Where does it say that in the Bible?
I realize that this passage was for the children of Israel that had been taken into captivity in Babylon....However, are we not the spiritual children of Israel today and are we not in Babylon ie the world? So as the Blond sees it these instructions could also be ours and applied to voting as we are pilgrims and not permanent residents of this world.....I believe these verses could also apply to voting in order to keep the best peace and prosperity where we as Christians are living.... So I encourage you to Please Go and Cast Your Vote....Prayerfully.

Jeremiah 29: 4-9
[SUP]4[/SUP] Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;
[SUP]5[/SUP] Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;
[SUP]6[/SUP] Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.
[SUP]7[/SUP] And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
[SUP]8[/SUP] For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.
[SUP]9[/SUP] For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.

I'm not going to vote tomorrow but I'm an Aussie. Here voting is compulsory. If you don't vote you're fined and in extreme cases you receive some jail time.
Are you serious?

I have never voted as there was never anybody that I could associate myself with.

I am going to ask you this moral question, what do you do if not one of the candidates is a Christian and you know they will enforce certain rules against your believes as a Bible believing child of God?

The Republican Party platform is against abortion, gay marriage and big government. If you are a Christian those would be some things you'd probably be interested in knowing. If they dont keep to that platform vote them out the next time! IMO with ISIS on the move, the unsecured southern boarder and "free" health care that is a mess I'd say its time to get the other party a try and see what they come up with. This president is slow to make decisions and it has harmed the country. If you vote democrat you are voting for him and his policies.Personally I think everyone should vote.People have died to give us that right. If you have anymore questions let me know! I will help if I can.:)
the GOP is also pro-war, and pro-pre-emptive war - for profit.

Phill you quoted your own heart’s desire and not the Bible. The first time in the Bible we saw democracy Jesus died on a crucifix.

Give me scripture my friend or leave it as your opinion. Go and read the history of South Africa from 1994 and you will quickly see that there were no but I mean nobody that a Christian believer could associate themselves with. I will not make a cross for the sake of making a cross. Give me the candidate and I will vote for him/her but unfortunately on the one side you have a communist trained party with their own hidden agenda and on the other side you have the parties fighting over scraps.

Please show me the scripture where it justify me voting, I double dare you…

Who is the REAL ruler of this world?

2Co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Joh 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

Joh 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

How much of the prince of this world is Godly?

Joh 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

Notice this passage...

Mat 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
Mat 4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Mat 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Nowhere does Christ rebuke the Devil and tell him the kingdoms of this world are not his and not his to give. They are Satan's currently and he won't be ousted until Christ returns...

Luk 4:6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

Are the governments of this world Christ's?

Joh 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Where is our citizenship currently?

Php 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, - NKJV

Christians represent what country?

2Co 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

We are to be ambassadors for Christ, representing His coming Kingdom.

Christ says His Kingdom is not of this world, so...

Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Joh 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
Joh 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

What fruit does our political system produce?

Mat 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Mat 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Mat 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Are we closer to world peace now than ever? Is America becoming a utopia? What are the fruits.

How much part and parcel should we have with them?

2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

And finally, how did Christ feel about the leaders of His day...

Mat 15:12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
Mat 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
Mat 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Now your party affiliation is up to you. I know where my loyalties lie.

Joh 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Heb 11:14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
Heb 11:15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
Heb 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
There we go! Thank you John. I was reading and reading and wondering when someone was going to list these verses :)

I'm not of this world. I would never vote for worldly leaders LOL! That is a no-brainer for a Christian, We all know Jesus is in absolute control and appoints kings and dethrones them and all is done as per His infinite wisdom. What are we worried about? Abortion? Then don't get one. Problem solved.

For any person of this world who has died to this world, then wants to live in this world and have a say in it by voting is, seriously mis-led by their carnal reasoning.

Folks' posts in here show the clear word of God concerning how we Christians position ourselves as "not being of this world but dead to it, and born of New Citizens of the New Heavens and Earth in which we now live, born of the water the word and the spirit of the Living God. Such folk do not become involved again in worldly affairs, as though that is some kind of self appointed "Christian duty".

Listen to these folks. Read the Bible and study out involvement of the world, see what it says.

I am not of this world. I have no concerns to be out morally ruling other men and women, and I especially have no business appointing other men for anything in a world I AM DEAD TO. The only thing I do, which is the ONLY thing appointed by the Lord, is preaching the Gospel and saving men's souls. Nothing else.

The only people who vote or otherwise involve themselves into the man made system, are the people whom the Lord appoints to bring their own errors of loyalty right back on their own head in misguided recoupment. People get what they deserve when they put energy and loyalty into man's doings. This is Bible 101, hellooooo?
Anyone who has EVER voted is the EXACT reason the US is in the condition it is in. And it is in it's death throes. Which is EXACTLY what Jesus is making sure happens, even in spite of the nuts who try to take over HIS JOB. So get out of that worldly voting nonsense, and discover instead how to preach the gospel.
Oh, and for those who don't think this OP is about the Bible, what is it even posted in this forum here for then? Why then is the title of this thread, "The Christian Vote"? Does that somehow indicate that a Christian has NON-BIBLICAL requirements from God?? Let's know what God says about these things before pumping nonsense out our mouths and telling Christians to vote. Eh?

For you who "vote", READ...

(Dan 4:17)
This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

Again...

(Dan 4:25)
That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

And again...

(Dan 4:32)
And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

And again...

(Dan 5:21)
And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

Oh, and here we can read about the miserable condition of faithlessness which was the reason God abandoned people to the folly of appointing their own leaders. READ

(1Sa 8:1)
And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.
(1Sa 8:2)
Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beersheba.
(1Sa 8:3)
And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.
(1Sa 8:4)
Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah,
(1Sa 8:5)
And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
(1Sa 8:6)
But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.
(1Sa 8:7)
And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
(1Sa 8:8)
According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.
(1Sa 8:9)
Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.
(1Sa 8:10)
And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king.
(1Sa 8:11)
And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.
(1Sa 8:12)
And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.
(1Sa 8:13)
And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.
(1Sa 8:14)
And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.
(1Sa 8:15)
And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.
(1Sa 8:16)
And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.
(1Sa 8:17)
He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.
(1Sa 8:18)
And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.
(1Sa 8:19)
Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;
(1Sa 8:20)
That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.
(1Sa 8:21)
And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the LORD.
(1Sa 8:22)
And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city.
