My sister called me this morning, and the second thing (after "Hey") that she said was, "I'm so bored! Fix it!"
Maybe this is just a pet peeve of mine; bored/boring people. Maybe I'm just talented at occupying myself. Maybe these bored/boring people are just being lazy.
Whatever the case, I kind of snapped at her- this is not the first time she's done this. In fact, it's a nearly daily event. She calls me because she's bored. And I can't make any sense of it, because she's a mom of a five year old, she recently moved into a new place, she has an energetic dog, and she lives in town where there are numerous things to do.
Maybe this is so irritating to me because I see online all the time younger people talking about how bored they are.
And then the excuses! People give them ideas, and they argue that they can't do any of "that stuff" because of such-and-such a reason. With the exception of being physically unable to get up and do something, IS there any valid reason not to? All the time?
There is a certain level of laziness/boredom that I can tolerate patiently from others- and even less tolerance for myself and my family. I purposely don't surround myself with bored people. I would, in fact, say I discriminate against them to some degree.
Do constant complaints of boredom/lack of desire to GET UP and do something bother anyone else?
