I might even give up Apple products...Coz Android really isn't that bad.
I seriously want to meet the woman who would make Stillwaters give up Apple.

I don't think I can even IMAGINE such a woman, and I have a pretty good imagination.

I'd rather meet the gal who Stilly will marry because she reads the Bible & Fox News from any of her Apple products. :p

I'm not one given over to such theories. I just looked on Google.

Apple is on a slow downward spiral anyways. Probably won't be that big a thing to give up in the future.

They are fighting the battle on too many fronts (vs Google maps, vs Samsung). Today they are busy suing and not inventing. Their R&D pipeline really needs an overhaul, IMO. 5c was the worst thing they could have done to kill their brand image.

I'll take your word for it. You're probably more familiar with all the ins and outs of tech.
My uneducated opinion is that Apple has let their quality control decrease a lot. I can't imagine Steve Jobs letting Apple maps release with such a failure, and also there have been so many IOS issues that would not have happened under Jobs.

I don't mean to derail CatHerder's thread, but I want to reply to your post.

I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of tech, but I'm familiar with the intricacies of a brand. When Apple first came on, it positioned itself as "Be different". The 1984 pic of Steve Jobs giving IBM the finger is cherished by all Apple-fans. Over the years, Apple has considerably changed its positioning. In the late 2000's, Apple chose to be an "Innovator", coming up with ipods, iphones, itunes and ipads. It's not that these products did not exist before Apple, but Apple and Steve Jobs provided the spark for these products to take off in the market.

Unfortunately, the flip-side of being popular is that Apple is no more a "unique" brand. It can no more claim to be a rebel, or make its users stand-out from the crowd. Everyone wants an Apple. Today, Apple is the crowd. This sets the stage for a new rebel to come up - the 'Steve Jobs' of the 21st Century, who can offer a high-quality product that is loaded with the latest features. Only time will tell whether Apple re-invents itself or gets swallowed by the future rebel.

Another problem facing Apple, as you have rightly pointed out, is the issue of poor quality finishing. We all thought that the IOS Maps was just an aberration in Apple's history of reliable and high quality products. Then came a plethora of failures, the last one being Bendgate. The kind of product failures that Apple has witnessed recently must have made Steve Jobs turn in his grave.

This is a common eventuality within corporations. While the founder still controls the company it will be run according to his vision, once the founder relinquishes control it becomes all about the stockholders and profit unless an heir maintains majority stock in the company and holds to the founder's vision.

Personally I love Apple. Everyone wants an apple, which keeps demand low for the stuff that works better, which means I don't have to pay as much for the decidedly non-Apple tech I buy.

Bafa, are you using a translator software to translate English into Filipino and then using the same software to translate your response from Filipino to English? If that be so, you may want to try out Google translator. I think it is far more accurate (seriously, I use it on a daily basis).

There is no other reason I have to offer for your discordant response here.

I feel that, when entering into a relationship, we must keep in mind that we are entering into a relationship with another human being, not a lump of clay. This human being has dreams, likes, dislikes, emotions, habits, etc.. just as we do and to change anything about that human being would detract from who they are.

If we are truly striving to be the best human being that we can be, then we really cannot spare the resources required to make another human being the best that he or she can be. Flexibility, love, and compassion are always required when dealing with any relationship.

This reminds me of a saying I heard many years ago; "be patient with me, God isn't finished with me yet".

Just my $0.02.

I think I enjoy giving up some of the little things -

For instance, if I were in a relationship and we went out to dinner and I wanted the the BBQ ribs or something, and she wanted the "Prime Rib for Two" special they were running, I would be okay with that.

or if we saw the movie that she wanted to watch instead of the one I wanted to watch.

If she liked salsa dancing and wanted to go most Tuesdays, but I had a rehearsal that night, I would gladly adjust my schedule...

...but not ever time.

you do this too often, and you are a doormat. You never make sacrifices, and you are selfish.

I think it is rather healthy for her to have some of her own interests, and for him to have some of his own interests, and to have some mutual overlapping interests as well. Healthy boundaries....and also some joint pursuits. It looks like how much of one or the other will vary from couple to couple. It could be supporting her in the pursuit of her own adventure, or receiving her support in yours. It also means being able to have an uncomfortable conversation from time to time if you feel that things are out of balance.
