I WONDER WHY THIS VERSE IS IN THE OLD TESTEMENT IN A TIME OF LAW

[h=3]Habakkuk 2[/h]King James Version (KJV)

2 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
2 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

Because righteousness has always been by faith and the law was just an interim measure until Christ.

That is figurative language for worshiping GOD in spirit and truth.

John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth

[h=3]Exodus 31:12-17[/h][SUP]12 [/SUP]And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, [SUP]13 [/SUP]“Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. [SUP]14 [/SUP]You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. [SUP]17 [/SUP]It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’”

[h=3]Ezekiel 20:12-24[/h]Moreover, I gave them my Sabbaths, as a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them. But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not walk in my statutes but rejected my rules, by which, if a person does them, he shall live; and my Sabbaths they greatly profaned. “Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to make a full end of them. But I acted for the sake of my name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out. Moreover, I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land that I had given them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most glorious of all lands, because they rejected my rules and did not walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols.

[h=3]Isaiah 58:13-14[/h]“If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly; then you shall take delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Well that would need a new thread to get into that but here you go food for thought.
3 Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying: That would be the house of Judah and the House of Israel
[SUP]2 [/SUP]“You only have I known of all the families of the earth;
Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.”

[SUP]3 [/SUP]Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Will a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey?
Will a young lion cry out of his den, if he has caught nothing?
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Will a bird fall into a snare on the earth, where there is no trap for it?
Will a snare spring up from the earth, if it has caught nothing at all?
[SUP]6 [/SUP]If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid?
If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it?

[SUP]7 [/SUP]Surely the Lord God does nothing,
Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]A lion has roared!
Who will not fear?
The Lord God has spoken!
Who can but prophesy?

Reading from the context of Acts 15. The reason they have these commands were so that they may not offend the Jewish believers that followed the law. This was to remove the offense among them out of love, for religious, moral, and physical purity. These are not applied to everyone. Back then, before a they were saved they were pagans. Morally we should be upright though!

So this wasn't legalistic, this was love so that they won't offend. Paul told us, live by love and live by the Holy Spirit (Gal 5:13-16).

My friend is a seventh day adventist, he follows the Torah. If I am around him, I should not try to offend him. If I visit his church, I should respect his practice. Not under the law of Moses, but under the law of Christ I would respect him.

Thessalonians actually takes it further, showing that it wasn't given to appease anyone. Paul didn't compromise.

1 Thessalonians 4:1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
1 Thessalonians 4:2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
1 Thessalonians 4:4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

Acts 15:28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

Act 15:19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
Act 15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
Act 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day .

Thank you for your post and sharing from the Word.

I have been a Christian for many years and I observe Sunday as my day of rest and of worship. The Holy Spirit has blessed my life in many ways during my walk with Him. The presence of the Holy Spirit in my life is confirmation enough for me. If He were displeased then I doubt that He would pour out His Holy Spirit upon me.

Wouldn't you agree?

Blessings

Forgive me Briancampbell, I responded to the wrong message. My response was meant for this post. My apologies.

so you attend synagogue:confused:

WLTX, the gentiles were not being instructed to go to the synagogues to hear Moses read.
James was sending a letter to instruct the gentiles what they should pay heed to in order not offend the jews; to be pleasing to God concerning those things; and in order that they would not be swayed by judaizers insisting they live under the Law of Moses.

he is saying the jews know about those things already where ever Moses is read.

the Temple and sacrifices and Old Covenant traditions and ceremonies were still underway during this transitional time.

a few years from that writing it would all be gone.

The law is not "just an interim measure". It is the word of God. We are not saved by it, it is through the blood of Christ we are saved. When we say that, we are NOT saying that the law is nothing but an interim measure. You must read scripture!

Do you know what faith is? Abraham showed us what faith is. The Hebrew language shows us what faith is. It is having such absolute trust in the word of God that you can act on that word. When you say that you may not act on the word of the Lord if you have faith, you are not at all understanding what God is telling you.

It is interesting to hear the term saved. Often times Paul uses the term saved in the perfect tense which clearly shows an ongoing state of being saved. For by Grace you have been saved. σεσῳσμένοι is clearly in the perfect tense. You are in a state of being saved. It isn't dependent upon what you do or not do.

Hope this helps

Based on your understanding on all the sabbaths , which one of the sabbaths Jesus fulfilled and which He did Not

Thank you

Jesus fulfilled all the old covenant with all its sabbaths. He attended all the feasts even in going up in secret. While doing so He introduced a New Covenant (contract) by His life and His teaching and established it by His death and resurrection.

The New Covenant (Contract) is not an addendum to the old contract nor is it a revision of the old contract. It’s a new and different contract. Sure there are some similarities. There are similarities in all of God’s contracts that He made whether the contract is made with individuals or groups of individuals going back to Noah because they come from the same God. In the covenant (contract) with Noah there was no murder, lying, stealing, adultery etc… and there were similar clauses in the contracts with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the Israelites. And there are also similar clauses in the latest contract (the New Covenant) with the children of God. These are all separate agreements not an accumulation of addendums or revisions of the same covenant (contract/agreement) going back to Noah.

Actually for anyone or group that the Lord reveals Himself to there is an agreement (covenant/contract) established between them involving certain commandments, duties or requirements. One example is when the Lord revealed Himself to the parents of John the Baptists there was an agreement made (a covenant/contract) between them that involved specific instructions as to how the child was to be raised. It was not an addendum to the covenant made with the Israelites.... it was a separate covenant (contract/agreement) and applicable only to John’s parents. The same was so for the parents of Samson and so on....

Now the New Covenant (Contract/Agreement) is going to have some similarities to the old one: no stealing, lying, murdering, adultery etc… because it came from the same God. But it’s an entirely different agreement/contract than the old one and it replaces the old agreement… it’s not an addendum or a revised version of the old contract.

It’s not a sin for people to attempt to keep certain clauses in the old covenant because of their traditions or admiration for the beauty in the old covenant. But to be under the New Covenant and then to teach that there are certain clauses in the old covenant (contract/agreement) that are binding upon those who are under the New Covenant, a different contract that replaced the old one, then I do believe that can lead to judgement because of error.

I would agree the presence of the Holy Spirit is confirmation enough. but not that we are all that we should be. He is teaching us always as we go from faith to faith and become more like Jesus. God bless and keep you.

The answer that i am looking for are along these lines

John 1

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

What commandement /s out of the ten would you say that Adam and Eve broke when they ate of the tree

You haven’t understood a thing I said about contracts. There’s nothing more I can say. Some worship the Ten Commandments… not the old contract that they were adjoined to… but they take out 10 clauses because God thundered them from Sinai and hold them up as this eternal writ that was created before Adam.

Deuteronomy 29

King James Version (KJV)

1 These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.
2 And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that theLord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;

9Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.
10 Ye stand this day all of you before the Lord your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,
11 Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:
12 That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the Lord thy God, and into his oath, which the Lord thy God maketh with thee this day:
13 That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
14 Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
15 But with him that standeth here with us this day before the Lord our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:
