the 12 Apostles practiced socialism. all the money was collected, put into a general fund and distributed to those that needed it. this was the same way the Qumran community was ran and most likely the Nazarene community.
the general idea of socialism is to keep the rich from taking everyting. if you have free markets with no rules they will take it all. capitalism will never benefit a working man, most working men want to make a living and take care of their family, there are only a few out there that care about money and nothing but money and those are the ones that benefit from the system. its a system of greed. a factory manager making 150k a year, its a good salary, but is not going to benefit. those that own the factory benefit, with capitalism they can cram 500 employees in a building built for 50, if a worker loses his hands in a machine they can fire and replace him and owe him nothing, he may have a wife and five kids depending on him. you can work employees with no breaks, hire thugs to crack heads when the workers talk to much, refuse to hire if you donty like their religion, refuse to hire unless you agree to let employeer inspect your home and personal lifestyle, etc etc.
this is free market capitalism. dont believe me, read about how factories were ran 100 - 150 years back.
Kind of the way China and North Korea are run today, this is not a matter of market system it's about power and authority. When too much authority is in the hands of too few people they always abuse human rights. That has been played out throughout history. The human rights issues that plagued early industrial America was not so much about free markets as it was cronyism, and corruption at local and state levels. It was more like socialism. With corporations providing the housing, and even their own currency that was only usable at company owned stores. Trust busting was about breaking up the centralization of those powers ending monopolies and returning the free market idea.

Yeah... the socialist utopia lasted a whole couple of Chapters!! Then the human nature thing kicked in, and we had situations like Ananias and Sapphira holding back cash for themselves.
And on a larger scale, let's see how humans, even Holy Spirit filled humans, fairly distributed wealth:

Act 6:1 Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists,[a]because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.

Until Jesus returns, the only remotely viable option for a society to prosper is capitalism, governed by our Constitution.

Another example of how capitalism infects our society. Today in the US we have more people incarcerated (per capita) than any other country on the planet. Where is all this crime? Well it wasnt always like this. Many years back our jails were ran and owned by the state, funded by tax dollars. Today half our jails are owned by private corporations. Private corporations send their people to washington to thow lots of money at politicians to pass laws for more jailible offenses and longer jail terms. Thats a bit scary. But its true.
Govco contracts... Still not free market. You can't build a prison and get paid to house prisoners. This is a corrupt example of govco cronyism, not a free market example.

I don’t think so.

The FDR era is long gone and, as you say, the Democratic Party is no longer a party for hard working folks.
Now, the Republican party is the one for the hard working folks.

The country is already socialistic in nature and the result is a tremendous national debt that is growing larger each day. If this is not seriously addressed the US economy will eventually collapse, sooner rather than later. It is almost too late now with little hope for effective positive change. In a totally socialist country there is no such thing as individual accomplishment, no merit system, only entitlements for those who meet certain criteria that are paid for by the few workers left who got stuck with the bill. The flaw in the system is that if everyone is special then really no one is special because being unique would be an obsolete trait.

Hi, There is much bad publicity re socialism by guess who the rich capitalists. This goes way back to the Vatican who decided not to practice socialism bc of the $$. Certainly socialism has it's own issues and I'm not taking sides. Prob nobody here likes Bernie Sanders but he would have won if Hillry would have backed out and no fixing the elections. . His ideas are super popular and he had enormous crowds. Some European countries are doing it right and have the best lifestyles. Personally, I'd love to pay more taxes and have free Healthcare, ed, good SSA and etc. What gripes me is the one-sided info we get w/o a fair look into this. Well, no worries, the powers that b will NEVER allow socialism HERE (US). BTW not either party and not here to fight just give diff view. God's in charge no matter what and thank God he's holding back the full force of the 'lawless one' with the Restrainer on board, 2 Thes 2:6,7.
I would love to pay less taxes and not more. Health care is not free if you are taxed an exorbitant amount to pay for it, even then there is rationing and a long waiting list, with certain procedures or treatment not covered.
