Bad tattoos are bad.

Some tattoos are obtained because they are faith based designs; Christian fish symbol <><, Bible verse/reference, etc. They are proven to be effective conversation-starters.

Blessings.
You seem to be encouraging young people to have tattoos I suppose you would do the same to your kids or grandkids. Why don't you encourage them in the way of our Lord Jesus.

I hope I certainly do encourage people to follow the Lord Jesus, by His grace.

What I said was to state facts; a lot of Christians do get faith based tattoos; they are indeed proven effective as conversation-starters. These are facts. I don't recall ever saying, however, Get a tattoo! it's an individual thing.

Blessings.

True, but your message is clear enough.
Just check how many threads and posts you have on tattoos...

I rest my case. :D

Tatouages zijn wel nog meer verspreidt in Nederland maar...

(Telling him that tattoos are even more widespread in The Netherlands...)

Stated differently, you won't find me telling people to get inked. It's undeniable that ink is out there, though. (Beyond my words, my thoughts are as inscrutable as Willem-Alexander's enigmatic expression.)

Well I have no tattoos, and am not a big fan of tattoos, though I never really give much a care if people have tattoos. Its frankly so common of my generation and the preceding generation that I hardly even notice anyones' tattoos.

However, I just wanted to chime in on the excuse people have that I see that is so common. People have reasoned (and not just on here but also in my personal life) they get a tattoo for a "conversation starter." I feel this is a flawed argument for getting a tattoo.

Ye need no tattoo to start a conversation about the Bible or Jesus I can assure you for I have no tattoos and have started such conversations with people of diverse backgrounds. All one must do is speak. Simply initiating conversation is free and painless, and more effective.

As for actually getting a tattoo, I would advise against it personally moreso for simple common sense reasons, but I am not sure if it is a sin or not

So true that it's hugely widespread.

(PS: A lot of Christians do find it a means of communicating faith.)

If this works fine for you, great!

So is weed, but I don't agree with drug usage too.
(Google Translate fails by the way.)

There's nothing enigmatic about Willy

I've noticed tattoos becoming as some 'trend' with people around my age and it's like they have to show them off... It get annoying after a while. I don't see THAT big of a deal with them, though I'll admit that I've wanted 'one' for the sake of the design I'd like it as... This was even before I saw this becoming a trend.

I'm surprised at many of the responses here. I've always thought Christians saw tattoos as sinful.
PS:

Well, it's just as well that you've wanted to do it for a long time, because doing it at short notice on a whim can easily cause regrets in the longer term; you need to know exactly what you want and have careful plans, even if you have the desire to have it done.

Not to digress to far from the topic but I just wanted to say that video made me laugh and I'm not sure why lol.

As for the tattoos and weed comparison, I get what you're trying to say. It did make me think of something, I know some people that have a lot of tatoos have told me it is something akin to an addiction. Though this is only what I have heard from people absolutely covered in tatoos. I suppose it's fair to say not everyone tattoos themself because its addicting, but that for some people it can be an addiction.

Doing it, and being addicted to it, are different. With faith based ink, it's the testimony angle that has precedence over the ink angle, really.

For a few months I’ve been watching a lot of young adults Christians that all the time they are talking about obeying God but they are getting tattoos in all their bodies. It just dont make sense to me, so if someone understand please explain to me
I hope that you would want to be holy since God is holy and calls us to be holy so you ask yourself did Jesus get a tattoo? He would of broken his own law had He done so But saying this I know if you had a tattoo before you were saved I think you are going to be okay but I know I would want my removed Honor God with your body for its is a temple hope this helps you

What do you think of a faith based design such as a Bible ref. or a Christian fish symbol <>< that actually points people in a holy direction? and may be effective in witness conversations?

Blessings.

What I meant was, I don't see the comparison.
They only real 'comparison' is that tattoos are 'widespread in the Netherlands' (according to you), and weed is too. It don't have to agree with something just because it's 'widespread' though, that was the whole point I tried to make.

There is also a joy in witnessing and a Bible verse tattoo, etc., is something that a lot of Christians use to help in their witnessing.

Even if you yourself would not get one, can you respect the motives of those who do?

Try putting tape on your arm with a verse on it or a symbol You would still get a response from people without marking your temple up
