You did. One can do all they can to be healthy and still not be physically fit. That's what I was referring to. It's a temple but not all who take care of it does is actually show.
No. I did not. Not once did I say everyone should be physically fit. I said just the opposite. Saying we should take care of our bodies does NOT mean having a perfect "thin" build. TRY TO UNDERSTAND. not everyone is built the same. Bone structures are different. "Your body is a temple" is not about lifting weights. No drugs. No alcohol. No habits that can cause health problems. This isn't just about ones physical body. I've seen my own sister starve herself with anorexia to the point of death so I'm not about to criticize ANYONE on how a person physically looks. I come from two parents who are also physically disabled and believe md, physical beauty did not matter to them.
I also was a psych major in college too. Took quite a few classes as well so stop trying to lash out about your own insecurities and twist others words so you feel better about your own issues. Yes, it's that obvious that's what you're doing.

I didn't say you did. Must have typed it prior to when I went back and edited it. That's not what I'm doing. I saw this thread and made one comment. Then a few people started to misinterpret what I meant. I was part of a club at school where it dealt with these issues. People hurt themselves every single day because of the lies society feeds. Christians. Not Christians. People of all sorts of backgrounds. We have more people trying to confirm a fake sense of what physical attraction is. Rather than talking to the individual and getting to know him and her. That is all that I meant. And it got blown way out of proportion.

I think most of what needs to be said has been said already. I know that it seems like most women have a negative opinion of how they look, but that's because they listen to what they world says about them instead of what the Bible says. And it's for that reason that I really don't like to validate self-deprecating comments like the one made in the OP. The reality is that all women really are beautiful in some way, and that beauty is comprised of so much more than physical appearance.

Listen to what God says about you and don't allow your views to be grounded in what the world says. Listening to man's ever-changing opinion is only going to lead to despair whether you are drop-dead gorgeous or not. Listening to God's never-changing opinion will give you something to build upon.

To stop any more arguments I think we can all agree that society has messed up our minds on what matters. We need to love like God loves us and look into the hearts. Each person deserves the same opportunity, regardless of what one looks like. Men and women. God bless you all.

Yes!!! God always shows me how beautiful I am and how He loves me for all my strengths and regardless of my weaknesses. I have found that I always feel more beautiful, on the inside and outside, after I spend time with God because I am grounding myself in His opinion rather than the world. He's wonderful. :)

I found this soooo sweet x). I'm all mushy now! Lol.

What is beauty? What is love? What is attraction? What is affection?

I wonder...do you?

TL;DR: Is ugliness due to the Fall? Also, this is just food for thought, don't get offended.

This may seem... offensive to some, but hear me out. Do you think that ugliness is due to the Fall? Everything God made was good. When you look through nature, some would say you see beauty all around us. So my point in regards to humanity, is that God must have made Adam and Eve beautiful and only after the Fall did old age and deterioration come into play. Which then led to gene mutation and so on. So, would it not be far fetched to consider that ugliness rather than being how God made a person, is rather due to the Fall and curse?

This being the case, this discussion could take an interesting turn into getting surgery to make yourself feel confident. If your looks are indeed due to the Fall and are less than... attractive, then its okay to "change yourself." People say, "Oh but God made you that way. You are changing how God made you." However, considering the Fall and how that has affected our DNA, is it really how God made you? Or is the process due to genetics and indeed, the genetics are flawed from what once was perfection? If someone wants to alter their appearance, whether it be simple work or what have you, is it perfectly fine to do, if it expands one's comfort zones? What reason(s) would be suitable, or is it your own body and do what you please?

Why would God make something ugly? For what reason? Is it to make that which is beautiful look all the better? Comparably, people say darkness exists and therefore light shines brighter. But God did not create evil, because He is love. In the same way, how could anyone think God made them ugly? No... it goes back to the Fall.

He's creating us in His image. If we were "physically ugly" then would that mean He physically had an ugly creation?

If God made men to be visual, then why didn't He make all women gorgeous? Doesn't seem fair to some of us women.

It's kinda fair in the sense because you will know for sure he loves you for who you are - your everything, including your so-called 'not so gorgeous look' - instead of having to worry about if he's into me only because of my "gorgeous" look.

I agree that a lot of our opinion about woman are corrupted by social norms, customs, fashion and media.

For me, a woman is one who is a mix of both - strength and grace. She has to be assertive when she stands for the right thing, and graceful when she is with her man. She must be starry-eyed when she looks at her man and have grit/resolve when she is independent by herself. She must love her work and be fiercely competitive when it matters, whether it is a game or her career. She must have the highest morals over her mind, her words and her actions. She must know to defend the wronged and to respectfully oppose the wrong. In short, she must be capable of living life on her own without the need for a man to cling on to.

I do not look at whether she has accepted Christ as her Saviour, to be a woman. Any girl can mature into a woman. But the standards get tougher if she wants to be my woman. That is when her personal beliefs are scrutinised. :)

I somewhat agree to this, although I feel that we are responsible for the way we look in some way or another.
For example - someone who has horrible yellow teeth, someone who does not look after their hair, skin, nails, someone that is unhygienic etc.

For me personally as a beauty therapist with over 11 years experience, I will be the first one to tell you, that the before and after of someone coming in to have a treatment is quite dramatic. Especially for a woman.
A woman who looks after herself and has pride in her appearance is flattering for any man, and herself.
The way woman FEEL when they walk out of my shop is awesome which makes me love my job even more.
Woman don't like to have hair moustaches, hair eyebrows etc .... if they do, it makes them look like a man and feel like one.

SO what I mean is, in some way we have the ability to pamper ourselves a little bit without going over board and start looking good and feeling good.

I could never date a man that let himself go.....
I think in my eyes, letting yourself go, is ugly.

That's just me.... I think it's lazy

Completely, we are responsible for our own appearance. In my personal opinion, I think that we as Ambassadors for God should be presentable. We go before kings, queens, and presidents and make ourselves looking respectable, why then should we do things for the Kingdom and not do so(make ourselves look respectable/appealing) for the King of Kings? Personal responsibility does play a role, as you said and there are people that use the excuse of vanity to avoid upkeep, unfortunately. What are your thoughts on vanity? Is vanity to be prideful of your appearance? I could hardly see the desire to look your best to be vanity, when doing such could firstly, bring glory to God (I am God's creation) and secondly, and repeated, you are God's representative. Also, you are the temple of the Holy Spirit, why shouldn't you take care of yourself?

PS: Maybe bringing God glory is a tad of a stretch. lol Though, people do get amazed when they study human anatomy and therefore, that does bring glory to God of His power.
