Actually, intent is extremely relevant to the discussion, and I think Jeremy's post was as well. In fact, he was actually responding to the first question in your original post.
And to your first post, I don't think meeting potential mates should be the primary reason for going to church, but why can't it be a secondary one? Personally, I don't go to church primarily to meet single people, I go to worship God and grow in my walk in community with other people, but if you're looking for a mate, church functions are as good a place as any to do that as well.

I like the joining a singles group at other churches idea, Gypsygirl said it. When I was single I dog sat my friends really beautiful Australian Sheep Dog for her. I was a guy magnet, borrow someone's manly looking dog. You don't want to carry around a dog in a purse because then you'll be viewed as high maintenance. This might sound like an odd place to meet someone, but try the library, then at least you'll know he can read.

I tried the other approach some 25 years ago. I believe God knows where our hearts are. I just like to meet other Christians. And if a relationship comes of it, it will be more natural instead of like a shopping experience! Now I'm sure this may have worked in the lives of some, we all have different destinies. Mine has never been that simple lol! If I meet someone, I want our being together to be blessed by others as well, I've had enough of the opposite to appreciate good company.

yes, i would agree that if your main intent is to go to church or be involved in church ministries solely under the guise of i'm gonna go trap me a man would be quite wrong.

there are churches with thriving singles ministries that serve to provide bible study, worship, service opportunities as well as fellowship. i think that's a great example of how you can meet several interests and put yourself in a place where you can also meet others. if i was looking to meet men, i'd have no problem with that being ONE of my objectives.

and for the record, anyone who goes to serve in charities/ministries, attend church, or even go play on a softball league strictly so they can meet men has bigger issues that being single. it screams of clueless desperation--and aside from the obvious issues, we all know how attractive the desperate are.

also, i think it needs to be said that the OP asked about "meeting men", and i have come to appreciate the value of being around godly men because they are an encouragement to me. just as women have strengths and value, i have come to appreciate what men offer as well, through their insights and example. my friendships with guys are just as vital to me as my girlfriends.

Hi how are you? Don't lose patience I'm sure a great person is out there. Just wondering when love will show up. It's as natural as rain it just shows up. When it does you'll know :-)

Some of us are in a galaxy far, far away. Some of us travel at Warp speed. Some of us are avoiding the flaming eye. Some of us fight alongside our car that is actually a robot. Any way you go we are out there. You just have to know where to look.
 
You have a robot car? No fair! All I have is a flying car. Now I'm jealous!

Actually I saw a couple of those latest-reboot videos. The humans didn't seem to do a lot of fighting. Mostly they just tried to keep from being killed. How do you effectively fight alongside your robot car?
