KJV15John11: What's the funniest thing you ever posted, in your opinion? .
Wow, that is a tough one! So much of my posts are just off the cuff, whatever pops into my mind at the time. One thing that I have noticed is that the ones that I thought were the funniest usually get no likes. The ones that get the most likes are ones that I put no thought into what so ever. Go figure!

Jillyann:
As far as sharing the Gospel with others, you specifically asked about my background on that. My dad had always told me how horrid it was to not know Jesus (Whom I had met before I developed a shocking testimony, fortunately) and to be by yourself in this world. He had grown up in a denomination, but it had never been real to him (and considering how many of them got saved after my dad became a believer, I don't think it was real to most of them either). That was a lot of the reason, but honestly, I know myself that it's important. Partly because Jesus Himself said to share with others, but partly because if you truly love someone and have their best interests at heart, you want to share life-giving/saving information with them. I don't argue with people about Jesus (IMO; everyone has a different definition of that word, it seems), but I do want everyone to know that there is hope and that Someone loves them, even enough to die for them, and that there are wonderful eternal rewards for following the One Who showed this love :). After all, it's the least we can do for Him, paying it forward and all ... :).
HOw is that nic, jilly :)

OK, anyway, I will just say I heard you call yourself 'jillian' once, so...... my greens went to work :D

That's cool about your dad, it sounds like he became a Christian late in life. I'm not sure how true it is but if someone does not choose Jesus by age 18 they are a lot more set in their ways and the percent is in the low teens, like 13% for them EVER accepting Jesus :( I could be wrong on that, I heard that somewhere and it's always stuck. But, great, that's neat how your dad's inspired your walk with Jesus.

This is beautiful testimony for others to hear, jilly:

question for shobro : when I was reading there your color-coordinated music theory lines, I started to think. Poetry ! And, also: Writers Digest . I used to read this magazine monthly , it was always with good stories I thought but the editor, a lot of the time, spoke of poems and iambic pentameter and weak sounds and strong sounds and accents, etc. I was wondering if you ever use poetry at all in your teaching of music theory. It sounds like you teach kids now (mary had a little lamb) but used to teach adults at NMU ? So, anyway, my green brain got to thinking on that one. Good example by the way. :)

Really you would choose Army? Thats interesting, most ppl I talk to say they would have chosen the Air Force because of the more career options that transfer over to civilian world. Also the luxury. If I had to choose a career in the Air Force it would have been a cryptologic linguist instead of an F-15 avionics systems spec.

For me, I would have never gone in the Air Force, it changed me completely and for the worst sadly. I also would have never bought my truck (which I ended up selling) and bought a house. I wish I would have been wise with my money.

Question for Liamson- What did you do in the Navy?
I worked on Nuclear Missiles as a Missile Technician on a Ballistic Missile submarine, full of Missiles.

And

I was a Sonar Technician on a Destroyer where I tracked Whales and Dolphins all day on a green screen with funny looking lines.

:D

I would choose Army because that was my passion originally. I liked the Camaraderie and the physical nature of it. But my mom said no Army no Marines (Not that I EVER would have gone Marines) because I was 17 and I need her permission, so I went Navy cause they offered me the better College benefits.

Hellooo: What's your absolute favorite thing to play on piano, that you could play over and over and never get tired of?
The first and second movements of Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique.

First movement is so full of tragedy, extreme dynamic changes, hopping between between octaves, a lot of intricate runs, and various little bells and whistles that make it just incredibly dramatic and somber and everything I love in a classical song. It's fun to play.

The second movement (adagio cantabile, in a slow singing manner) is HEARTBREAKINGLY beautiful, and I love that it's also my father's favorite song in the world to hear me play.

movements 1-2 end at 13:35

A submarine! I bet you've got lotsa stories to share. I've been through the sub on display at the USS Alabama and was surprised and a little queasy to note how small it actually was. By the way Liamson, thinking about "men" on submarines reminds me of your post a while back about how men are always called "soldiers" or "miners" or anything other than MEN by the media. (I watched the clip and was astounded to find it true.) That post is what made me join this forum. I wanted to be part of such deep and honest conversations about life, society, and everything.

Hahahaaa... this made me laugh! I... have no idea what I would do in that situation. I should have a gameplan for that, shouldn't I? I feel so unprepared...

A fellow boomer, or as the jug heads called us, a bubble head. There are only two kinds of ships in the navy, submarines and targets. I did Nuke School in Orlando, FL, Sub School in Groton, CT, and then served on the SSBN Daniel Webster Gold. What about you?

Please allow me to ask. :)

What is the most important for you to have, your dream job but has less compensation/benefits or other job that will give you high compensation/benefits. Why?

thanks for sharing your opinion.
I have to love what I do because I do it a lot. It could never be about the money/benefits for me. :) Great question :)

Arwen - How's the Hyundai holding up now?
CatHerder - If you could only play one of these two for the rest of your life, which would it be? Mahler 7 or Till Eulenspiegel?
Catlynn - Is green chile stew the only thing you'd like to cook? It's really a set-it-and-forget-it meal; we can set that in the crock for dinner before lunchtime, and cook something completely different for lunch! What would you like?
DuchessAimee - Once you're done with school, you're done with Modesto, right? Where ya got a hankerin' for?
GraceLikeRain - I'mma ask your question in PM.
iTOREtheSKY - I'mma ask your question in PM.
Jilly81 - I don't think I know what you do. What do you DO? ^_^
Jullianna - If not a Mustang, then what? (No saying a 1st gen Mustang, because that's cheating.)
Liamson - Of ALL the places you could have gone to school...why...IDAHO?!
Loveneverfails - If a friend were to visit Alaska for the first time, and had three days, where would you take them, and what would you do?
MissCris - What's your husband's favorite thing to eat, and do you cook it?
Nautilus - Solo Top, Jungle, APC, ADC, or support? First and second choices.
NodMyHeadLikeYeah - If you had the ability to pick up and leave at anytime, would you, or would you prefer to stay in Virginia? If not, where to?
Rachelsedge - I know what it's like to feel like you're living in someone's shadow, especially if it's someone you love. You've talked about it before; is this still a struggle for you? Is it a daily fight to tell yourself that this is not the case, or are you done with it and past it now?
Tintin - Ever felt the urge to visit the US? If you had the means, would that be a priority for you?
Ugly - Do you feel like you were successful in nipping it in the bud? You think you're gonna handle this one better than the last time, since you went in quick?
xXErraticEmilyXx - If you could cosplay ANYONE, no limitations on budget or resources, who, and from what?
Zaoman32 - Feel free to ignore this if it's a sensitive topic...by nature or by choice (shaving)?
ZeroTurbulance - I know you have Phillipino heritage, but forgive my ignorance...do you live in the Phillipines, or in the US???

"Where ya got a hankerin'..." What the...darn you, Texas! This place is going to brainwash me if I'm not careful.
Sorry I missed your question first time around. :) I still have my Mustang, but I wanted something different this time, so I went with a BMW Z. Will email a pic. I posted one here, then thought better of it. :)

Tintin - If you could be an animal, what would you want to be and why?
I'm not sure. Maybe a lemur. I'd live in the rainforest and have a furry coat and the ability to swing through the trees with my hands, feet and tail.

Tintin - Ever felt the urge to visit the US? If you had the means, would that be a priority for you?
Not really. If ever I did visit the US, it would be to mainly to visit friends I've made online (from CC and other forums).

Tintin: If you were an evil villain, who would you be?
Good question. I'm not sure. As a child, I often role-played as the Emperor (from Star Wars) in the school playground. He has a nasty complexion but who doesn't want to zap others with the Dark side of the Force?

Tintin - Would you ever like to teach at a different level, such as secondary or university?
No, not really. I would greatly enjoy the mental stimulation and debating at such levels but I love and understand the kid mindset and the need to foster kid's imaginations, and retain my own as an adult. Also, hormonal teens and I don't mix. :)

* Tintin...Who is your favourite Doctor & why?
Good question. Out of the classics - Tom Baker. Wow, really? He was my first Doctor. I just loved his eccentric qualities, his dark and humourous sides and his super-cool scarf. He was a great actor - he was the Doctor. John Pertwee is my second favourite and he was my second Doctor. Out of the new series, I love David Tennant. But Matt Jones is also brilliant fun.

{clip of Beethoven's most overplayed/overhyped work}
If you're gonna start a Beethoven war, and you're gonna go symphonic, you're better off with the first movements of either 6 or 3, really, than you are with 5. (Bet you CatHerder will back me up on that one.) 9 is right out, unless you're talking about the last movement, but that's almost as overplayed as 5 is.

Only one example of 5 is acceptable for use in a Beethoven showdown, and that is this one:

xAlphaOmega, the original question I was going to ask you was "have you ever planted an apple tree?". I should've just gone with that one instead; my bad.
Nope, cant say I have. My question to you is have you?
