I get a kick out of people who are advocating the Mosaic Law, and the ones who negate the Mosaic Law. The law people are adamant that Jesus rose on the Sabbath day which wold have profaned the Sabbath, which would not complete 3 days and three nights in the tomb. There seems to be a contradiction in the Bible about that, but then we must rightly divide the Word of truth.
Can you show me why a burial just before sunset on Wednesday with a resurrection just before sunset on Saturday is NOT three days and three nights? This is pretty basic math. Three days = 12 * 3 = 36 hours. Three nights = 3 * 12 = 36 hours. Ad them up and one gets 72 hours. When is 72 hours after just before sunset on Wenesday?

Are you saying the first day of the week is the sabbath? You wrote: "Now the others that don't think the law has any validity for today, would like to believe that Jesus rose from the dead on the first day of the week, which is correct, but then want to say that Jesus was buried, or killed on the day before the Sabbath which is incorrect." If you are going to Keep the Law you better be doing the sacrifices too. Galatians 5:1-4.
No.

Sabbath means seventh. I like Galatians 5:1-4, and you will like to know that Jesus taught the Old Testament truth clear up until he said "It is finished." You might also like to know that Jesus ripped the Pharisees for not believing Moses' writings.

Hebrews 9:16-17 (KJV)
[SUP]16 [/SUP]For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

John 5:45-47 (KJV)
[SUP]45 [/SUP]Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
[SUP]46 [/SUP]For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
[SUP]47 [/SUP]But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Sabbath=seven, or the completion of the week. First means number one, or the beginning of the week. Sunday, as we know it, is the first day of the week, not the last.

Days and nights, not hours. I see you reasoning, but then we would have to say that when Jesus died and 3 PM was when the Hebrew day, or night started. The hour math then would have to say that Jesus rose from the dead at 3 PM, the last day of the week. It's the same misunderstanding about the Passover. The 14th day the lamb was dead, and eaten at night. So some say the Passover is the 14th, and I say the Passover is the 15th. I say it is the 15th, because the lamb was killed during the day of the 14th, and eaten during the night of the 15th as the angel passed over. The blood was on the doorposts on the 14th, and did its job on the 15th.

Days and nights? How many hours in the daylight portion?

Joh 11:9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

Now is this all there is? Just twelve hours? What about night?

Joh 11:10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

Jesus here shows that there are twelve hours in the daylight portion and then there is night. How many hours are there from sunset to sunset? There are 24 hours so three days and three nights is 72 hours.

But you have one minor problem then,if you put it at 72 hours then Jesus rose from the dead on the FOURTH day not the third day as the scriptures say. Because after 72 it's the start of the FOURTH day.

The question, or misunderstanding can be resolved by believing one of two things. Did Jesus raise from the dead in the light of the sun, or was His resurrection during the time of darkness? I think He was resurrected at night, you say He was resurrected before it was dark still being that last part of day three. Believe it if you would like to.:)

All I'm seeing from different sides, (excluding myself) claiming that Jesus rose on the Sabbath. One side says it's Saturday, and the other side argues that it's Sunday claiming one or the other of these days as the Sabbath day. Sunday isn't the Sabbath. Again, I say that nightfall is the beginning of the next day. Under that concept, that's the way scripture is written. The beginning of darkness is counted as the beginning of the next day. Jesus rose on the first day of the week while it was yet dark.

That's correct the fourth day is when He rose.

Matthew 27:63 (KJV)

[SUP]63 [/SUP]Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

Four is the very next number after three.:D

The passover starts on the the 13th at sundown which will be the 14th at evening that is simple
A day has one evening thus evening and the morning were the 1st day
the 1st evening is a new day and also the only evening of that day
Sundown 14th is on the 15th and is not the evenig of the 14th anymore

Jesus arose as the first day was appraching at evening

Matthew 28

you have to calculate when Jesus entered the tomb not when He died that was the sign

According to Exodus the lamb was slaughtered on the 14th, not the day before. The 10th day correlates with Jesus entering Jerusalem on a colt. As it reads, the colt's mother was also there, by the way. According to Exodus 12, the lamb was secured on the 10th day. We all know that Jesus followed suit with this timeline.

Exodus 12:3-6 (KJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
[SUP]6 [/SUP]And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

I don't see a difference between sundown and evening. So according to Exodus 12:12-13 (KJV) was the Passover before the lamb was killed, or was it at night following the 14th?
[SUP]

[/SUP]For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

We all know He died at 3PM. So does that mean that He died on Passover in difference to when God passed over at night recorded in Exodus? God didn't pass over during the daylight hours.

The passover lamb was killed in the daylight hours of the 14th. It was eaten that same evening; whether it was light or dark outside seems to be pretty irrelevant. The only requirement was that nothing of it could remain by sunrise.

Even though I am new testament this forum have made me actually study my bible more
What Isdaniel and John832 is saying seems to make sense 75% of the way but i am getting there
Why would Jesus say that is the only sign ? this debate have made me look at this verse more closely
I am not into the sabbath thing but i honestly think from reading these post so far Jesus did not resurrect on a sunday morning

i always thought the day starts 12am but thanks for the vedio it helped alot

dawn
(dôn)n.1. The time each morning at which daylight first begins.
2. A first appearance; a beginning: the dawn of history. See Synonyms at beginning.

intr.v. dawned, dawn·ing, dawns1. To begin to become light in the morning.
2. To begin to appear or develop; emerge.
3. To begin to be perceived or understood: Realization of the danger soon dawned on us.

I have been looking up the word "Dawn" in the Dictionary.com site and have been investigating this word for over a week now. My question is Can the word Dawn besides meaning daybreak or sunrise. Can it also mean beginning of evening. Like the Dawn of the evening approaches. Dawn everywhere I look up means beginning. The reason I asked is because. I'm trying to prove to a friend that Dawn can mean more than just Sunrise but in fact it can mean sunset as well. I get this Idea from 1600 century English from a verse in the

King James Bible Matt. Chapter 28 Verse 1. In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn (toward the first day of the week), came Mary Magdaline and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

The context of the verse seems that dawn is referring to the beginning of the night.

Because part one of the verse (end of the Sabbath) would mean Saturday afternoon approaching Evening. The 3rd part of the verse says. (Toward the first day of the week) Also referring to coming into the Evening of 6PM Saturday night starting the new week of Sunday or first day.

If one doesn't count the days right, they cannot comprehend the beauty to behold, knowing that Pentecost, and the thunder and lightening from God at Mount Sinai were both on the 3rd day of the 3rd month.

Exodus 19:1 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.

Exodus 19:16 (KJV)
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

Exodus 24:4 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, (the next day, the 4th day) and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

Exodus 24:12 (KJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.

Now the first commandments given were moral commandments to be kept by the people including the 10 commandments given at the same time. The tablets of stone were instructions for sacrifice and construction of the temple. Therefore the 10 commandments were not written on stones, they were written by Moses according to what he heard from God.

John 4:22-24 (KJV)
[SUP]22 [/SUP]Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
[SUP]23 [/SUP]But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

2 Corinthians 3:1-5 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
[SUP]2 [/SUP]Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
