OK, so you are saying we CAN keep the Commandments with God's help? On this we agree...

Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Are you so dense that the verse didn't penetrate? ''With men this is impossible.''
Look up 1Cor15:10 as a reply to Phil 4:13

In order to receive the Holy Spirit we must first be keeping Gods 10 commandments. The 4th included. Thats what John 14{15-16} says. This truth is also found in verse {21}.
A complete contradiction of plain Scripture...
This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
(Gal 3:2-6)

A rhetorical question by Paul whose obvious answer is 'by hearing the Gospel' not 'works of the law'.
Your above thesis is completely erroneous and gives me a clue when it comes to receiving the Spirit...you dont have a clue.

James 2:19 (KJV)
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Hmmm....so you don't believe the devils will be cast into the fire
The devils do not have saving faith because there was no Gospel promise given to them.
There was no Gospel promise given to them because the Son did not take on an angelic nature to redeem the fallen angels. This is why believing only 'God is one' will not save the devils or mankind. One must believe that Christ's death on Calvary was for their sins. The devils have not this personal faith.

Let us go back to the OP...

Galatians 3:10-12 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

The Galatian letter was written to Christians. These Christians were in danger of adding works of the law to what they already had...the Gospel msg. and the Holy Spirit in order to continue in a right standing before God. Throughout the letter Paul exposes this faulty approach of the Judaizers.

There are other ways of 'keeping the commands of Christ' than to stare at 10 or 600+ commands on paper and then going off with one's self will or dragging the Holy Spirit alongside as a bellhop helper.
The other is called fruit of the Spirit which is a work God does within the believer as we abide in HIM. It is described here...

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
(Gal 5:22-25)

Of course the law of God (His Character) is written on our hearts. If it was not for the abiding old nature we would perfectly reflect God's character, but 'til that Day there is a battle where...

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
(Gal 5:17)

But to try and continually live in one's own power even 'using' the Holy Spirit to 'win' your battles to do the law will end up in defeat and despair with the results the 'works of the flesh' which are these...
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
(Gal 5:19-21)

Those here preaching the law (such as Wall and john832) are only opposing themselves through their fornication with Hagar/works of the law.

Such will also receive stricter judgement for the error they teach.
James 3:1
let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.

And note the example James 3 uses of error teaching that deserves stricter judgement.
James 3:6-11
the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.......

It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless (love) our God and Father, and with it we curse (judge/condemn under the law) men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing (love/grace) and cursing (judgment/condemnation under the law). My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water (love/grace) and bitter (judgement/condemnation under the law) from the same opening?

We simply cannot mix grace and works of the law, as some here do.
Rom 11:6
if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

Those here preaching the law through their lukewarm doctrine that mixes grace with works of the law, will find that God will reject them if they do not repent, Rev 3:15-19.

God asks in James 3:11.
Does a spring send forth fresh water
(love/grace) and bitter (judgement/condemnation under the law) from the same opening?

Those here who have been preaching the law, thus saying "yes" to God's question in James 3:11, only oppose themselves in doing so.

That may be true but also we are expected to grow in grace and knowledge not stay still. Just as a child grows
2 Peter 3:18 KJV
(18) But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

A 15 year old should not be making the same mistakes as a 5 year old. In the same way as we grow in grace and knowledge we should not be making the same mistakes over and over.

That's the problem I have, If what you say is true.. Don't you think God knew all this before he even gave someone his gift of eternal life, and justified them??

even so, God chastens those who are his, Just like a father chastens his child. No true born again believer is going to still act like a 5 year old when he is 15. I was a prodigal son for only 5 years, and God brought me to rock bottom. there was no place to go but back to him, or take myself out.. God is not going to let a person stay stagnant, if they are his children.

I can see the 15 year old maybe act like a ten year old. but no growth whatsoever? I am not buying it.

Well EG we are not under the works of the law

HEBREWS 10 [1] For THE LAW HAVING A SHADOW of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.[2] For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.[3] But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.[4] FOR IT IS NOT POSSIBLE THAT THE BLOOD OF BULLS AND OF GOATS SHOULD TAKE AWAY SINS.

Theres the works of the law we are not under

HEBREWS 13 [9] Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be ESTABLISHED WITH GRACE; NOT WITH MEATS, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. [10] We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. [11] For THE BODIES OF THOSE BEASTS, WHOSE BLOOD is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. [12] WHEREFORE JESUS ALSO, THAT HE MIGHT SANCTIFY THE PEOPLE WITH HIS OWN BLOOD, suffered without the gate.

Again. Its grace alone....not by the blood of animals which were the works of the law.

Why?

JOHN 6 [53] Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. [54] Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. [55] For MY FLESH IS MEAT INDEED, and MY BLOOD IS DRINK INDEED.

What is the flesh and blood? Jesus told them, they did not get it. Many do not get it, do you?

... Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law... (Romans 7:7)

If you reject the knowledge of the law, then you are rejecting the knowledge of sin.

This is contrary to the knowledge sought in Psalm 139:23-24... Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

It is the same God from Genesis to Revelation and forever.

If you reject the letter of the law, then at least acknowledge value in the spirit of the law.

But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully - 1 Timothy 1:8

The law is good for showing people the standard of perfection (against which they come short although it is a righteous standard) and then calling them to repentance from sin and to faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

The law is not sin. Transgression of the law is sin.

Holiness ought to be encouraged rather than lawlessness and sin.

The discussion is not on how good or bad the law is. Or if we should follow Gods commands or not.. (Although some want to make it this)

The question is, can we gain eternal life with God by doing any part of the law.. Or can we lose salvation if we do not do parts of the law..

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:1-2)

Keeping the law doesn't save. Christ is the Savior. However, many are deceived with a false assurance of salvation. Many will say "Lord, lord" at the end and Jesus will say: "Depart from me". (Luke 13:25-27)

There is a spiritual walking to do if we have been touched by God to produce a miraculous change in our lives.

...That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit... (Romans 8:4)

Seven letters to the churches are recorded in Revelation 2-3. These are letters to professing Christians. In each letter, there are exhortations and warnings.

In the first letter to the church at Ephesus, there is the warning: repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Smyrna:
Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life

Pergamos:
Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight...

Thyatira: H
old fast till I come...

Sardis: ...
hold fast, and repent.

Philadelphia: ...
hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Laodicea:
be zealous therefore, and repent.

At the end of each of the seven letters to the seven churches, there is a promise for those who overcome (persevere). The implication is that not all in the churches will overcome.

Let us all be zealous therefore and repent.

True. Many do think they are saved. But I do not think Jesus was talking to licentious people who claimed faith but continued in sin, or did not obey. These people will know they are worthy because they did not do these things.

He is talking to people I believe, who are trying to use law and religious ceremony, and thinking this is what saved them, or kept them saved. These are the people who do all these works in the name of Christ, thinking they are pleasing him and God will forgive them because they did these things, And jesus will tell them the truth.

1. He never knew them, thery were never saved to begin with
2. There works accounted for nothing, because they were not written in the book of life.
3. They are just as guilty as the sinners they spent their christian life judging, Many of whome probably will be in heaven, because they trusted Christ not self.

This is the danger of trying to add law and religion to Grace,, Trying to please God not because you are gratefull for what he paid on the cross. But because in reality (even if they deny it) they thought this would make them right with God.

There is a spiritual walking to do if we have been touched by God to produce a miraculous change in our lives.
And Again, This is the point of contention.

those on one side said these things MUST be done to be saved.

Those on the other say these things WILL be done by those who are truly saved.

I think if we really look at it. Scripture supports the second one, Not the first. the first would fit with the legalistic religious crowd.

As I stated earlier. These letters are written to the churches, not induviduals in the churches. The church is a body, as a body, they are supposed to do what is right, and in doing so. be a light into the world. Each church will have mature people, babies and inbetween, they will also have impostors.. In the same token, it may be the other way around. Many wannabes, and only a few true believers.

Many churches have many different issues. Like these 7, which to be honest do not differ from denominations today. Many have the truth of the gospel. but suffer in other areas.. The NT speak to these areas, and try to help them, If they heed to the warnings, God will bless them, If not. God may remove their light (their ability to do the work of God.

To try to take these verses and make it mean induviduals. And say God removing their light means remove their individual salvation is taking these letters out of context. and destroys the meanings.

I have seen many churches strong and do many wonderful works, drawing people in. And God blessed them, then I have seen these same churches fall and God remove the light from them as many of the true believers left, leaving very little from God in them.. This is what revelations is talking about.

ISAIAH 24 [5] The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, CHANGED THE ORDINANCE, broken the everlasting covenant.[6] Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Anyways "Day of the Lord" scriptures are the bottom line. If a day of the Lord scripture says something it will come to pass. You can see why these people are burned. They transgressed the law. This being a day of the Lord scripture proves that Isaiah 24 is not for Israel alone. In the new testament the "laws contained in the ordinances" can be found. Go to the old and see what that means. Then look at what the sunday mournin churches did. They changed the ordinance. They claim the "laws contained in the ordinances" are the 10 commandments.

(Gal 5:19-21)
I have seen many people try this, Even those who have the true gospel. They end up crashing, and many burn because they realise they can;t do it. And try to hide it afraid they will be judged. So they hide it, what usually happens is either they get caught,, and judged to the point they leave, or they give up. figuring God must not love them.. when in reality God does love them, and wants them to confess and get help. Not under law, but under grace.

This is why Paul fought the law so hard. He Understood these things would happen. And made sure to let everyone know. As bad a sinner as he was, God could still use him.. No one is perfect, or will be perfect.. So what gives us the right to judge others? It is one thing to help a sinner who is struggling with major sin, it is another thing to condemn them.

lol.. You love to hard on some sin. why don't you look deep inside and take care of your own plank, instead of trying to judge the speck in someone elses life.

Can we lose salvation if we do not follow the law? NO! Because NO ONE CAN FOLLOW THE LAW. If we were saved while we were enemies of God, and major transgressors of the law. Why would God take it back because we did not follow it to every jot and tittle??
