WHAT??? Were you thinking of making a dessert for him on your first date??? What's for the second? Cute little clothes for all his kids???

Your presence is more than enough on the first date. If he brings you flowers this time, then you can get him something simple the next time. You will not cook or bake or anything for him until the 5th date. And nothing for the kids until you have met them!

You can thank me later ..
ROFL! Hey I don't sew...I do crochet and make soaps though. :D

Seriously didn't think dessert was that dangerous. But ok, I will wait for the 5th date at least. I don't want to give a young man such as yourself a heart attack. ;)

Sister I would say, you are his gift!! However i do believe he should bring you one! The reason he should bring you one,is because by example, he is, with the gift thanking you to remember him! I just hope you are not being led astray is all. And by all means test him sis!!Get to the truth from the get go!

People online can be anything they wish to be as we all know. Pay attention to Holy Spirit in you as well!! He will really confirm some things as he speaks to you! I hope you enjoy yourself!! It is the older man in me speaking to you sis,LOL I would if i was your dad go with you myself!! LOL And if you did not wish for me to go with you,I would be there without you knowing it!! LOL No girl of mine would ever be without an escape!

Trust in others has never been a strong quality with me. I would be very nice to him if you wished for me to be sis,i would show him my gun collection, reminding him I much I care for my little girl, and woe to anyone who would ever hurt her. hehe Without saying anything more to him, I know he would get the point!! LOL As Jesus loves so do I sis,and protects as well! And NO!! It does not matter how old you are either!! LOL To dad's around the world, you will always be there little girl!
You are so sweet. I wish I had a dad that would do that for me. My brother would though lol

No...just bring him the gift of yourself . Its great you've established a friendship online but its pretty different meeting in person so id take it very sloooooow and think with lots of objectivity during your meeting and future ones if that should occur. At this point, you are in the infancy of your friendship and I wouldn't allow any huge expectations and plans to cloud your objective consideration of him. He may be the real-deal or he may be like many other church going Men out there who are drastically in need of Gods direction and power in their life to walk their talk. Id hang onto your feelings, keep them in check, and keep the brakes applied in addition to not seeing too much of each other initially. A friendship needs to mature and grow like wine takes to ferment . Moving too fast will cloud issues typically. Hope that helped.
I want to go slow. Just not sure of the etiquette for dating. I do want to become friends first so going slow is a must. I didn't realize that dessert or gifts meant fast. Being new to this at my age, is rather difficult. lol

There's a fine balance between going too fast or going too slow. Too fast and you end up freaking him out. Too slow and you end up friend-zoning him. You have to let him take it at his pace but let him know that you are enjoying his company. :) Men would love to be in control, so don't do anything that threatens or disrupts that. As far as you're concerned, it's a matter of trust. If you know he is good enough to be in control of the relationship, then sit back and let him take the reins. Of course, you both must keep God in the center of the relationship at all times. :)

And yes, nothing about gifts for him unless he starts the practice. No gifts for the kids until the date when you meet them. Perhaps you must get all your action plans approved by us before you do anything. :p Lol j/k, you have a wonderful God who can teach you much more than what we know. :)

I will pray that it turns out well! And always remember to breathe calmly!

Give the girl a break. What are you, the Jack Bauer of online relationships? :p
"Love" coming from 5 minute conversations once a week over the course of 3 weeks would suggest infatuation.

In contrast, 1 hr every few days over the same period would suggest two people actually getting to know each other and could perhaps suggest something real, authentic, and substantial.

Her situation is better represented by the second scenario I've given.

It's just 'lil 'ole logical me being me.
Muah ha ha haaaaaa. :p

We talk daily for 45 minutes to a couple of hours. And I won't be pressured into anything. He agrees with me about going slow and really getting to know each other. He is also fine with me wanting to remain celibate until I have a commitment. He respects me for my faith and how I walk it out. I will enjoy meeting him. :)
He should be fine with you being celibate until he's had the guts to have you walked down the isle and put a ring on your finger(Heb 13:4).

I was thinking the same thing. I mean the temptations will come, but a godly man should honour his woman.

If he is a believer acting out his faith, wouldn't the expectation be that HE is celibate as well?

lol I thought that was implied. He is celibate been so since his divorce. His ex turned out to be gay and now lives with her lover.
