I wonder what was accomplished here ? I am exhausted from all the different
theories, learning nothing from them.
I prefer to believe my Lord is allowing me to simply love Him and make every
day a Sabbath day, because I chose to allow Christ to live in my heart, and make
Him Lord over all my life.
How confusing this OP made the Christian walk and love of our Lord. No one
person is going to believe the same as another. We each have our own
independent relationship with our Father, Savior, and Holy Spirit.
I think you have it right about our differences. I think if we accept scripture, we must accept that God gave a special blessing to one day, Exo_20:11 For the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days; then He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and declared it holy. But you see, redtent somehow I see you in the edge between this. Yes as we both agree that the Sabbath was made for us, and its beneficial right? Why would such a command accuse a believer for benefiting it on another day? Either way they are both helpful as God intended right?
But then this is where we cut off ends. You believe it must only be on the Sabbath. This statement is a contradiction to the one above. Your making sound like we are made for the Sabbath, so it must be on this specific day. I don't know how I can break that down redtent.
Jesus is the Lord, He has every right to change the whole covenant of the old and make it new. That's when He speaks as the "Lord of the Sabbath."
Jesus gave us examples of those who break it for the better of good, because it's not really broken...you see?
I think you are adding to what Jesus was talking about. You are saying it is 'moral practices' when Christ was saying love must enter in to the day God made holy. If we do something unloving, it is not honoring the holy day.actually if you read it, Jesus was meaning that external practices should give way for moral righteousness. That's why I posted the scripture quoted and then from that exact passage. He desires compassion over a external ordinance.
Isn't it a wonder how man can make simple truths mean so many different things to them? Scripture is so simple, we just need to accept all of it and let it fit together. God created the world to include a day God made Holy. God did that, it can't be changed by humans. We are to treat it as a holy day with a special blessing other days of the week doesn't have. God sent His son so when we don't live exactly as God told us to we can be forgiven. Very simple. If we love God and His Son, and accept the Holy Spirit God sent, we will walk in His ways and accept that God blessed a day in the week that God made holy. That these simple facts can be pulled and stretched into something different by born again Christians must be bewildering even to our Lord.I wonder what was accomplished here ? I follow the 4th commandment as God wrote. I don't do a lot of what you listed as it can be done ahead on Friday. Common sense has to be used. God said if the ox is in the ditch you would not leave it there to suffer. People try to make the Sabbath much harder to observe than God's instructions were. 10 simple commandments from God and you would think the sky was falling to try to honor God's request. Which can only be done through Christ Jesus but no one ever hears what I am saying or what God was asking.
That is the way the Pharisees kept the sabbath, they made legalistic. Jesus showed us how to properly keep the sabbath. He healed the sick on the sabbath, allowed his hungry disciples to pick and eat corn on the sabbath (Luke 6:1-11). In verse 9 Jesus covers how you should keep the sabbath. Remember the Pharisees were enemies of Christ. Sadducee, Pharisee, Holy See all changing God's law, all denying Jesus in some way.
It wasn't legalism that Christ told about so we would know the right way. It was obeying without their heart. All of our obedience must be from the heart to our doing, neither can be left out. That is the way the Pharisees kept the sabbath, they made legalistic. I had no idea that I was fleeing in total fear!! Or that you were looking to ME for answers to the questions God asks of you. Frankly, I am only one of a million people, and if I don't report what God says correctly, then I am worse than no one. Your question is certainly not clear. You know perfectly well that we are all sinners, and Christ was sent to us for that reason. God says to honor one day in the week as a special day that is especially holy, that is what God says. When we don't do as God says then it is a sin, and we need to repent and go to Christ for His grace. I have nothing to do with that, God is the one you need to go to for answers. We do not have to fulfill nor are we obligated to fulfill the law where Jesus has already fulfilled it. That does not mean that we live in sin or that we transgress the law. What is does mean is that we abide in Christ because we have the Spirit within and the grace we need to love God, ourselves and our neighbor or fellow man. RedTent I asked you some specific questions about keeping the Sabbath and you will not or refuse to answer them because of what it might reveal about what you believe and how you treat the grace of God. IS IT A TRANSGRESSION AND AN UNRIGHTEOUS ACT IF I DO NOT KEEP THE SABBATH AS THE LAW PRESCRIBES? IF I DO NOT KEEP IT AND IT IS SIN OR A TRANSGRESSION, DID THE BLOOD OF CHRIST PAY FOR THAT TRANSGRESSION OF NOT KEEPING THE SABBATH AND DO I NEED TO REPENT OF MY TRANSGRESSION AND BEGIN TO KEEP THE SABBATH AS PRESCRIBED BY THE LAW?
You and others flee these kind of questions because you are afraid to answer them objectively or you do not understand what Christ did when he fulfilled the law and put us under grace. If I asked you if committing adultery or stealing was a transgression of the law you would not hesitate to tell me that it is and that I would need to confess my sin and repent. It is the same for not keeping the Sabbath?
Yes, It has became a sin when the law was place and making you aware of that you are doing wrong, but if your parent remove it, then you are not a sinner anymore, but you realize now, that you were a disobedient person that needs help to learn how to be obedient at the time (And which we all need a obedient training collar for our necks). I'm going to use this as an example; If God told you as an 3 years old child to love everyone unconditionally, but as a child, you will do it with no problem. Like children, they doesn't see the things as we see them. If a person is a Liar, they wouldn't careless and will still love them (And so God can't test them to see if they can love someone unconditionally), but if they has grown and see what has happen when someone lies, then it will be hard for them to forgive them, because they has seen the works of lying and what it can cause, and so it made them aware of it. And now God can test them to see if they can love someone unconditionally that they do not know. All God is trying to do is to make us aware of sin first, and then see if we still can love a sinner as He has done, and to show us what He has done for us by forgiving. Back then the people heart were hard and didn't take sin seriously. One moment they can hate someone, and the next moment they are drinking buddies. So can anybody love their enemies? That take great power and understanding to able to do that; but if we weren't aware of sin, yes we can forgive.
That has nothing to do with the Sabbath of the Lord. It is talking about food.
