The yard is a disaster, the veggie garden has been taken over by sunflowers and onions. There are thistles everywhere and grass where there shouldn't be grass. The trees that broke in last fall's blizzard are sprouting new branches like crazy, misshapen midget trees. Part of the fence is still down and buried under cut logs that should have been claimed by family long ago but they don't have time.

There's still a lot of sand in our water, which is destroying the plumbing and fixtures. The kitchen desperately needs a coat of paint and new hardware on the cabinets because they won't stay closed anymore. The unsealed hardwood floor needs cleaned...still not sure how to do that without getting it wet. Curtains need replaced and the basement needs cleaned.

The cats are still here and I still hate them, particularly when they bring grasshoppers and half-alive hummingbirds inside.

We don't have the money to fix all the stuff that needs fixed around here. We don't have the time to fix it as best we can as fast as I wish we could. We don't have a lot of things that would make stuff easier.

But we're figuring out how to be happy together with what we do have...a roof over our heads, a big yard to play with our kids in, work enough to keep us busy, a comfy couch, and each other. We pray together now...and that makes a world of difference.

It's not perfect. I was never looking for or expecting perfection. But...it's ours. Our family, our home, our marriage, our life...and it's worth fighting for.

oh my! I can make the chocolate version of those, but have never seen lemon cookies like that! I hate baking so I need to force my kids to make those!
lol, it makes me sad, because the vibrant color in these cookies are purely from yellow food coloring! Maybe egg yolk too.

Sounds perfect to me..........there's a product called. Murphys oil and soap......you can apply and clean hard wood..........just by mopping your floor.........that's what we used when I was working construction............if you need any tips on do it yourself.........I be happy to help.
From drywall to electric...........a lot of these projects are not difficult and good family fun.....
My daughters and i have finished and fixed our home.......really cheap....and we put the music on
and had a ball..........Murphys oil can be found at the grocery or most any where that sells cleaner...
Hope that helps........peace..........jo

Christian funerals are so good, and also so sucky...

If any of you saw the post I made a week or two ago, the man from my church who was suffering from brain cancer passed away early Monday morning at the age of 72. His wife had prayed for him for years and years to become a believer, and over time the Holy Spirit awakened his heart to the beauty of the gospel, and he accepted Christ at some point in the last 18 months. I had the privilege of attending his baptism service. Not long after that, he remarked to my pastor that 6 months ago he was afraid to die, but that was no longer true. A short time later he was diagnosed with brain cancer, and he had really undergone a downward descent of physical deterioration since then. Before he became a believer when the Holy Spirit was at work on his heart, he said that the song "In the Garden" would play in his head over and over again. And after he had been battling the cancer for a time and was growing restless as he was confined to his home, he would go out into their garage to his car and listen to Elvis' rendition of that song.

He and his wife have been an amazing living testimony of the power of God at work in a married couple's life, and I hurt today for her who no longer has the man with her who she began dating at age 14 even while I can smile a bit in knowing that they will be able to be together again one day.

At bowling alley.

The person I support on Fridays likes to bowl. he is quadriplegic, but has enough motor skills to roll the ball down a ramp I set up for him. he always beats me...

The sad thing is, he'd probably beat me, too.

My brother who is disabled; the support worker and I go bowling every week. My brother cant bowl so the support worker and I take turns using a special contraption that you place the ball on and push it down the bowling alley. .every single week my brother beats us...he even holds a lane record. ..lol and he never even touches the bowling ball.

I don't like coconut. I like the smell, the taste is alright, but something about the texture of it just throws me off.

Chocolate, on the other hand...

My roommate and I made chocolate chip cookies last night. Well, let me rephrase that. My roommate and I made a bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough, baked a pan's worth of cookies, and put the rest of the dough in the fridge to eat with a spoon later. :D

My sister wants me to cut her hair and do a bunch of different colored highlights in her hair before her wedding in two weeks. I...do not want to do this. Last time, it took lots of hours, and right now, she's mad at me for trying to fix my marriage, and I honestly just don't want to be around her for that long.

Would it be...I dunno, rude maybe? Selfish? To give her the money to get her hair done by someone else? Because that sounds like a good deal for both of us.

I don't mean this in a rude way at all just an observation- I believe it's because of the coconut you all have tried. You probably have never had the real deal for example, if I eat anything that was prepared locally with coconut I will devour it. If I eat anything from the US with coconut it tastes really bad to me and I avoid it. I honestly believe that's the issue here.

At this point- do what's best for YOU. Everything else can work itself out later. I say give her the cash.

That very well could be. I've only ever had it from a package bought at a store, I have never had the real deal. A lot of the time, that does make a difference!
