Yes rest from sin, sin is breaking the law. If you are still breaking it then you are not resting..
If you are still working at the law you are not resting from your works.
Hebrews 4:9-10
[SUP]
9 [/SUP]There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
[SUP]
10 [/SUP]For he that is entered into his rest,
he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Its got nothing to do with adding works. The fruit of the spirit is obedience to God. you can't have the fruit of the Spirit and break the commandments at the same time. they are contrary to each other. Thus the law is not against the fruit of the Spirit..
You can't have the fruit of the Spirit and work at the law in your own power at the same time.
You can't enter into the rest that is given to the people of God and continue working at the law at the same time.
The fruit of the spirit is given to those who have and are entering, His Rest.
The Law does not condemn the fruits of the Spirit because it is in line with the law.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Which one of the fruits is in line with rest on saturdays???
Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
Disobedience to God is works not rest.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
People work for wages.
Rom_6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
IF you break the commandments of God then you have not the fruit of the spirit and you are not resting.
Walking in the shadow of the OT and not trusting in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ is unbelief and works of the law.
Attempting to be obedient to the ministry of death written on stones is a misunderstanding of what Christianity is. You have relied on your own understanding and philosophy instead of submitting to the Righteousness of God, which is by faith.
Galatians 3:9-12
[SUP]
9 [/SUP]So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
[SUP]
10 [/SUP]For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
[SUP]
11 [/SUP]But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
[SUP]
12 [/SUP]And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
