Let me start off by saying, that I am a very good friend of someone who is the mom to a little boy, who loves do to ballet, he loves to play barbie, he loves to put pink bows in his hair. This little boy was sexually abused so badly when he was a bady and was used as a sex toy by many many men.
As young as what he is, has he made a choice to be this way? Whas it originally in his DNA designed by God who makes no mistakes? Does our past determine our ability to make decision in the future or how those decisions are formulated on our past experiences?
When a man who goes out abusing women because his mom abused him as a child, does this mean he was born this way? Created by God who makes no mistakes? Or did his past experiences determine his future ability to make rationa, moral,l decisions?
I by no means of the imagination believe that if someone is gay they are any less of a person that I am, I do not believe that the Lord God loves me more or less that ANYONE else. Of course I am sure that there will be someone who will think that I am comparing an abusive man's past into the same category as a gay man's past, and how is this the same thing, as people do not CHOOSE to be gay. I think people do not CHOOSE to be abusers either.
I do believe that being gay or an abuser is NEVER a choice, I do however think that our past has some impact on our ability to make decision in the future, and sometimes our past is so deep rooted we do not even know it is there.
I too am the mom to a girl who thinks she might like girls, then thought she might like boys and girls, do I love my little girl, absolutely, do I totally accept her for who she is DEFINITLEY, was her decisions formulated on an abusive past YES, did we sit an explore why she has these formulated opinions about herself, we did.
I truly hope and pray that my heart reflects in this post.
