Has anyone here here heard of The Piano Guys? I am going to see them in concert in St. Louis in October with a friend. I know who they are and enjoy their music, but everyone I've asked has never heard of them. I look forward to seeing them as well as spending time with my friend in St. Louis.
Yes I have. I like their music. Some of their covers were amazing.

Random thought, but... Ever notice how people in breakups victimize themselves or enemize their ex-partner so often? Why do we do that? I can't say I've ever really thought about a failed relationship with contempt...just sadness, usually. I just don't get it, I suppose. I realize some people do this as a coping mechanism, but I feel like it's foolish. Why turn to anger as your comfort? Why cause further harm to yourself and others? It doesn't fix anything... It just makes it all worse.

How did I miss this. Anyway I think you are in the state next to me, if you got "yellow jackets" in the ceiling they prob have a nest up there and the dead ones you see are ones whos life cycle has ended.

the yellow jackets we have in this area are usually the German Yellow Jacket which has replaced the native eastern yellow jacket. the GYJ are very aggressive and hive populations peak starting about this time and can be thousands in the hive. best to get the hive removed ASAP. One good thing about living in the north compared to the south is the YJ hives only make it one season before they get killed off by the cold.
An exterminator came and put dust inside of the hole. I've been in my room multiple times and haven't seen anything since he exterminated and my dad vacuumed (there also ended up being about 100 dead in my room, probably many many more that are dead above me). Hopefully what we'll be able to do is get the ceiling repaired, because the exterminator said they probably did some damage up there. My uncle is an exterminator, too, and when he came to visit me, he saw one of the dead ones (we've missed a few, and there's probably still some in my room that need swept up. I just haven't gotten to it yet.) and he said, "Oh wow, these are the nasty kind."

I am in the state over from you, yeah. They more than likely did make a nest up there, considering how many were in my room. I'm just thankful for God's protection. I try to forget the situation sometimes, but it's close to impossible to ignore. But it does display God's mercy, even in my unbelief. There are times where I think I'm better off dead, but it's events like those that make me realize, I do value my life. At least a little bit.

I had a nest of them GYJ's in the yard last year (they normally make the nest in the ground but will nest about anywhere) few gallons of gas did them in. Hive was about 50k strong. You can tell if its a GYJ or a native EYJ by the 3 black dots on its head. GYJ have the dots EYJ don't.

Next time you hear scratching in the wall or ceiling have someone check it out cause now you know what it likely is.

also for those who have no idea what I am talking about with the GYJ/EYJ
EYJ - Eastern Yellow Jacket, native to N. America
GYJ - German Yellow Jacket. invasive species very aggressive and dominate yellow jacket species in Indiana and Ohio

We have two yellow jacket nests in the ground in our backyard. It hasn't been cold enough to douse them in gasoline yet.

I really did think that the popping or scratching was from the ceiling fan. I had a ceiling fan in the kitchen in our previous house. It was an older fan, and it made clicking noises and stuff. It was undoubtedly the loudest fan ever. I just figured that the one in my room was a bit older, too.

gas them in the evening. it would be good to kill them off now. hive will release a few queens which will winter in a semi warm spot and start new hives next year

Also since the hive in the ceiling. id have someone check the house wiring up there make sure they didn't chew up any wire insulation creating a fire hazard.

When will it release the queens? Dad was hoping that once the temp started to drop to the 40's or 50's he'd do it then.

Yeah, that might not be a bad idea...I'll have to ask Dad about whether we could have someone go up there to look and see if there's any damage. That is...if the yellow jackets truly are dead. They came in through one part of the house, into the attic, and decided they were hungry enough to chew a hole through my ceiling. The part where they came in isn't sealed off, just the hole in my ceiling is sealed off with duct tape.

For a short period of time in my early twenties or late teens, I was addicted to sugar. I felt MUCH better when I got off it, which really only involved abstaining from it for 3 days or so. Don't get me wrong, the withdrawal does hurt a little bit; like, it feels frustrating to want some sugar and not give it to yourself. After the three days though, it doesn't hurt to go without it, and you feel much better than before.

Just thought I'd share; I'm encouraging anyone addicted to sugar to get off it if possible :).

Queens leave the hive in fall and find a place to hold out for winter before it gets too cold. when its in the 40s and 50s they done left. thats why when you find a nest, kill it right then. Plus having two nests in the yard will make it impossible to do much outside over the next two months they will swarm over any food and drinks you bring outside. this is the time of year they start getting super aggressive

I was posting and this came to mind.....about 5 years ago I was out of work...I was doing odd
jobs....I was doing some painting and repairs on a little church ladies house......after tearing out
her carpet upstairs and refinishing her hardwood floors.....she ask if I could help her carry a
large cabinet to the first floor.....she said if we put the sheet on the floor we can just drag it
down the stairs.....because I was being paid I chose to attempt her idea......(rolls eyes)..as we hovered
over the top step....I got a bad feeling....the next thing you know......me the cabinet and her
bright idea sent me tumbling down the stairs cabinet and all......but God knows how stupid I can be..
He allowed me to land standing up next to the cabinet which was also standing straight up....no
harm or scratch to either of us.....Im so glad God loves me.......whew...

I just read an article in the Bible discussion forum about the 144,000 mentioned in the Book of Revelation. Apparently the number cannot be taken literally because in OT they were never accurate with their numbers .. And that the 144,000 referred to the number of angels who were present in Israel at the time of Jesus ... blah blah blah ...

HELLPPPP!! My brain's fried!! I should have never read that post, Lord. I should not have dropped into that forum!!

Yeah it happens a lot. I've had friends that have said their boyfriend was the best person ever, and then they said that they hated them after they broke up. Personally I've only wanted the best for people I had a relationship with. I can be honest and say I was a little jealous when I thought of them having a relationship with someone else, but if it made them happy I was okay with it. Hopefully if I ever have a relationship that lasts longer than a year or so but doesn't work out I will still have the same attitude.

Alright...better let my dad know.
its what i do. if they really annoy me they die right then no matter the time.

one nest really annoyed me... i dumped 6 gallons of gas down the hole and lit it on fire. it was an awesome site the ground raised up with a thuwmp. and ended up watching those still alive come flying out on fire.
