You're the one saying that I said every guy used that thread. I was using it as an example that looks do bring some sort of impact when it comes to what people prefer since personality isn't what stands out when you first see someone. It's even proven biologically as to how people find as a suitable mate. I'm okay with that, just not when people deny the looks and say it's all about personality without second thought since that denies how we work when it comes to the chemistry when having relationships built. That's how you will get to the personality of someone.

No encouragement here.... as I am all about the heart and spirit of a person 150% no doubt about that
I applaud you for that. I'm not trying to make it seem like I'm attacking women by the way. I know you didn't accuse me but for anyone who to read it, just wanted to clarify. I agree it's all bout the heart and spirit. It's just unfortunate we can't see that. And more often than not it'll be the built guy or skinny girl who gets the more attention to a guy who isn't as built or a woman who isn't as skinny. That's why I think stuff like eyes and hair matters. We can comment about those and we all have favorite colors.

That's when stuff like the eyes and hair matters. Society has made to where it's much more than that though.

Attractive means something different for everyone....
For me, it starts with the heart.
Then the smile, then the eyes.

The heart because then you know how genuine they are
The smile because you know if they are a happy, soft caring person
And the eyes because you can see straight through someones eyes and learn a lot about them

Its all about their character...

Looks are a bonus haha

I concur...looks are bonus but meaningless if the person's character sickens you.

I'd rather have a loving heart and brains than beauty. :)

And the majority of our society's idea of beauty is actually done thru photoshop... It doesn't even exist in reality...

Women are very visual and very shallow, otherwise I would have been married years ago. Christian women seem to be the worse for being choosy and picky and still cling to what the world says a man has to look like and be.
im hoping this is in jest, because otherwise you just supported Ugly's point that these threads are nothing but blanket statements and in my opinion bitter feelings/resentment

AMEN me too.. I would rather impress people with the gift of love and mercy which can only come from God, than trying to maintain a worldly view of what beauty is.

Excellent post, Ella! I believe I'm very much the same way. Initially it was Arlene's godly wisdom, refreshing innocent spirit and random silliness that drew me to her (I mean, she had a taco avatar - for a long time I didn't know what she physically looked like). Then, on the phone, her voice and giggles did it for me. And later, in a heartwarming video Arlene sent me, her smile and eyes completed the picture. It doesn't hurt that Arlene's beautiful, but physical looks mean little in the long run if the person doesn't have godly character and an interesting personality. I can't wait to meet Arlene face-to-face. Roll on late-September!

You can't see a person's heart though unless you get to know them. And lets face it. Women are more likely to go up to a guy with a 6 pack compared to someone who is overweight. But in God's eyes they're both beautiful. As Christians "looks" shouldn't matter, since we are to live like Christ.

Saying looks shouldnt matter is also a fallacy. As christians we are supposed to take care of everything God has given us including these bodies. So if the woman is picking the guy with abs over the guy with flabs and that bothers you, trhen perhaps you should work on your tone.

If all a woman has to offer is her looks then she isn't wife material. A good man will look beyond the physical beauty of a woman. And if a woman thinks she isn't attractive enough to have a man then she needs to work on her self confidence before entering a relationship in the first place. I was insecure for many many years. When I let my insecurity go is when I found love. Cheesey? Yes but true.

I was a psych major and took a social psych class. Part of it dealt with attraction. So it dealt with this. You're right. But more so than not. The term "eye candy" didn't come out of thin air.
Took one class in social psych, must have a doctorate. I have a degree in poli sci, must be qualified to be president.

A lot of people can't control what their bodies look like. And I never said that it did bother me. I'm speaking from what I've seen from non Christians and Christians alike. I didn't start this thread. I, like, you, just contributed.

So we're not allowed to apply what we learn then? Way to exaggerate.
