Straight forward question: can a Christian be saved WITHOUT doing these "produced works"???

A Christian is already saved. He is a part of Jesus Christ's Body (Eph. 5:30).

If a Christian does not do good works after getting saved, well then that Christian will have nothing to show for at the Judgment Seat of Christ and in eternity. He will still be saved; yet so as by fire (1 Cor. 3:15).

And he will be known in eternity as the Christian who never did anything for Christ. And what a tragedy that would be.

So you are in agreement with me that it is IMPOSSBILE for YOU to live your entire life and NEVER do ANY TYPE of work yet still be saved...correct?

1- if I am not doing obeeiently working God's commandments, I do not love God, Jn 14:15,21 mush less should Iexpect to be saved.

2 - Heb 5:9 "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;" So ifI have any desire to be saved I better do works in obeying Christ. Reding yourpost above YOU feel works are needed....

You posted "I believe in a way without works you aren't really saved."

You also posted "I believe doing works can't save you. But once you're saved you should do works to keep your faith strong".

I have been willing in this thread to ASSSUME for a moment "Joe" can be saved by faith alone/no works. So my question is can Joe NOT do those works that keeps his faith strong and still be saved? Remember you already said "without works you aren't really saved".

So AFTER Joe has ALREADY BECOME a Christian, can Christian Joe do NO works at all as a Christian yet still be saved?
Dear Sir, just a suggestion: the frequent use of capital letters may give the erroneous impression that you are shouting at Ms. Presley.

Universalism is not taught in the bible.

God will not save those that "obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ", 2 Thess 1:8... if He does then He lies breaking this promise .
Why is He saving you? Because you have a job?

Romans 3:28-30
[SUP]28 [/SUP]Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

[SUP]29 [/SUP]Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

[SUP]30 [/SUP]Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

These are 2 types of people. Who are the circumcised and who are the uncircumcised?

Do you consider yourself ungodly? If not, then who are these people?

Romans 4:4-5

[SUP]4 [/SUP]Now to him that worketh (That's you right) is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

[SUP]5 [/SUP]But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Just a thought..

We as Christians tend to over think things.
When this happens it just makes a mess.
If we know doing good works pleases our Father does it really matter why we do them? ( yes I know in a way it does..we shouldn't do them thinkin God will give us something in return.)
Shouldnt it be enough just to know works are needed and do them because we know they are needed regardless of why we need to?
Sorry its just a thought. I'm enjoying everyone's thoughts and their ceases on the mater. And by no means am I trying to say what's right or wrong. I just wanna know if I have the wrong/right mindset on this. I'm still learning myself so please be patient with me.
Straight forward question: can a man live hs entire life and NEVER DO ANY kind of work at all and yet still be saved? Yes? No?

(Those that follow the doctrine of "faith only" think man does NOT have to do ANY WORKS AT ALL to be saved, so I am putting that theory to the test. So far they say one does not have to do any works to BECOME saved, but they are struggling with works AFTER one is saved)

Presley:

Grace (Ephesians 2.8) needs to be at the heart of the believer's dependent attitude towards God, doesn't it?

Blessings.

3 - My queston is can one AFTER he saved do NO WORKS AT ALL and yet still be saved? Please answer with a simple 'yes' or 'no' and we can get to the bottom line of this thread quickly.
I guess in a way yes I agree. But I don't.
I'm not good with words and I have no clue how to explain it.

If a man is saved he wants to do works. But if a man doesn't want to do works then maybe he was never saved in the first place?

I just don't know. All I know. Is I'm saved. I want to do good works. And that's all that matters.

Not shouting, just hi-lite certain words for emphasis.

Hmmm no.
To not do any works at all means to not love God.
At least that's how I feel.

Verse 9 says: 'not of works', for salvation.

Blessings.

You post "If a man is saved he wants to do works" "Faith only" says he does not have to.

Some proponents of faith only say one MUST do works AFTER he is saved for those works are evidence/proof that he has been saved.

They are unknowingly, unconscientiously making works NECESSARY for salvation.

The works prove one is saved, lack of works prove one is not saved.

The bottom line if you give great thought to it > it is no way possible for one to be saved WITHOUT ever doing any works at all. Once I can convience people of this, then I can convience them that OBEDIENT WORKS that are done BEFORE one is saved do NOT earn salvation no more than works done AFTER one is saved earn salvation.

I think you got it well understood! :)

For all of us, it's challenge to live day by day in the light of what we know and enjoy of the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Blessings.

I followed a little bit of this and I'm not an expert here at all but if one loves the Lord, with all his/her heart, how could one not serve him? Those who are in the body of Christ and are actively working with God in their faith want to serve, and they do. So if you're just sitting around when your neighbor needs a hand, or if you're living a wanton lifestyle of greed and power while others are suffering and you proclaim Christ - well, you never knew him.

Okay please don't take this as me being rude.
But I'm gonna have to stop talkin about this.
I'm really getting confused...
I know what I think and how I feel.
But I can't explain it. And seems to me when I try I make things worse. And I really don't wanna say something that is wrong or confuse anyone else..
I'm sorry. Please forgive me.

I agree. And this means salvation is not possible by faith only/no works.

So can one NOT do works BEFORE being saved, that is NOT LOVE God yet still be saved while NOT loving God? No.

The obedient works one does BEFORE being saved (belief, repentance, confession baptism) prove His love for God as much as the works one does AFTER he is saved and NONE of those works BEFORE or AFTER earn nothing.

In order for one to become a Christian, he MUST faithfully obey God in doing works of believing, Jn 8;24; repentance, Lk 13:3,5 confession, Matt 10:32,33 and submit to baptism, Mk 16:16.

Then upon becoming a Christian and remaining saved, the Christian MUST maintain an obedient faith, Rev 2:10, keeping Christ works Rev 2:26, continue walking in the light so all his sin can continually be cleansed, 1 Jn 1:7 and do good works that God pre-ordained Christians to wallk in, Eph 2:10, Matt 25:32ff

It therefore is IMPOSSIBLE for a man to do nothing his entire life and yet still be saved. No verse says "do nothing" to become a Christian and "do nothing" to remain a faithful Christian.

A thought:

1 Tim 5:8 "But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

If I had to go out and get a job to WORK in order to provide for those of my own house, else be a faithless infidel, does that secular WORK I am doing mean that I am trying to merit my salvation, ie, keep from being a lost, faithless infidel?

If eternal security were true, does that mean I do not have to work to provide for my house and can still be saved as a fatihless infidel?

So can anyone demonstrate how a man can never do ANY KIND of work his entire life yet still be saved?
The thief who was on the cross next to Jesus will be really disappointed to hear that.

The thief lived and died under the OT law, and therfore is not an example of NT salvation.

Secondly, what proof do you have that the thief never did anything at all?

Wow, sorry; I'm amazed at this attempt to try to build a doctrine of works salvation on this...

May I ask why you want to know so badly?
I mean it seems to me you love God. You want to live to glorify him.
You know works are needed.
So why do ya wanna know so bad? Isn't it enough to just do what you feel is right without asking others?

By no means am I saying you're wrong for asking and trying to find out.
I just mean sometimes it's easier and better to go with what we feel. If we are doin wrong I truly believe God will help turn us around.
