I would also like to address the idea that eating healthy isn't just about what we eat, but also about how much we eat. I have arrived at the conclusion that my meals should be no larger than my fist. If I am hungry 5 times per day, then I eat 5 small meals per day. The key lies in eating only when I'm hungry. Small portions also void wasting food, or eating the remainder of a meal to avoid waste even when I'm no longer hungry. I have seen that shopping with this portion size in mind helped to reduce my grocery bill.

I have seafood and soybean allergies. I was told by my doctor that I had to reduce my daily calorie intake to around 1200 (long story as to why). My current intake is around 3000. What can I do to do this?

it ain't very 'budgety', but salad...fresh fruits and veggies?

a good rule of thumb for the dinner plate is 30% protein, 20% carbs, 50% vegetables.

at least, this is what i read. :)

Most of the food we buy has nutritional information printed on the package; serving size, caloric content, etc. You could keep track of this when shopping and planning your meals. If you have a mobile phone or desktop computer, make them work in your favor, perhaps you could benefit from a few of the apps that assist in counting calories and planning your meals.

without 'disobeying' your regular doctor, get 2 or 3 more opinions. start taking a tablespoonful of apple cider vinegar, organic, from a glass bottle, unfiltered, 2 or 3 times a day. (unless you're allergic to it - i.e. standard warning).

look up washington tx on youtube for wonderful, delightful, free information on how much and how hundreds of people can benefit in one town from a good diet working together. for key words search washington tx news prostate blood pressure mayor fire chief.

Thanks. Do you know of any diet books that are written for senior citizens?

I love fresh fruits and salads, but they don't love my digestive system. We can our own vegetables, but the weather didn't cooperate last year. Things are looking good so far this year.

What should I choose for carbs? Also how can I manage my fat intake? A typical breakfast is a 1/2 cup of Egg Beaters, 1/2 cup of grits, and two small patties of sausage.

A typical lunch is two sliced ham or turkey sandwiches made with honey wheat bread.

A typical dinner is a small slice of beef, chicken or pork, a medium baked potato or a half cup of rice, and cup of vegetables.

I also eat a fiber bar in the mid afternoon, and PB&J or bowl of ice cream in the evening.

I drink two small mugs of coffee (nothing added) or Tea or Diet Coke with meals. I have a low sodium problem and am limited to 1.5 liters of liquids per day.

We're on a limited budget.

I found that my digestive problems disappeared when I cut all pork and dairy products out of my diet and replaced them with grains and vegetables.

I'm afraid I don't use Android. Are you a member of any Android-related forums? I'm betting they will be able to give you more accurate information. Or, perhaps search in the Google Play Store for calorie counting or meal planning apps. If I remember correctly, there were many free apps for Android.

there probably is a website, but i'm not aware of it. all the healthy clinics that have cured cancer, diabetes, leukemia, asthma, arthritis, high blood pressure and a host of other problems all did so
the same
way
as
the
city of washington tx has done now for over ten years in the public eye/ televised frequently.

the people who published this information from 1940 until recently were blacklisted by the bigpharma companies, by most ama type doctors, and by a lot of deceived pastors, teachers, news/media groups, and so on ---- all the big money backed the toxins in our food chain, in the air, and in the water supply (and in drugs/immunizations that had devastating effects almost always), and refused to ever admit it.

all the information is in the bible !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yes, like ripley's believe it or not! --- all the disease is warned about in the scripture, and how to avoid all the plagues that affect most of the people around us is clearly described in the bible).

there are hundreds of books about this available, having been published over the last hundred plus years, very effectively exposing the governments and the medical industry that thrives on profitmongering and deception.

one by a pastor is 'god's key to health and happiness' - by pastor josephson, who was told go home and die - you have six months at most to live (because of 'terminal' cancer). god had other plans, and pastor josephson recovered like the mayor in washington texas did (from terminal cancer with only a few months given by licensed ama doctors to live). the mayor has been cancer free for over ten years or so now, and pastor josephson lived about 60 (SIXTY) more years disease free.

any book by adelle davis, or by dr.max gerson, or by maureen salaman, or by the diamonds(fit for life, I and II), is wonderful and delightful on how to live a life free from disease even in old age.

and one more great example, the oldest probably, is 'back to eden' by jethro kloss.

all of these show clearly that the curse causeless shall not come. (i.e. disease does not occur without a reason).

I drink apple cider vinegar occasionally, but I've never seen it offered in a glass bottle anywhere near where I live.

I agree about there being lots of deceived pastors out there. The pastor of my former church (along with his assistant, who was obese) would cram just about anything into their mouths and said nary a word against the pharmaceutical colossus.
I believe you're correct about the Bible holding the key to good health. That said, do you think the foods that were prohibited in the Old Testament law should be eaten today? I have my doubts and tend to steer clear of pork and shellfish, for instance.

well, think about it.... if you manufactured a car , with a gasoline engine that runs perfect on unleaded 91 octane,
would you
think it is wise if someone bought the car, or BORROWED it from you, and against your instructions they put kerosene in the gas tank !?!? or diesel !?!?

yahweh's word should be obeyed simply because he is yahweh, and no other reason. ( the medical, physiological, toxicology, metabolic and other considerations not-withstanding)

You never answered my question.
that's so weird. you quoted my answer after i answered, and stated right there with the quote of my answer that i never answered your question....

my answer is the same as yahweh's answer: (absolutely no difference or change from what he says) >>

so ask him, then
find a bible, and read the first five books - genesis, exodus, leviticus, numbers and deuteronomy.

if english isn't your best language, try to get a translation you can understand.

in english, the bible is VERY CLEAR --- the CREATOR of all things leaves no room for doubt in his instructions.

p.s. phd's, scholars, the president of heresies of the world and his minions, anyone who trusts flesh/mankind/society/education
all have trouble with this, and with all things true.

yet the author of life is willing to reveal the truth to everyone he is pleased to reveal truth to, and to hide it from whom he is pleased to hide it from. HINT: yahshua hamashiach, messiah savior king son of man, says who these are clearly. (in bible).

I speak very good English, thanks. What I'm not used to are political replies. I had asked if you thought we should adhere to the Old Testament dietary guidelines and you gave an answer that was worthy of a presidential candidate.
For all the words you typed out, I would glean that the answer is a simple yes.

Billy, please forgive me for the delay in answering you? ♥

i totally understand that too much fiber doesn't go well with some digestive systems.

i'm not good at mandating things for other people (not my job! lol).
but i think diet experts would suggest cutting back to one sandwich?
or eating the contents without the bread?

and, as much as i dislike suggesting it...skip the ice cream?
i found it easier to lose weight by omitting sugar altogether. (but i did NOT like it. haha!)

i think i would also replace the diet coke with water...
isn't coke kinda high in sodium? (i really am unsure, but you could check the label)

oh, Billy, the Lord Jesus loves you very dearly.
hoping a little reminder might serve as an encouragement. :)

love,
ellie

Allow me to just add that any artificial sweetener is inimical to good health. They also cause cravings for more carbohydrates.

Artificial Sweeteners Cause Greater Weight Gain Than Sugar
