god's Will to pray and ask him before doing this step. By the way there are alot of people who have been delivered from bad spirit beacause of theirs tattoo. There is definitety some spirituals issues behind percing & tattoo

Did you read the next verse after the verses you quote? That is sad on your part.
