Just reading again Rom.9:1-5 and I see Paul give a claim ,proof, of Christ being the "eternal God". v,4-5 The fathers are from God, The Christ is from the fathers, Jewish, and Christ is the "eternally blessed God. Amen." "Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen" In this paragraph Paul show his deep love for his people, the Jews, He wished himself cursed for them. Paul, knows this is impossible but he shows His feeling, "anyhow", this is like God's emotions, of not wishing anyone to perish, sincere but impossible. God has emotions.! We are remake, born again, in the image of God. Praise God , Love to all, Hoffco

The old sinner Saul was converted on the road to Damascus. He was restored to the image of God in which Adam was created. As we study the Life of the Apostle Paul we see the transformation over night. He immediately preached Christ. I would dare say : that Paul starts each of his letters with this radical transformation of the New Birth. Romans 1:5 "for the obedience of the faith" v.7 "called to be saints" v.16 "the power of God to salvation" v.17 "The just shall live by faith" 2:6-7 "who will render to each one according to his deeds. Eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality" v.13"for not the hearer of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified" v. 26-29 "Therefore, if an uncircumcised man keeps the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision?...For he is not a Jewwho is one outwardly,.... But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter whose praise is not from men but from God." This is the way Paul introdues salvationin his letters, alway with

Sorry, my PC got stuck and would not obey me. Instead of correcting my mistakes ,it erases letters. I am saying, Paul follows the order of salvation as God gave it in Rom. 8:29-30. The powerful "calling" comes before the "justified". Then in 1 Cor. ch.1 Paul talks "to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints," He says nothing of justification until ch.6:11 "washed...sanctified...justified.." The "washed" is, as in, Titus, the "washing of regeneration" which is the cleansing of our evil conscience, then he says, "and renewing of the Holy Spirit," as in Tit.3:5 and in v.7 Paul says, "justified by His grace"... . Paul's first concern is that we are "born again" then "justified" both by Grace. Love to all, Hoffco

I am thinking,:confused:So, I am slow in posts a lot of Facts. :p But ,in the end, It is time to post. :) "One with God ,is a majority":D I love these faces, but I don't know what )D means.?? Ah, I know this one, confusion. "enough is enough" So, I get mad at myself, and move on, cool man,! LOL
I am trying to get people to see the facts; What is obvious.? Paul, and all the Bible, has some very obvious facts for me. SO!, I preach the obvious facts, and tell my congregation, If You can work within these guide lines, stay with me. if not ,please, move on. So that keeps peace in my church. But, this attitude doesn't always keep peace in my home. My wife, pastora in our church, says, "you must stop telling the people, 'don't give to God', if you can not buy food for your family". I think i am being good to them, she says, they are confused. I tell them, only give as God has blessed you. If you can afford to give one peso, it is ok, so, last week the offering was 40 pesos. I am ,happy, she is mad at me. I see this work as a mission to the poor, she sees it as a living. So, I tell her, if you need more money, than I give you, 1,000 pesos a wk., plus all her needs, go get a job. She starts baking and has her sister sell it on the streets, but refuses to pay her sister, I pay her sister for working for us and the mission/church. I say, no way Senorita, Hosa! I will not pay your helper, doing your business. Your business has to earn money for our mission and our livelihood, not take money out of my pocket. She, volunteers for Kiwanis work, I say, get out of Kiwanis , I can not afford it. Most Philippine women, think all Americans are rich. Pray, my money runs out every month. Love to all.Hoffco

What is in your life experience, that can only be explained by God? If you don't have a personal experience of being delivered from a life of sin, I don't want to hear that Jesus has saved you from sin, it just isn't real. I know how Jesus saved me from my life in sin, He came powerfully into my heart and turn my life completely around. My first intro. to Christianity was wrong, My asking Jesus to forgive me of my sin, did nothing for me. But when I was made real to repent and yield my life to Jesus, God came in ,in power an converted me, from sin to righteousness. This was my "new birth". So, don't tell me, you are "born again" if your are not different. You must be a new "creation in Christ" to be saved and forgiven. Love to all, Hoffco

In Romans 9-11 we see the contrast of God's side of salvation and man's side; chs, 9&11 are God's sovereign choice and ch. 10 is evangelism and man's choice. And Paul makes a powerful case for the fact that no sinful, abnormal person, normal is perfect, no abnormal person can come to saving faith on their own. ie, Israel was confronted by the word of God's for centuries and they failed to believe and obey God on their own. So, all our evangelism is useless unless God gives the gift of Faith. Love to all, Hoffco

Romans 9-11 are a unit closing out Paul's teaching and arguments of chs, 1-8. At this point in our study, it is extremely important we fully understand chs,1-8 and their relationship to chs.9-11. SO, we can come to Paul's grand conclusion in ch. 12, : "THEREFORE". 12:1. SO, I am going slowly. If you don't like my method ,just read and and learn, or stay away. You may present you view, BUT, Please no lone irrelevant posts. Love to all. Hoffco

I did a study, last night, of 1Cor, ch. 1; On the 5 or 6 times Paul uses the effectual, powerful word's: "called", "calling", in vs. 1,2,9,24,26. Paul is referring to Rom.8 29-30; The golden, unbreakable chain of God's eternal Covenant of GRACE. 1. Foreknew=eternally loved 2. predestined= eternally election 3. called=new birth 4. justified=forgiveness 5 glorified= perfection after death. I think Paul refers to this order in ever letter he wrote. So, when Paul talks of "called" in 1Cor. 1, I know He is on the third step in God's plan of salvation. Please study Eph. and see what steps Paul refers to, and the order of the steps. Love to all, Hoffco

Were you able to see how POWERFUL the "calling " of God is that saved us sinners? Our study in 1Cor, ch 1 was meant to show you the powerful conversion "calling" of the Holy Spirit is that saved you. Can you relate to how dead you were when God found you in your dead, sinful state, in which you were "helpless" to free your self from your bondage in and to sin? Are you truly born into God's "holy family"? I just reviewed 2 cor. today and saw how Paul is retelling their salvation experience; How powerful it was. 2Cor. 1:18-21 "...God is faithful, Jesus Christ... was preached among you ...For all the promises of God in Him are Yes,...to the glory God...Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, Who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. ...we...are fellow workers for your joy, for by faith you stand." Then in 2 cor.3:5-9 "...our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant,...But the Spirit gives life. But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious,...How will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?...the ministry of righteousness (holiness of life to us by Jesus, N,T,) exceeds much more in glory." then,16-18, ...when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord, is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the spirit of he Lord." Then 4:4-6 "...the god of this age has blinded,...For it is the God, who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ," We were moved from the kingdom of darkness to Jesus' kingdom of light, wow , what a change.!! Then 5:17-20 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,...we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God." Salvation work was not finished on the cross, The ministry of Jesus and the Spirit today has to make us new creations in Grace' power. This is the powerful "calling" of the new birth and further more we, preach that reconciliation is available for all who trust in Jesus finished work on the cross, and only by faith can we be reconciled to God, But the other side of salvation is the Spirit's powerful transforming work in our dead hearts making us alive to God and to the holy way of life. This is why Paul starts Romans with the Sanctifying work of God then in chs.3-5 he gets into Justification. Please keep studying the powerful transformation of Eph. chs. 1 & 2. Love to all Hoffco.

Hoffco why are you talking to yourself?? Lol
God morning Simiel, That is a good question, which I did ask myself. And now I received my answer, someone will respond. Congratulation, you are a "first responded". LOL. Maybe you will volunteer to help me keep this good study going. All we need is a hand full of good people who have a heart to study the Bible and share the wonderful truths with the world of CC. I have had a lot of "likes" on my posts, so I know there are some Christians out there that like a good in deep study. Romans, just because of its position as the 6th book of the N.T. is a very key book to understanding the N.T.. Would you not agree to that? I Love all the Scriptures, Of course, but Romans is one of my best loved books. If you agree with my interpretation, please joint me in making the study stay alive. Even if you don't 100% agree, if you are fair minded and promise not to flood the thread with garbage nonsense, you are welcome to joint, Of course, I am the one who calls the shots. It is my study. To God be the glory, great things He is doing, My OLD age is proving to be my most fruitful. Love to all, Hoffco

I see our "guest" list is growing to 5 in number. Soon, some will be happy to read my good way of "rightly dividing" (relating) scriptures with scriptures to gain the true meaning of God words to us. It is hard to find anyone who is willing to do the work to extract the gold out of the mine of God's word. The writings of God (the Bible) are full of richness, but it takes a lot of work to dig the doctrinal content out from the surroundings of the everyday settings of the personal live data that hides the meat of the word of God. So, we must "mine" out the gold. The book of Romans is very full of deep doctrine. Love to all, Hoffco

Romans 1:1-6
“we have received grace from Christ for obedience of faith”. So grace is defined as the power to be obedient...a power that is Christ’s alone.
"Jesus Christ our Lord through Whom we received grace and apostleship unto obedience of faith."

Why did you leave out "apostleship"? There is no definition of grace here. But there is an intended result or purpose (of apostleship) = obedience of faith. To define grace as obedience is unbiblical. The meaning is established by the contexts of the appearances in Greek literature and any definition given in the Bible. A statement like: "grace means X" would define it, its purpose does not define apostleship nor grace.

You may include grace with the apostleship as governing the purpose.

Grace is favor; in the Bible grace is the favor of God contrary to man's deserts. Paul's apostleship (a matter of great grace) was bestowed on him that the Gentiles might believe. To be saved one obeys the command:

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.

Atwood, Thank you for you post. I think you definition of GRACE is very shallow. Please read all my posts, so far, before you attempt again to teach on my thread. I will gave a summery for you and our others readers: GRACE is a very POWERFUL and a very LOVING word which is the real and only source of our great salvation from God. My resent posts will show this very clearly. I an currently seeking to give a review of Romans chs. 1-8, before we continue on to chs. 9-11. Romans is basic to all the writings of the apostle Paul. What Rom.1:5-7 teaches is: NKJV, "Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, Among all nations for His name, Among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ; To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." Now if you will read my posts , you will get the full interpretation of those verses. Thanks, Love to all, Hoffco

What is your proof that favor (in particular God's favor-contrary-to-merit) is shallow?
Unmerited favor is better, but, still it is shallow , as God's grace is both unmerited favor and power to convert. Favor by it self can mean approval. As in the fact that God approval of Mary and thus He chose her to birth his Messiah. Where as in "My grace is sufficient for you",, God is saying My Grace is powerful and is all you need to live a godly life and stand against the opposition that you face. Therfor, GRACE is both unmerited power and mercy to convert the sinner. love to all, Hoffco
