I thought capsicum was capsicum in australia and bell peppers in America. I thought they was the same thing..like prawns and shrimp.

Now im just wayyyyyy confused.

Angel, capsicum is actually a chemical IN the peppers that make it spicy. Capsicum is NOT the actual pepper itself. :) And bell peppers have a gene that inhibits the creating of capsicum, so that is why bell peppers are not hot or spicy.

Aaaactually, no. That chemical is CAPSCAISIN (kap-zay-uh-zin). The fruits themselves (being seeded, peppers are fruits) are of the genus CAPSICUM. Two different words.

I learn something new every day... despite myself. Around here they always referred to the "makes food hot" chemical as capsicum. But then I'm in the south - they know how to make good food here, but not always the correct terms for it.

I don't like octopus. It's like eating rubber.

Let's see....Guess the new girl needs to jump in somewhere. Being from Maine, I am a real turncoat for this, but hate lobster!

The largest lobsters that we know of or have seen have weighed 35 to 40 pounds. It takes lobsters an average of 5 to 7 years (depending on the water temperature) to grow to legal size, and they grow more slowly as they get larger. Therefore a lobster that weighs 3 pounds is an estimated 15-20 years old, and a 25 pound lobster would be approximately 75-100 years old. (Fun Facts About Lobster)

Awww....The coast can be rather foggy and damp. But where I am is known for its gorgeous foliage, mountains, pristine lakes, moose, and a relaxed pace of life. Thus, the unofficial motto: Maine, the way life should be. My daughter is about to graduate from a Christian university in southern California. Her fiance has visited here two Januarys in a row during two of our worst cold snaps ever (called polar vortex). That he came on a tiny puddle jumper into temps and wind chills below -20 was a testament to his love and devotion. ;- . They are settling in Colorado Springs after the wedding, so I imagine that I will fall in love with that part of the country as well. I am remaining open to whatever, whereever, and whomever God has for me. He hasn't failed me yet.

The tree foliage here in Vermont is breath-taking. The trees all turned very early this year.. I think we are in for an early, freezing cold and windy winter..brrrrr!!!! :)

I remember the fall colors in the north east from when I was a kid, although fall is beautiful here in CO it doesn't hold a prayer next to the north east.
