I'm sorry, my dear sister. That's rough.
Yeah, it can be kind of...it definitely feels weird. I mean, I don't feel like I missed out on much being single. But between pressure to go to college, get a real job, and being asked about love interests, I can't help but wonder at times whether people. including Christians are really missing it, because ultimately my life is being boiled down to three things. Not too different than everyone else's.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying and I've experienced similar in my own life, although admittedly there must be more pressure about love interests if you're a girl/woman.

You know what I can honestly say that I like about atheists and agnostics, they seem to have this profound way of being able to analyze and critique music, and think very profoundly.

But. why do we as Christians just stop, and allow us to settle when we could completely dumbfound those around us with the power of God working on our lives and to really allow God to be exploding through all other facets of our intelligence?

I mean we used to be as lost as these athiests and these agnostics, why are we so ignorant of the design?

We haven't gotten used to you yet. I doubt it's possible to get used to you. Let's just say we tolerate you.

The guys in your area must be stupid, because you're an amazing, godly woman.
Or maybe they just know you're not allowed to date until you're 30 years old and were scared off by CC mods. :p

Whether it's music, movies or books etc. it's all the same, Christian culture is largely satisfied with mediocre or average, because JESUS!
Christian movies are the worst contender though. Most of them are very, very poor, but JESUS! I'm with you, sister.

And that's where the tolerating you comes in. Do you have any idea how much we pay for tylenol? The server cost would be half what it is if we didn't have to counter the seoulsearch-induced headaches. :p

But seriously, if you're in shooting distance of west TN let me know and we can work something out for getting some bread to you. I came out with 22 loaves, the big loaf in the square pan, plus the whole wheat bread I cooked last weekend, so I have enough to spare a loaf.

Wait, the server cost would only be half? I gotta up my game. It's gotta be double or nothing or else it's just not worth the time! ;) (Plus, I like a good challenge.)

I see your 22 loaves and I "raise" you... one big appetite. And a LOT of sandwiches.

out of curiosity (and due to the fact that i haven't watched many) what christian movies do you think are well done? i'm sort of looking for recommendations.

Christian movies are so tricky... because it's very hard to share the gospel message in that format without instantly blaring to the watcher that the movie is a blatant attempt to... spread the gospel. Which is a GOOD thing - sharing the gospel - but it's still an agenda if that makes any sense. And then people can sometimes feel like a project. The best Christian-based movies I've seen were those that didn't directly attempt to do this, but instead glorified God in more everyday sorts of ways. A Walk To Remember was one of those. Unapologetically Christian, but also realistic and tasteful. I wouldn't call it an evangelistic tool, though.

Sharing the gospel is VITAL to our commission in this world. Sometimes though, I think it's not a bad thing to ease people in with love, respect and glory being given to God, before explaining how atonement works.

Uh... that's difficult, there are so very few of them. Passion of the Christ, Luther, um...

i have to admit, christian movies, even ones that seem "campy" or not well done can have a profound impact those those who are in the frame of mind to receive such a message.

i remember in youth group, we watched a movie called "a thief in the night" which was really old when i watched it. however, it is seared into my memory like few movies have, the ticking clock, the electric razor thingie running, laying in the sink. (big, gas-guzzling, prehistoric) driver-less cars crashing.

it was so horrifying, shocking, and made such an impression on me that i immediately was forced to confront some of the truth that i had been able to ignore in my own life, and the reality of the world we live in. that cold bucket of water was a true watershed moment. : )

did anyone else see that? *shudder*

curiously, what is it that you object to? the low budget amateur approach? lack of plot/story/premise development? or the blatant agenda?

i tend to really get bored with flat characters. one note characters. people who are singly "good" or "bad" instead of a more realistic approach--flawed and imperfect.

anyway, i'm sort of curious what it is that you're so objecting of.

You think some christian films are poorly done, try listening to some would-be christian music groups. They sound like they are singing their songs because they think that's what people want to hear - no heart at all, no feeling, just singing the words by rote.

*shudder*

Makes me sometimes want to take an axe to my audio interface and vow to never record anyone ever again.

Admittedly, they aren't going to win any Oscars, but I like the style of Christian movies Alex Kendrick is doing; Fireproof, Courageous, and Facing the Giants. They are somewhat simplistic but do a better job telling a story than some of the older Christian movies have.

I think most Christian movies that are made are meant for Christians. If a non-believer watched movies like Courageous and God's Not Dead, they'd definitely be left with a blank look on their face after those movies.lol I guess christian movie makers can do a better job of witnessing to non-believers through their movies. I remember reading a review left on Amazon about a Christian movie I was thinking about buying. The person said something like, "It was too overly christian. It kept pointing out that Jesus is my Savior." My first thought was how that person had no idea that it was a christian movie. Anyone who would've read the description of the movie before seeing it would've known it was a movie that favored christianity! Can't understand why a non-believer would get mad for having "Jesus crammed down my throat" when they were watching what was a very noticeable christian based movie on their on free will.lol
