You know what? That is not of major importance Blain. God judges according to what He has given you...

Luk 12:47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
Luk 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

A rather negative verse but the point is made that we are judged on what has been given us.
It's a good thing God isn't how you view him. I made an honest mistake and I apologized to both everyone here and God and I have a difficult time focusing even with my medicine

I respect your view and we have talked once, so I hope you know I am sincere.

I have to say, when you said , "something tells me that God doesn't care if it has pagan origins" IMO this could not be more wrong. I know I just posted it, but how can you say He does not care when HE SAYS THIS?

Deuteronomy 12:29-32, “When Yahweh your Father cuts off the nations from in front of you, and you displace them and live in their land, Be careful not to be ensnared into following them by asking about their gods, saying: How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do the same. You must not worship Yahweh your Father in their way, for every abomination to Yahweh, which He hates, they have done to their gods. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods. Whatsoever I command you, be careful to observe and do it, you shall not add to it, nor take away from it."

must not

which He hates
yes I know you are sincere and I hold nothing against you this was merely a simple discussion not a heated debate

Please show me the true meaning of xmas from the scriptures.
John I have to ask you do you celebrate any of the holidays whether that is veterans day to easter or thanksgiving? because if you celebrate even the smallest one even if it is just Valentines day you are in the same boat as those who celebrate Christmas

Ok, text doesn't convey tone, so im glad. Well it's not a discovery I made overnight, so all I can say/ask is that you study this line of information for yourself a bit.

Romans 14:5-6 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days.

Do you think Romans14:5 is justification to keep pagan festivals?

and in Colossians... is Paul's day he pharisees had their own way and sometimes even their own day to "celebrate" the things Yahweh had Commanded, so the Pharisees would have made "judgement" that any not in agreement with them would be "judged" in error.

It is just very bothersome to me that the world celebrates the "Saviors birthday" on a day instituted by Constantine in honor of "Sol Invictus Mithra" because Yahweh says this should not be so.

So im all for true meanings.

Do you think Romans14:5 is justification to keep pagan festivals?

It is only Christ who justifies, not the esteem or lack of esteem for any day. Otherwise,

Luke 7:35 But wisdom is justified of all her children.

Uh, no that is not the case. Celebrating the fourth of July is not a Christian endeavor, it is a national holiday and no, I do not celebrate the Feast of Lupercal.

That didnt really answer my question...

These things didn't answer your question, or you don't receive the answer? Paul already put to bed all of this, but it's up to you to believe and receive the New Covenant. People on CC are bickering over matters already settled in the first century, scripture clear, many simply rejecting the whole gospel. Your question was, in fact, answered, by scripture.

Rom 14 is one of the most misused and misunderstood passages in scripture.

Some people think Jesus' birthday is december 25th however the scriptures don't give the date of his birth so Christmas is instead a time to celebrate his birth. Some ppl including Christians say Christmas is of pagan origin. Easter halloween valentines day these all have pagan origins however Christmas if indeed pagan is the only one in which ppl all over america sing praises to God about his sons birth. true their are Christmas songs about santa and such but so much more songs about Christs birth.

However something I noticed about the name santa is if you switch the words around it spells satan, so perhaps satan uses santa to bring the focus off Christs birth with a jolly fat bringer of toys. this is just a thought.

You would think that with the free information available today, people would have long abandoned the idea that Christmas itself was of pagan origin. I have three points here:

-Christians were celebrating Christmas long before Aurelian instituted Sol Invictus. Not to mention the difficulties explaining why Christians would celebrate a feast instituted by a guy responsible for their persecution.

-Many Christians did and still do celebrate Christmas on Jan 6/7 rather than Dec 25. If you understand the origins of the date of Christmas, this makes sense, but it doesn't make sense in a pagan-origin framework. If Christmas was of a pagan origin, how did so much of Christianity wind up with that January date for Christmas?

-According to primary sources (ie, the Early Church Fathers) the origin of Christmas was primarily connected with Jesus' annunciation/conception, death, and the date people believed the world was created. As a simple example for some of this logic, count back 9 months from Christmas and what do you get?

you wanted scripture to show we should celebrate Christmas but as far as I know know the scriptures don't say to celebrate the fourth of july or something.

And I don't celebrate them in a religious sense. Show me scriptures that say we should celebrate xmas as an act of worship.

by Andrew McGowan

"The extrabiblical evidence from the first and second century is equally spare: There is no mention of birth celebrations in the writings of early Christian writers such as Irenaeus (c. 130–200) or Tertullian (c. 160–225). Origen of Alexandria (c. 165–264) goes so far as to mock Roman celebrations of birth anniversaries, dismissing them as “pagan” practices—a strong indication that Jesus’ birth was not marked with similar festivities at that place and time.1 As far as we can tell, Christmas was not celebrated at all at this point...

The earliest mention of December 25 as Jesus’ birthday comes from a mid-fourth-century Roman almanac that lists the death dates of various Christian bishops and martyrs. The first date listed, December 25, is marked: natus Christus in Betleem Judeae: “Christ was born in Bethlehem of Judea.”3 In about 400 C.E...

So, almost 300 years after Jesus was born, we finally find people observing his birth in mid-winter. But how had they settled on the dates December 25 and January 6?...

This would change only after Constantine converted to Christianity. From the mid-fourth century on, we do find Christians deliberately adapting and Christianizing pagan festivals. A famous proponent of this practice was Pope Gregory the Great, who, in a letter written in 601 C.E. to a Christian missionary in Britain, recommended that local pagan temples not be destroyed but be converted into churches, and that pagan festivals be celebrated as feasts of Christian martyrs."

The Encyclopedia Britannica, Volume II (1943-1973),

‘‘In the Roman world, the Saturnalia was a time of merrymaking and exchanging of gifts. December 25th was also regarded as the birthdate of the Iranian Mystery god, Mithra, the Sun of Righteousness. On the Roman New Year houses were decorated
with greenery and lights and gifts were given to children. To these observances were added the German and Celtic Yule rites...Food and good fellowship, the Yule log and Yule cakes, greenery and fir trees, gifts and greetings all commemorated different aspects of this festive season. Fires and lights, symbols of warmth and lasting life have always been associated with the winter festival, both pagan and Christian.’’
