This is one of many controversial threads I intend to post here. Not with the intent of stirring peoples feelings, but simply for the fact that I want answers. I make this post for the argument that I don't believe masturbation is such a terrible thing. I have prayed for a great many of you in the "Prayer Request" section of this site and it saddens when I see the ones about such tremendous guilt for masturbation and "impure" (I would say natural) thoughts. It's as though you're punishing yourself for being human. You and I will never be perfect people who live outside of sin. We will always sin as it is in our nature to do so. What we CAN do is be repentant for it and seek to improve ourselves as people and in the eyes of God. Still, I wager that masturbation is low on the list in terms of committing wrongful deeds in the eyes of the Lord. Let me say that first, in a culture where sex is everywhere and the pressure not only from our own natural urges but from everything around us is so powerful, I would vote that masturbation is the far lesser of the two evils when compared to having casual sex which, lets be honest, is rampant. Strong enough to engage in neither? Good on you! Most of us aren't and I believe that is okay. I've read a lot about this issue through the eyes of both Christians and non-Christians. The discussion on the Christian end is mostly of the "morality" of doing it. Let's say that someone masturbates without any pornographic material, to the thought of his or her spouse who is away. In this way, not only do I believe they are morally upstanding, but indeed, I believe there is no sin being committed here. Now, things do change when these thoughts are of those whom the person is not married. For example, is single and chooses to masturbate, the person in his or her thoughts is not their spouse. a sin? maybe. add to that pornography and it would seem that we are approaching a deeper gray line. HOWEVER, comparable to severe sin such as murder? nowhere near. Sin is not so linear in my belief of it. There is no comparing murder to masturbation, just as there is no comparing rape to white lies. Some things we are hardwired to do from birth; touch ourselves, be seen favorably (white lies if necessary). some things we are not; rape and murder. Enough about my own thoughts on this, I'd like to hear from others. Not necessarily from those who will immediately dismiss this argument based on it's thesis but from those who are critical thinkers and are willing to express their own personal thoughts on the subject.

I say justifying sin instead of asking the Holy Spirit who was given to lead us into all truth, is dangerous. To each his own.

It's not my intention to justify sin, sin is what it is. I wish that I could ask the Holy Spirit, but because I can not I am simply offering a discussion for whether or not the thing we are discussing is in fact sinful or is perhaps separately of morality? or both? perhaps neither. This is why I made this discussion. I also reposted it in the bible discussion forum because I felt it would be more appropriate there than here. My apologies for a duplicate post, I would delete it here if I could.

Simply because this was a major focus of the therapy work I facilitated for almost a quarter of a century, I have to say that you do need to broaden your scope of knowledge on this subject. I hope this thread helps you do that.

Looking at a woman (anyone) with lust is a sin.

Matthew 5:28
New Living Translation
But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Can you masturbate without doing that?

Why is this in the conspiracy forum?

Is masturbation really a conspiracy?

The definition of conspiracy is a nefarious act involving multiple people and .... ummmm... just exactly how many people are usually involved when....

Just never mind.

Forget I was ever here.

ILLUMINATI!!!!!

Is feeding us with the lie that masturbation is not a sin.

No. Seriously, I don't believe it is the Illuminati, but I do believe the Devil is using sexual lust and masturbation to lead us astray from the road we are meant to walk, though. And for many of us, it is hard to restrain from it. But the reward for doing so is so much greater. Masturbation inside marriage, I guess it's OK, as long as you think of your spouse. Not sure, though.

Greetings Zachary24,

I'll make this simple to understand: The only acceptable fulfillment of a man or woman's sexual desires is between a husband and wife. Anything outside of that, men with men, women with women, a married man with a woman who is the wife of someone else and vise versa, a single man or woman having casual sex, self pleasuring, pornography, etc., etc. will keep an individual out of the kingdom of God.

It sounds to me that you are looking for someone to give you the green light on this. The truth is that, if you have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, you would be convicted of this and you would not need to ask this question. For you yourself would know the answer to your spirit from the Holy Spirit.

Sexual frustration is the root cause of rape. Arousal is natural and a biological function. Denying your nature is the greatest medical scourge. Frustration causes frustrating thoughts, that lead to distructive behaviour. So the choice is clear. Sexual release or forced sex on a unwilling participant being raped.

This all stems from the miss direction on the word: fornicate. Sounds like fawn I cate. Locating with the young. The abuse of children. Now a big social issue and practiced on Gods alter as religious sex practice from ancient days. Mary, mother of Jesus back then and a known case in NY in 1973. She was 11.

So you choose. Jesus died for our sin. A statement of Church. He died so we may live. Another statement. So surely there is no sin. Only the law. If it ain't in the law, you maintain your right to social freedoms. The sheep follow as the leaders rob them blind. Pastors predict the end of the world and sheep hand over their possessions and on the given day the sun shines brightly on the same land. But to those gullible sheep IT is there make or break day. The choice to start again or shoot themselves as the disappointment is so unbearable.
Many a stock trader jumps at the time of a market crash. No, said Jesus: I came so you might live and live it to the full, But within the law. He said: I did not come to change the Law but to add to it. Love.

So how much Love is in the man that rapes. How much Love is there who does not rape.
Christian folk, don't pay their accounts and the trader closes shop, but that's ok????
Christian folk rat on their colleagues and claim they prayed about it. And that's Ok???
Christian folk cause motor accidents thru drink driving offences that kill or maim But that's OK????

O my goodness, let no man find release in private, o no. How terrible is that!!

O Jesus said what you do in secret will be rewarded. Funny how this statement is never explored. Child abuse is mostly done in secret, Not So???

Uhhh...yes, of course.

The person doing it just has to be a man.

Good, be disgusted. At 15 you not ready for the adult tree. The adult tree is when you realise the leaves at the top show the bottom ones how to fall and become compost, so new life may grow in it and the birds may feed once more.

When you argue Life. Remember, Without Life, you'd not be here to climb trees! When the dung stops falling from the top, change may happen round the bottom.
