I would prefer to simply defend myself against these accusations.

But I've found that sometimes when I'm defending myself....

it turns out I'm on the wrong side.
LOL
I have a problem many times. I think I am saying one thing but those listening get something else.

All I know is, every year about this time I rejoice to find egg nog once again in the store refrigerator! Melted ice cream in a cup! This morning for breakfast I took a banana, oats and egg nog and blended it up for a delicious breakfast smoothie.

As for the modern concept of a fat guy in a red suit who goes around the whole world giving presents, my parents never told me that was true. I knew my parents got those presents. And if I ever had a kid I wouldn't want the credit for my presents to go to some myth. I worked hard for the money, I picked out a present I thought they would like, I want them to know that present came from ME because I love them.

Hoist a cup to Christmas, the most delicious time of year!

sometimes obvious questions are so absurd -

Jesus will always speak directly to those whom belong to Him
and His ways...

If it were important to celebrate Christ's birth, it would have been recorded in the Bible. Since it's not, it's not.

Personally, I don't like celebrating a lie.

Christ's birth isn't recorded in the Bible?
What version are you reading?

[h=1]Luke 2:11[/h]
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”

Allow me to clarify since I didn't make it clear enough for you.

If it were important to celebrate Christ's birth DAY, the day would have been recorded in the Bible. Since it's not, it's not.

Christmas comes way too early.
Teaching the kids to believe in Santa Claus is good for behavior modification and psychological warfare. When they act up, just pull out the phone and tell them your calling Santa.
My dad pulled that on me one year. I probably was naughty. I behaved myself for a couple days after that.

I'm drinking a glass of egg nog right now. It's the most wonderful time of the year.

Oh okay, because the specific date wasn't recorded.
So then you probably don't observe any holidays, because as far
as I know, the Bible doesn't give any dates, only approximations.
Are you Jehovah's Witness or just stubborn?

All I need them to do is behave until they get back to mommy.

those of the 'world' will celebrate 'the ways of the world', no matter what
the Bible teaches us that we are Commanded to Keep Holy'...

for so many, even if they have the 'cold-hard-facts' staring themright in the face,
they will continue to pretend and 'keep to their own, inherited ways that satisfy
their lusts', and bring shame upon their own faces...

the glint of The True Light will get through to an Elect few, whom truly want
to please God', more than mankind and his ways...

The time of year is recorded.

Luke 2

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Shepherd's only did that for a specific time of the year. The contraversy is over the specific time. Best guess is starting near September. Thus December is reasonable.

I think it’s a great blessing that God has given us a time of the year to celebrate the
birth of Christ. The angels, shepherds and wise men certainly thought it was worth
celebrating.

As to the annual bickering that we don’t know what day Jesus was born, well we’ve picked
a day 25 December so what’s wrong with that.

I for one am glad to exchange presents, get together with family, attend carol services.
For the Christian it should be a time of rejoicing and remembering what God has done.
I realise for some it can also be a very sad time, but even in the sad times God is with us
and Christmas is also a reminder of that. It’s a celebration of God bringing spiritual peace
on Earth and showing His goodwill to all men.

I get that the secular stuff and over commercialisation is a bad thing but as Christians we
have choices about our attitudes and how we celebrate Christmas.

I think God is probably unhappy with the over commercialisation but I think for the Christian,
He is glad and celebrating with us and rejoicing with us that we recognise the birth of the
saviour of the world.

Christimas is also a constant reminder that God is real, a kick in the teeth for athiests, they
will never be able to do away with Christmas. Christmas is yet another witness to
those who say there is no God. No one will have any excuse for saying they did not know
when they meet Him face to face.

Another aspect is that people have short memories, it’s why all these feasts and festivals
were appointed in the OT.

Christmas is a NT modern festival, another way of remembering for those who celebrate
it in the way it was intended, and a constant reminder and evidence for those who don’t.

If ever there was a time in history when we need reminding of the abiding presence
and reality of God, it’s now.

Well day aside it's important to celebrate his "birth",showing our appreciation for God walking in the flesh for our sakes!

I'll give my independent view and say, I love Christmas, I love the spectacle of it all (although it seems to be waning every year) and I love all the lights and stuff. Sorry but I do, I love giving and receiving presents, it's just a good time. I do however know the real meaning of Christmas, and why Christians celebrate it. Yeah he Jesus wasn't born in December, but does it matter?

Christmas is Christmas, just enjoy it. It's not going to go away, no matter if you try to boycott it. Everyone likes an excuse for another holiday or time off work anyway.
